The festival was cute. Nice little distraction for all of us who got dropped here out of nowhere.

We’re stuck here and have to get used to it. Sure. But who knows the best place to check out fresh foods and spices? I need samples. May as well be eating whatever they give me blindfolded until I know what’s in it. They could be feeding us alien donkey balls for all we know.

Just because we’re stuck in another world doesn’t mean we have to eat like heathens.

There's this market that runs once a week, I'm a big fan.

So far I've been able to find equivalents to most shit from home, plus some new stuff. Careful about the spices if you're not used to that sorta thing.

Don't mind them. Taste better mixed with other flavors. Pretty bland on its own. Cranberries more my thing.

I can figure out what's worth eating and what ain't worth the paper it's wrapped in on my own, but I want to see the source first. Which is why I asked about the shopping around here. Markets, orchards, butcheries, free range farms, all that jazz.

If you ignore the color they're a pretty good match for cranberries, tiny bit sweeter so you gotta account for that, but they're flavor is great.

i'm talking about looking through their records, figuring out what's getting fed what and where they ship it out to, how good the backstage looks where the customers don't get to see.
gotta make sure they're not just keeping up appearances, right?

Have you found the food to be that terrible? Everything I've tried has been wonderful so far. Save, perhaps, my own attempts at cooking.

Nah bruh. I can handle that just fine. I got a nose for good ingredients. Don't need nobody else looking at them for me. If you know where some stops are I'd be grateful but I can assess all by myself.

There's a few places I like to shop for ingredients. I prefer prepare all of my own food.

Nothing better than what you know you made with your own hands. Unless you spent all day making shit for everybody and their mama. Sometimes you want a little break, and I ain't getting that unless I know anything and everything.

[Not to mention that he's a bit of an overachiever with work and being able to scout new places for the best produce and cuts will definitely help with his new job as a sous chef. It's hard to do well when you don't know half the shit your kitchen is supposed to make.]
