[The video opens up on Ivar in the hallway of the hospital, sitting right outside a room. His free hand has a knife in it, fiddling round with it. Some might notice there's holes in the wall from where he's already stabbed through it a few times. He's got a grim look on his face and his eyes are hard, like someone facing a battle that they know they can't win.]

For those who care, Letha's in the hospital. Things aren't looking good. She's-- [There's a moment where something flickers over his face, an expression filled with pain and worry. Then he composes himself again.] --Something's gone wrong with her daughter, and according to the doctors, it's draining her life force. They don't know if they can fix what's wrong with her.

[For a moment, it appears that's all he's going to say. Then he turns and swiftly drives the knife into the wall again, burying the blade right up to its hilt. Well, Ivar wouldn't be himself without an irrational spike of anger.] Someone distract me before I kill one of these useless doctors.

Tell me, what did the doctors say about Letha and how her strength is failing, more specifically. Can you, Ivar?

[ And honestly, this sounds pretty fucked up so count him on his way to see what can be done (if anything). ]

And I don't know who Letha is but this doesn't sound all that medical in nature. Did they give you any other details?

[ragnarsson]

[Ivar yanks the knife out of the wall. He's trying very hard to put on a stoic face, but he looks more like he might crumple inwards at any moment. It's clear how much this is hurting him.]

Apparently, this has been going on for a while, maybe even for months, what with her daughter getting bigger and developing more with time. They think dying and coming back might have had something to do with it. She's been getting weak and having these dizzy spells, but she wouldn't go to the hospital until she literally couldn't move anymore.

[ragnarsson]

If they'd do their jobs properly, I wouldn't have to consider it.

[Right now, all Ivar could see was a bunch of useless healers. What good were they if they couldn't even make a pregnant woman better?]

They think her dying and coming back to life might have had some strange effect on her child.

[potentialed]

[ He would say that it's all a bit more complicated than that even if he agrees with the sentiment in general. Doctors should be able to do their job and help people. But Stephen knows better than most that it's not always possible. He would say this, until Ivar drops that bit of information.

He's almost left speechless. Almost. ]

...well, they aren't wrong. Humans don't work that way.

[ Usually. ]

How did she accomplish this?

[It's a strange tale, Ivar knows, and even he never got all of the details. But he's got enough of the story to tell the doctor what he needs to know to possibly help .]

She died in her own world, but since she was a necromancer and her spirit was outside of her body at the time, she couldn't properly move on to the afterlife. Her spirit and that of her daughter's was trapped in between and begun to rot. Don't ask me how that works. When she was pulled here, she was brought back to life.

I told her to go sooner. I'll make sure to visit her, if it's okay. She's so... It just isn't fair.

[ a sigh. ]

If you're good with those knives, I'll spar with you. Is that distraction enough?

[ It is strange but Stephen has seen a lot stranger by now. If anything, this is more worrying. And even baffling. ]

Her physical body died? The unborn child's spirit was still inside it when it happened?

[ It sounds like an astral excursion gone wrong but then he knows necromancy is not something to mess with lightly. ]

[ragnarsson]

I was stupid enough to believe her when she said everything was fine. [He'd been such a fool and now she was paying the price.] She's resting right now, but I'm sure she'd want some visitors.

[He nods.] That'll work. Just don't blame me if you end up in here too.

Can you explain more clearly about her condition? More importantly, what exactly happened to her and her daughter?

You've got it in one, Doctor.

[He's trying not to have too much hope, but this man rests at a crossroads between science and magic. Maybe he can help her where others have failed.]

She's been getting weaker by the months. Dizzy, fainting, not being able to get out of bed sometimes. I thought maybe it was just because she wasn't strong physically, that the pregnancy was wearing her down.

[Something flickers in his eyes, worry and pain for someone that he loves.]

Today was the worst I've ever seen her. She looked like she-- [But he can't say the words out loud. That she looked like she was dying.]

They say something is very different about her daughter. That somehow she's draining her life away unintentionally. They're looking for a way to stop it, but for right now, there's nothing more they can do.

[ He hisses it out. ]

The child needs to get out of her body. Whether it's alive or not, I can bet that's what is doing it. Not sure why exactly. Necromancy isn't something I studied much of. But it needs to come out.

[ Now he just needs to find where the hell they have her. He wants to believe his colleagues would know to do this but who knows. ]

[Sycamore is surprised to hear that Letha's pregnant. But judging by Ivar's explanation, he feels that something is wrong with this.]

I-I'm sorry to hear that. I wish I could do more to help her.

[ragnarsson]

I know her. She'll only agree to that if you can guarantee her daughter won't be harmed and will be born alive.

[Istrid was the last piece she had of her husband and her home. Letha would fight tooth and nail to keep her baby, despite the fact it was killing her.]

Room 315.

[ragnarsson]

You and me both, Professor. Only thing to so right now is hope and pray.

[Ivar hopes at least one of the Aesir is listening.]

[He really wants to help her. But in this situation, he will have to take Ivar's word for it and prays for Letha's recovery and survival.]

What about her Pokemon then? Are they in a safe place?

[potentialed]

[ He frowns at that. ]

That's just it: I don't know if her daughter is still her daughter. I don't know how this magic works but if her child is running the risk of sucking the life out of her, a choice will need to be made.

[ A little softer, ]

And I think you already know that.

[ There's no delicate way to put that and from what he knows of Ivar, he wouldn't appreciate kid gloves or tiptoeing around something this serious. Especially if it's someone he cares for. ]

But I'll try to do what I can for her. If she'll let me.

[ Already he's getting his sling ring out and mentally picturing the third floor. He can get there faster if he can open a portal there. ]

Sprig is at the house in his Pokeball. He hasn't been getting as much exercise as he should since she got ill.

[Useless little critter didn't even help out around the house when she was sick. What good was that walking tree stump?]

Hell of a choice to make.

[Letha would want them to save their daughter if it came down to a choice between them. But Ivar didn't know if he could have the strength to go through with it. To lose her would open another hole in his heart that might never heal. He's already lost so many people in his life. When will it end?

He's contemplating this when the portal opens. Instinctively, his hand goes to his knife, holding onto it even after Strange steps through. He eyes the sorcerer with the suspicion of a man who doesn't have much faith left that his problems will have an easy solution.]

That's quite an entrance, Doctor.

Did she say anything regarding her Phanthump? Like some instructions or favors she gave before she got hospitalized?

[ragnarsson]

Just not to feed him too much.

[He could be a little bit of a glutton when he was left to his own devices.]

[potentialed]

[ It is. And Stephen is hoping it won't come to that but he can't rule out the possibility just yet. He'll try to exercise any other options if he can.

He hangs up when he sees Ivar there, pocketing his phone. He waves a hand to close the portal and gives a nod and shrug. ]

Saves on time.

How long has this been going on with her?

I first noticed around Prijata, so about two months ago now.

[He's just going to not mention the fact that he had gotten into a fight with her which had threatened to turn physical when Ivar had noticed how weak Letha was becoming.]

I thought it was just the usual strain of being pregnant, but she kept getting weaker. She'd seem to get better when I was around or touching her, but as soon as I was gone, she'd get worse again.

[He'd chalked it up to coincidence at the time, but now he's not wondering if there was something more going on. Somehow, his touch seemed to counteract whatever effects their daughter seemed to be causing.]

[Considering that he was surprised when he saw him chow down a can of Pokemon food.]

Will it be okay for her if I he lives somewhere until she recovers?
