Roy Greenhilt has found his way back through the portal, I think. My only hope is that he didn't find his way through death.
[She hadn't been quite on speaking terms yet with him when he left, but she seems very upset about it. Letha is making her video from the local hospital, waiting outside of one of the recovery rooms. She's dressed up pretty with braids woven through her otherwise loose hair, so anyone who knows her won't have to guess at all who she's visiting. And at this angle, it's obvious that her pregnancy is now well over the halfway mark.]
I hadn't realized how hard a job it was to be a nurse until I came here... that sounds silly, doesn't it? I haven't gotten many injuries in my life, and I never concerned myself with medicine, but - more than that, I think anyone who comes into Ivar's room should be carrying a shield...
[She sighs. She's starting to think that taking a break from dumb adventures was a mistake, all she has to occupy herself with is worrying.]
Does anyone want to go... do something? I've spent entirely too long in this chair.

Shay usually had us doing something athletic, like volleyball or soccer or... jogging.
*Lola sounds a little... angry at the idea at jogging as a concept and unable to hide her anger.*
Frankie usually wanted to do something big, but she had enough money she could pay for us going to some fancy restaurant. Or doing something ridiculous.
Usually I just liked going shopping and then spending the day at the beach or the pool. So... we could do that!

[She actually loves athletic things, but doesn't have the energy to do it while six months pregnant. One day...]
My friends- well, friend... Mary never particularly liked spending time with me. We would go on walks or sit around watching her little brother's magic training from time to time, but she would rather be reading a book or working than talking too long with me.
[Which didn't bother her much until she came here and realized how much more friendly people can be than Mary. Still, Mary was very shy - she doesn't hold it against her.]

*Lola, her first fear, before realizing she had no desire to raise a child, or attaching how far away Miles was from her when she found out, was how she would look. Who she would be at school. She couldn't be that girl, and then the rest filled in and cemented the obvious. She didn't know if Letha had similar concerns, with how she was seen. Her world was very different, but this world was different too.*
Ugh, that sounds boring. Her wanting to work or read instead of hanging out. I like working, but I like it because I get to meet people. And use the money to spend time with friends.
*And at home she conscripted friends into working with her.*

[It really isn't about others seeing that she's pregnant.. that boat sailed a long time ago, with how much she brags about it. It's mostly that she worries about having an unflattering shape, from the size of her belly offset by her tiny frame. She knows others won't care as much here, but... it's still something she worries about.]
She liked it because of the quiet... her father was teaching her to be an undertaker, and I suppose the dead found her attitude comforting. Personally, I always found the funeral parlor boring.

*Says the girl who sent topless photos for money in her past.*
Most swimsuits are skin tight, so it'll be seen, just... a matter of how much. Maybe we should do something else, but I don't know of anything else that's good for pregnant ladies to do.

If Ivar's to be believed, pregnant women are meant to sit around staying completely still and safe for nine months. But... you're right, it is getting a bit harder to break that rule without feeling ill. Perhaps we should simply see what fashion we can get our hands on - some for us and some for my daughter.
no subject
*Lola you have had to do that like three times.*
Um, no. I mean resting a lot is important but there was a girl at my school who got pregnant my first year and she was at school the entire time. Doing absolutely everything she always did. She didn't go to a lot of parties but she was kind of a stick in the mud before she got pregnant.
...I guess I can try to figure out your daughter's coloring from looking at you. It'll be weird, most baby clothes aren't very interesting.
*...Lola...*

[Linens are nowhere near as soft as polyester blends, and her old clothes feel rough and scratchy now that she's gotten used to her more modern outfits... she really didn't notice how much she'd started rejecting her old life until she thought about it. But if it means soft clothes, she does not mind.]
My husband and I looked very much alike, so I imagine my daughter will look a lot like me. Though... I don't know much about matching colors, how does one choose that?
no subject
*Lola has never tried to wear a corset, usually her dresses are just really tight and that's enough.*
You... pick the right colors to make your skin and eyes really pop. Like... what I do. Only you want totally different colors from me. Because our skin is nothing alike.

[Though, Letha doesn't know much about it herself. She's never had to worry about it, since all of her clothing back home was measured and made to order up to her mother's specifications.]
My skin tone is about the same as my husband's... and anyone else in my family, for that matter. We were both pureblooded, so there wasn't much difference. His eyes were brown, though... my daughter might have darker eyes than me.
[Not that she knows anything about genetics. This is all guesswork.]

*She wasn't a willowy stick like Frankie, or that athletic wiry thing Shay had, but Lola knew she looked good. She didn't need any more help than she wanted.*
Hmm... that shouldn't make too much of a difference, especially since baby clothes lack any sort of fun. And apparently you're not supposed to put make-up on babies...
Wait, pureblood. You like pay attention to bloodlines like some sorta superiority thing?

[Had she been a new arrival, she probably would be more disdainful toward the romance that leads to halfbreeds. But seeing as she's currently dating outside of her family, she really has no ground to stand on for that.]

*Does Lola sound judgy and grossed out, cause she sounds judging and grossed out.*

[Her family tree is shaped like a pretzel, so that's as simply as she can put it.]
I don't pretend to understand or really care why the Elders enforce it, but it's much easier to follow their rules than spend an eternity outcasted by everyone you know.

*Well it is!*

[Shrug?]
My friend, Mary, her mother was french. We're friends because I was the only person who would speak to her for a very long time, until she started hanging around Severin... but he was a halfbreed too, so I suppose they made a smart match.
[Despite being raised to see halfbreeds as lesser, she doesn't mind them too much. They make things interesting, just like foreigners do. Although... she'll never be aware enough to understand their struggles.]
no subject
*That is in no way a comment based entirely on how Lola and Miles ended up together. Not at all. She pulled this line of thought out of thin air.*
no subject
[If it were Mary talking, she'd have much more issue with it... but it's Letha, so she's very removed from the issue.]
no subject
...except when it comes to schoolwork.
*Okay so sometimes someone is better than someone else.*

You make a fuss about the oddest things. Just because they aren't rude about it doesn't mean they aren't better or worse than you. They've simply learned to treat the subject politely.
[No, Letha. No.]
