One of the things people don't do often is talk about the good things they've done or have right now. Sometimes being away from home is hard, so sharing helps!

So what's one good thing in your life right now? Yesterday, I got a cat out of a tree! It wasn't very happy but the owner thanked me a lot.

A little, but I was already dealing with that at home, and they have a lot of practice with it here, at least.

What's it like back home?

[causational]

Well, they didn't have a way to stop them from using their super powers at home, so we had to improvise, which meant there was an illegal prison. I didn't like that at all, but it was the only way to keep them from hurting or killing more people. At least when I was there, I could help make sure it was ethical.

[supersweet]

I don't get it. Why were there so many people with powers in just your town? That's not normal.

[causational]

There was an accident. An explosion that gave a lot of people powers all at once. I don't know the science behind it, but it was a particle accelerator that exploded, and I think they said it was dark matter too?

[supersweet]

Yeah, that could do it. That kind of effect is hard to control and it tends to spread.

It must be hard. Controlling powers always is.

[causational]

I don't know how they handle it. I didn't get any, personally, but I worked with someone who did, a little. The Flash? I don't know if you've heard of him. Definitely helps with tracking down the metas.

[supersweet]

Of course I know the Flash! He's part of the Justice League.

I have his action figure at home.

[causational]

Whoa! I don't often run into people here who do. What's the Justice League? I've never heard of that. I wonder if we're from different timelines, because he definitely doesn't have any action figures at the point I come from.

[supersweet]

Well he should.

You don't know the justice league? You know. Superman. Batman. Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Green Lantern. . . .

[causational]

I definitely agree. He's really cool.

[Even when he's trying to steal your girlfriend...]

No, I don't! Tell me about them?

[Eddie's starting to get the feeling that this person is on the younger side.]

Sure! I know all about them.

Batman mostly lives in Gotham and he solves crimes. He tends to look scary. He also doesn't like pie. I think. He's weird like that. Wonder Woman is the coolest! She has an amazing jet and winged horses! She's also super tough but nice.

Superman is the best superhero though.

[causational]

Who doesn't like pie? How does that happen?

I've never even seen winged horses except on notebooks for little girls and heavy metal album covers. That's pretty cool, though.

What's Superman like?

[supersweet]

I told you. He's weird.

I think they're called pegasus or something. And Wonder Woman is a woman so you need to respect her.

Superman's strong. He believes in people and wants to always help out.

[causational]

Sounds like it.

Hey, I didn't mean any disrespect. I just meant that the winged horses sounded cool, because I'd never seen them before.

He sounds like a good person. I like the sound of it.

[supersweet]

They're all good. They're the Justice League. No one else comes close. They have a tower in space to help them solve problems.

[causational]

Wait, a real tower in space? You have to tell me more. I have a friend who would LOVE to hear about this.

[supersweet]

No problem. This is all kind of common knowledge stuff.

Not common knowledge where I come from. Or when? When maybe? I have no idea if you're from my world but a different time...

[supersweet]

Well, it sounds like your Flash is new and stuff. So give it a few years?

I'm from an alternate reality anyway so things aren't gonna match up.

[causational]

Yeah, he's pretty new. Less than a year being a hero, at the point I'm from.

[That catches him a little off guard. He knows what alternate realities are!]

You are? Oh wow. Can I ask what happened?

[supersweet]

Super new then.

What do you mean?

[causational]

The only alternate timeline I know of happened when The Flash ran back in time and changed the past. I think. Like I said, I'm not much of a scientist.

I was just wondering what happened to cause your alternate timeline, I guess. Unless it's sensitive.

[The one he knows of is definitely sensitive to at least a couple people.]

[supersweet]

I don't really know the details. My original timeline collapsed around the time I was born and we got moved somewhere else. But certain timelines have always kind of existed side by side. I don't know if the Flash had anything to do with it.

[causational]

Huh. I only really learned that time travel was a thing that could happen a few months before I showed up here. My world has been changing a lot, really fast.
