[ 1 ] video ; un: @altin

[ It takes a few moments of video before it settles and he decides to start speaking. His tone is a little unsure, and a little quiet and shy. ]

I finally get my own place, and only a couple days in --

[ Video diverts to a calico cat curled up in blankets and sheets. ]

She follows me home. She is very friendly, so I have a hard time believing she doesn't belong to someone, but she has no collar.

[ His voice gets quiet. ]

I will come up with a good name.

[ It's quiet, and the video just seems to rest on the cat for a few moments, before he settles on himself again. He still looks awkward as ever. He's trying to get a feel for the place, clearly - so this seems like a good question to ask. He speaks with more confidence, when he finally does. ]

I am putting together new remixes for next month at Element. What is your favorite song to dance to?

[ When Yuri's face pops up it's very clear he's enraptured by the cat on screen. ]

Oh man Otabek, she's gorgeous. Have you seen her around before? I know you're new to the area- but maybe. Talked to your neighbours to see if she's one of theirs? [ Because while of course Yuri was pro-Otabek getting a cat, he also was against anyone stealing someone else's pet. Even accidentally. ]

She looks lanky, little dirty though. Rough like a stray. So maybe she is. [ Not anymore, though. Not if Yuri has anything to say about it.]

I'll bring over some stuff. Help her get set up, okay?

[ He wouldn't want to steak someone's cat. Especially one who's such a cutie like her. So he takes a little bit before he responds. ]

I can confirm she's not my neighbors.

[ He looks pleased. He's always wanted a pet, but his constant traveling when he was home prevented him from being able to have one. Now, he actually has the opportunity since he always returns to the same place. ]

Thank you, Yuri.

[ He shifts, and moves the camera back to her as he say: ]

I'm naming her Tazagul.

[ It is with genuine supreme effort, that Yuri doesn't squeal in delight when Otabek tells him the name he has chosen for her. He didn't necessarily know what it meant, but the fact that he has named her at all, means he's keeping her. ]

Little Taza. I love it. I'll be over soon, okay?

Yes. Taza. It means Bright Flower in Kazakh.

[ He nods towards the camera. He's excited that Yuri is coming over to share this. He's also glad that he opted to keep her. He couldn't have seen himself tossing her back, but she could have ended up at an animal shelter. ]

Alright. I'll see you soon.

[ A small mew - which seems to agree - in the background. ]

[ Yuri checks the video, but doesn't get back to Otabek right away. He's too eager to go over, to meet Tazagul for himself. But of course he can't go empty handed, so he swings by the grocery store first- picks up the things he knows Otabek will need for keeping a cat. A litterbox, a bag of feline pine, a bag of his preferred dry cat food, and a case of cans of the wet that he knows Petya likes. He hopes that Taza will like it, too. He also picks up a back of flea medication- just in case. If she was a stray, she probably had them, and it'd be nice for her not to live with parasites. He bought her a few toys; a feather spinner, some cat nip mice, and a mixed bag of balls of different types- scrunchy, pompoms, plastic balls with bells inside.

And last... he buys a tearaway collar. Pink, for the lovely lady that she is. So too does he buy a pendant nameplate for her, in the shape of a simple circle in gold plate. Otabek was a simple sort of person, and he figured that the other would like the circle best. On it, he had Taza's new name printed, and on the back, Otabek's name, and phone number. So she would never be lost again.

With everything in arm, he finally makes his way to Otabek's apartment- and has to use his door to knock, not wanting to put anything down. ]

[ Otabek answers quickly. He was expecting his friend soon, so he had no reason to wait when answering the door. He was so grateful for his friend. Otabek really hadn't had a moment to prepare for having a cat over, so he had basically nothing for her. He would have gone out and gotten her stuff, but since Yuri was coming over with things, he had no reason to leave yet.

Seeing his friend with loaded up arms, he took what he could from him, and brought it into the apartment so he could free Yuri's arms of things. He stepped back to let Yuri inside, then nudged the door close with a foot. ]

Here, we'll take this all to the living room.

[ He shifts to lead Yuri there. ]

Then I'll take you to her. She's in my bed.

I didn't get you a cat carrier- but you should probably pick one up, and bring her by the vet to make sure she's, y'know, healthy and stuff. Did you check for an inner ear tag?

[ Even as he's speaking, Yuri is smiling and starting to unload some of the bags he bought, helping himself into the other's kitchen to get a spoon, so that he can open a can of food and scooping it into a bowl he had also bought for her. ]

You have water down for her? [ He assumed that Otabek did, but also knew that it couldn't hurt to ask. ] I'm really excited to meet her.

[ Beaming, Yuri gently set the food down on the floor in the kitchen, before shifting to follow after the other to meet her, gasping softly as he saw her curled up on the blankets on Otabek's bed. ] Oh man, she's so gorgeous Otabek! [ He cooed softly, approaching her with gentle body language, sitting on the bed just out of reach as she lifted her head, not wanting her to feel threatened or have to worry about his presence. ]

Hey pretty lady. [ He cooed softly, offering out his hand for her to smell, for her to approach, if she wanted to. ] Nice to meet you.

I looked to see if there was anything that meant she'd be someone elses'.

[ He also noted that she'd have to go to the vet soon. Make sure that she was up to date on her shots, and that she was healthy. He wanted to make sure that Tazaghul was well taken care of. She really was a beautiful cat. ]

I do.

[ He nods towards a plastic bowl that was settled on the floor. The water was fresh, although she had definitely had some of it off and on through the day. To be honest, he was looking forward to seeing Yuri interact with her.

Something was telling him that Yuri would be good with her, and immediately knew he was right. Yuri's body language shifted from what he was used to (no longer the soldier or the Russian Punk or whatever anyone wanted to call him), to something gentle and sweet. He melted a little, able to keep that internalized, at least.]

She is, isn't she?

[ He felt rather lucky to have her, and that she followed him of all people. She seems to perk at Yuri's presence, and seems still comfortable. After a few moments of checking him out, she stretches out, and starts to slowly make her way towards Yuri. ]

Good, Tazaghul. Yuri's very nice.

[ Otabek's voice is a coo, low and easy. She glances in the direction of the sound, a soft mew, and then closes the distance between herself and Yuri, settling on sniffing his hand, checking him out. ]

[ Yuri was still, inviting Tazaghul to make the choice of how their interaction would go. She could shy away, if she wanted to- Yuri wouldn't have faulted her for it. But she approached, and he smiled wider still. ]

That's a good girl. [ He murmured softly, opening his palm and offering it to her, letting her sniff. Waiting for her to make the first move of bumping her head against his hand, or moving away. If she moved away, Yuri would be disappointed, but he wouldn't let it deter him from befriending her eventually. ] You probably smell my kitty on me, don't you? Petya. She's a sweet girl like you. Spoiled though. [ He chuckled softly, his features soft, all of his attention locked on the small cat before him. ]

[ She lets out a small mew in response to Yuri's talking to her. She seems to appreciate the way he's talking to her and acting, because she's pretty comfortable with him. After several moments of taking in his scent, and the scent of his cat, she bops her head against his palm. Then she walks, rubbing her face and cheeks against his hand.

Otabek looks pleased. He watches the scene unfold, and he's not surprised she takes a quick liking to Yuri. ]

She seems to like you.

[ He sounds happy. ]

She knows I do.

Hey sweet girl, it's nice to meet you too. [ Yuri's smile is soft when Tazaghul finally bumps her head against his hand, rubbing her face against his fingers, and he slides his hand along her fur, pleased that he's been given permission to pet. He's gentle with her, introducing his other hand where she can see it- so that he can scritch between her ears while his other hand bends at the knuckles, rubbing softly underneath her chin, trying to encourage her to purr. ]

She's got a bit of flea dirt, under here. [ He didn't seem bothered by this, though. If she had been living outside for god only knew how long, it made sense that she would have picked up the pests along the way. Poor thing. ] I brought some treatment with me, so you can get it cleared up in a week or so. I bet that will feel so much better, won't it Tazaghul? [ He cooed to the small cat, stroking down her back and tenderly rubbing above her tail, trying to find the places where she liked best. ]

[ Otabek watches, and nods a little. It makes sense, and he appreciates the care that Yuri is taking with her. She seems to like it, too. She lets out a small chirping sounding noise at Yuri. She's talking to him, that's for sure. Otabek thinks it is endearing. He leans forward onto the bed, mostly to talk to the cat, but he doesn't reach to pet her. He doesn't want to overstimulate her. ]

We'll get you all cleared up, Taza.

[ He seems motivated by the idea. She seems to be a fan of head scratches and pets, and encourages Yuri to proceed whenever she's touched there. ]

You like to talk, don't you little lady? [ Yuri was utterly endeared by her sweet little noises, and he leaned forward, offering her his forehead to bump, hoping she'd take the opportunity, though understanding if she was a little shy to the idea, seeing as she seemed to like having her head and cheeks rubbed the most. ]

You picked a good home, little Taza. Otabek will take good care of you. [ He cooed, his voice soft- like he was talking to just her, even though he knew, obviously, that there was no way Otabek couldn't hear him. But nothing he said was untrue, of course. ] You're a very lucky girl. I promise.

[ She hesitates a moment. She doesn't so much bump against Yuri's forehead as brush her cheeks against it, offering him another chirp-like sound. She turns her attention towards Otabek, who is relaxing against the bed, but quiet. He has a feeling she can sense how relaxed he is in Yuri's presence, because she seems to settle herself there, close to Yuri. ]

I think she likes you a bit.

[ Otabek had to chime in a little. It doesn't surprise him. ]

I hope she'll come to like me a lot, with time. [ But still, even with just this small compliment Yuri preened. Happy that the cat would like him, stroking her fur gently as she settled close to him, beginning to purr. Music to Yuri's ears. ]

I got you something- um. I mean, you know. I got a lot of somethings. But this- this is special.

[ Fishing into the pocket of his hoodie, Yuri drew out the small box that he'd put Taza's collar, and nameplate in. Offering it out to the other for him to take. ] Just in case she ever gets lost. So maybe someone can help her find her way home. [ He explained. ]

[ He takes the box and opens it off. Otabek loves it, and it's easy to tell. His entire expression softens, and he seems to be so pleased with it all. Trying to remain stoic as his typical self is difficult when he watches Yuri interact with his cat. He's just glad they got along. And then there's the gift. Yuri works fast. ]

Thank you.

[ He pulls the collar from the box, and he leans a little onto the bed, gently working to place the collar on Taza - his cat. He scritches under her chin after he does, letting Yuri continue to get to know her. ]

If...she likes you even half as much as I do, I'd say you'd be doing well with her.

[ Ah... ]

What are your name options? Just curious.

[ What? Sure, Cisco has a lot more experience naming dangerous, sometimes murderous metahumans and not pets, but he's allowed to be curious. ]

Favorite club song is definitely 1, 2 Step by Ciara. If you do a remix lemme know because I will so be there.

Tazagul. Aiman. Aibek. Aslan. I am leaning towards Tazagul. It means 'Bright Flower'.

[ Naturally, he's a fan of any of the names. He thinks going for where his instinct leads would be the best option. ]

I will let you know. I most likely will have something together for next month.

Tazagul is really sweet.

[ Definitely a lot more poetic and serious than Cisco would have gone with if he were naming his own pet, but then again maybe that's one of the reasons that it's probably good that Cisco doesn't have a pet. ]

Aslan's good, too, though. Especially if you're hoping it turns out to be a magic, talking cat. That can fly.

[ What, Otabek could be hoping for that, it's possible... ]

I like it. She has some interesting shapes on her back in her colours.

[ He thinks it's a suitable name, at least. Seems to match her pretty affectionate personality, too. ]

[ His blank expression at the reference is pretty clear that he doesn't get it. Sorry Cisco. ]

I wonder if she was someone's pet before. She seems pretty chill.

[ Cisco doesn't have much experience with pets but he's pretty sure that totally feral cats don't just wander into people's homes and curl up all content and trusting. Or maybe they do, in this place. But he doubts it. ]

Like Aslan in The Chronicles of Narnia, dude. Is that not the reference you were going for?

She may have been. She is lovely.

[ He blinks. It hadn't even occurred to him - since he was just thinking of names he had heard people use at home. ]

Not the reference I was going for. It's a Kazakh name.

Oh.

[ Well this just got awkward - here Cisco was assuming this guy was a fellow nerd and it turns out he's just Kazakh and Cisco is the one who is basically spouting nonsense. Whoops. ]

Guess that's where C.S. Lewis got it. The more you know... Anyway, uh. You ever need a catsitter or anything for Tazagul, hit me up!

[ Sorry, Cisco. He's devoted his entire life to athletics and national pride. It doesn't even cross his mind that it could reference a book or film. ]

I'll be sure to. You have had cats before?

[ He better ask that first, huh. ]

[ Wow, way to call him out immediately, Otabek. ]

No, but I've dated people who had cats? That's like, almost the same thing, right?

[ It's not the same thing at all, and Cisco knows it. So he admits, feeling even more embarrassed that his attempt to cover up awkwardness had resulted in even more awkwardness: ]

I mean, yeah, there's probably more qualified people here, but... you could always leave me instructions. I mean, it's not brain surgery, right? There's food and litterboxes and laser pointers for them to chase after...

[ Otabek knows that if he doesn't ask it, then Cisco is likely to get asked by Yuri. It's better if he finds out instead. ]

Not really.

[ Although... ]

That's true. Not too complicated, just each one's different.

Yeah yeah, you right. Just keep in mind's all I'm saying.

[ Especially if he and Yuri were both on a mission at some point... ]

She's cute.

( angela is more of a dog person than she is cat, but hey, any animal is a cute animal. plus it's a very gorgeous cat, and she wonders if she should go about adopting a pet once she's finally found some place of her own to stay.
