[ Gotta add a little bit of mystery to it. ]

[ Maybe is about as much commitment as Christian is used to. He's too used to the schedule of spirits, which tend to be whatever they feel like at the time. He does show up at the cafe hoping that his new acquaintance really shows. He ends up loitering in a loose shirt and worn jeans, looking slightly lost but otherwise blending into the scenery of shoppers and walkers enjoying the sun. ]

Yeah, I know I don't actually know what they look like. When has that ever stopped me?

[ Talking to himself probably doesn't make the best first impression, but Christian assumes that it is also too late to worry about that. ]

[ Because Cain is bored and also polite, he shows up right around twenty minutes. Partially since he hadn't heart of the place before, and also because it was the later end of the expected spectrum. Either way, it's easy enough to spot the guy talking to himself and easier still to pick out what he's saying by lip-reading. Context clues give him the rest.

So he'll just help the guy out and approach, hand raised in greeting. ]

You know now. Hi.

[ Distracted by his conversation with his own shadow, Christian jumps when he's approached. The new voice directed at him comes out of nowhere because he wasn't paying enough attention, and Cain is treated to the man looking like a deer in headlights, freezing before he catches up to what was said. ]

Oh, it's- hi. Yeah. I didn't really know who to look for.

[ He raises his hand to wave, then realizes the gesture is late and lowers it again with a stutter of hesitation as he bites his bottom lip. ]

So, I hear you like coffee and sugar. I don't know what I was expecting. Probably someone bigger.

[ Cain just looks amused by the greeting rather than put off or confused. He holds his hand out to shake and introduce himself since keeping to anonymity over the internet doesn't help much with those. ]

I get that a lot. Five-ten isn't the best height but at least I'm short. Hi, Jacob Kane. Or Cain, if you prefer.

[ He doesn't move or flinch, but there's something along with him. Something supernatural, doesn't belong to this world and doesn't seem out of place in his own shadow. Strange. ]

It's not a bad height.

[ Christian answers with a cheerful smile, being slightly shorter than Cain and a little relieved that the man isn't a hulking brute like he might have been. Text messages are mysterious and he could have done much worse by agreeing to meet a stranger. Then again, it isn't the first time he's met with someone he couldn't see. Of course the ease is cut short when Christian feels a cold shiver run up his spine as the demon with him shifts slightly, drawing away from Cain. ]

Uh. Cain, huh? That's an interesting name. You- [ He starts to say something, then stops. ] You know what? I could use a drink. Would you like one?

Guess it is. Chose it myself and everything.

[ So no, he's not that Cain if Christian even knows the reference. Still, probably something kinda messed up about the guy who would choose to go by that for however long he has. Then again, who's not messed up these days? Secrets are the new black. ]

Since that was the offer that lured me out in the first place, why not. Let's get a drink.

[ He's not unfamiliar with choosing names. Spirits get all sorts of titles from humans because they don't have names. "The Wailing Child" or "Black Shuck" or "The Red Stone Horse" were names to spirits, and it isn't so much of a step for him to believe a human might take a new name. The psychics sometimes had titles. Why not? The real question he has about that is left unvoiced. ]

Okay, Cain, let's get a drink. I hear they have good cakes too.
