[Someone's having a little fun with his communication device. Now that the carnivale has ended - what a shame that was - he has more time to devote to exploration of the city. Including the technology in it. And this little thing they told him to carry around since the start that keeps making strange noises at him.]

It is! The creatures out there are terribly exciting. Though not good for continuing to live if you can't fight.

Oh? Is that all? [He looks to something off to the side, out of sight, and the way the light hits him it may be a light or a window.] Maybe I should go to see this myself. Seems I haven't gone far enough.

[ Color him surprised, Undertaker. ]

[Many are. He sees that color often enough.] I may have needed to throw a punch or two in my time. [He's also covered in scars visible even through the veil of his hair and the thickness of his coat, the largest of the ones that can be seen streaking one clear across his face and one across his throat, but he doesn't seem to notice them at all.]

Why? Do you think I should?

I'm not one to judge who should fight. Even small, weak looking creatures can often fight. Sometimes, even well. Unexpected, is all.

True enough. The things out there don't bother me so much as the ones in here, but only a little.

Ah. The people here bother you? Heh.

[somakemelaugh]

Not so much the people as these [He shakes the phone around in his hand. Vigorously. For a few seconds.] little things right here and half the rest of the devices like it in this place. Gets in the way, it does, but they're everywhere. People don't live without them now.

Phones. It's the way of life now. Convenient for long distance communication.

So it is. I do wish I'd been around to see it all progress. There's a fairly large missing link from what I once used and this. People in my time used a box the size of your chest with two cones, one attached to a thick cord. If they didn't have that, they put a thing called ink to paper, which I'm glad you still have around, and they sent it in another piece of paper to whoever it was meant to be read by. Took days, weeks.

Interesting. What does count as ancient to you, if not pencils and paper when you have this little thing that you call a phone? I'm very curious to know.
