[The video opens with a rather hesitant looking Shiro. There's really nothing behind him as of the moment, but he does glance over at something almost right as the video kicks on]

So... it seems this place just keeps getting weirder. It seems we had some recent arrivals from our world and well... it's better to show you.

[He turned back to whatever he had been looking at]

Come here. You can come here.

[Faintly in the background there was the sound of metal moving off screen then something walked into view of the camera so others could see it. It was quite clearly a black robot lion with glowing yellow eyes, several panels glowing blue, and red wing like protrusions on its back. It's was larger than a normal lion. It walked over and sat down next to Shiro, leaning in as though trying to figure out what he was holding]

This is the Black Lion of Voltron. However, its usually not this... small.

[Yes, he is calling a robot that's larger than a normal lion small]

I'm usually shorter than Black's foot. Let me see it.

[This he says to the lion, which does raise one leg to let Shiro have its foot, but it basically drops all the weight into his hand which makes him flinch]

You are still made of metal and heavy.

[Someone might be able to faintly hear the snickering in the background, but then the next thing that happens is that Keith suddenly fell into the frame of the camera as though shoved by something, a vague red blur before it vanished. Shiro jumped when this happened and the Black Lion got up heading off camera again only to return a moment later carrying a smaller red lion by the "scruff" of the neck as Keith sat up. Shiro just put his chin in his free hand watching as Black carried Red off before he remembered this was still rolling and turned back]

They don't know their own strength.

[ooc: Meet your new neighbors, two of the lions from Voltron! Black is about the size of large liger and Red is the size of a small lion. They are... slightly more active than normal, but will probably be around their specific paladin for the most part.

Either Keith or Shiro is available to answer. If you have a preference or if your character is pinging a specific person, just let us know. It can even be both if you'd like! If no preference, random response.

[ He gives a slight wave as he approaches. ]

A pleasure to see you again, Keith.

Same to you.

[The Lion stared, watching as X'rhun approached.]

This is Red.

Hello Red. I appreciate your color scheme.

[ As if it weren't evident by the fact that he's always dressed in red, himself.

He holds out a hand towards the Lion, letting the machine approach him at its own pace. ]

[Keith smirked a bit at the comment, remembering the explanation about colors and mages.

Red stared with her unblinking eyes for a moment before stepping forward to touch her nose against his hand. She stayed like that a moment before finally lowering her head slightly and touching him with her forehead.

Keith actually smiled a bit.]

Well, for a temperamental lion, she's actually being really well-behaved.

[Of course, that was likely because she was with her bonded Paladin and this was just formalities for diplomatic-like reasons. Best to make a good impression and all that.]

[ He laughs lightly at the observation, gently patting the lion on the head. It's so weird to be dealing with a machine that acts so much like an animal. ]

Mayhaps I simply bring out the best in everyone I meet.

[Keith smiled a little.]

Maybe.

Also, she could be getting used to the idea. This whole situation is really new to her, so she was a little freaked out at first.

That makes two of us.

[ He turns his attention to Red, because she's so lifelike he can't help but want to address her as he would a living thing. ]

I've never met someone quite like you before, you know.

Yeah. I hadn't seen anything like the Lions before we met them, either.

[Red watched X'rhun as he turned to her.]

She likes your color choice in return, by the way.

[Keith looked amused.]

Thank you. As a red mage, I feel it’s important to dress the part, you see.

[ He turns to Keith, head tilted curiously. ]

Does she speak to you?

Mm... sort of? [Keith quirked an eyebrow as Red looked up at him.] It's the easiest way to describe it? But it's not really accurate. It's more like... feelings and ideas that they sort of just... think at us. I don't hear a voice in my head saying words like we are now. But I feel things, and get like mental images and ideas that I know aren't my own.

Though, she seems a little more expressive now. Usually, they're pretty quiet. But maybe the reduced size doesn't use up as much power, so they have extra energy to burn or something.

[Which was kind of a scary thought. The idea of having a hyperactive robot lion with some pretty devastating weaponry capable of running around on her own was a little nerve-wracking.]

Fascinating, but how does one acquire such a mental link?

[ X’rhun isn’t exactly tall- miqo’te are just naturally shorter than most, with a choice few exceptions- so he doesn’t have to bend far to pet the lion on the head. Unless Red gives him some indication that she’d like him to continue, he’ll stop with the petting and stand up straight. ]

Mayhaps in making her more cat-sized she has become more cat-like.

There's definitely a chance that could be part of it, too. She seems to act a lot more like what I remember of real lions back home acting like.

[After all, like this, they were less like the spaceships they had originally been designed to be and more like large companions.

Keith considered the question for a moment.]

It just kind of happened? Princess Allura suggested which Lions we should try to work with based on certain characteristics, I think. She said the quintessence of the Paladin has to be a match to the quintessence of the Lion. Using that, she gave each of us a Lion to try working with, and the Lions accepted us.

Red, here, was a little difficult, but she came around. [After Keith had managed to get sucked out an airlock while trying to break her free from a Galra warship, but sure...] According to Allura, she's the most temperamental of the five.

[For a moment, Red tilted her head back in a way that suggested she might be slightly insulted, but Keith didn't seem bothered.]

Once the Lion accepts you, they initiate the whole 'talking in your head' thing. But, it's kind of like they're always listening, because they pick up on what we're thinking and feeling all the time, and can react, especially when we're in danger or need their help.

Shiro thinks that might be part of how they ended up here. He found out from his Lion that they had picked up on some sort of need and responded to it, which I guess is what brought them through the portal. I'm just surprised they could still pick up on that from back home while the two of us were here.

[ He chuckles a little at the Lion’s reaction. He doesn’t know too much about Keith since their time together has been brief, but learning a bit about Red has given him some insight into her Paladin as well.

All that he’s being told still seems rather fantastical to him, but he’s finding it’s easier to think of the Lions as actual animals rather than machines. Robots in his own world are primitive by comparison, and they certainly lack personality. It’s hard to look at Red, the way she moves and acts and reacts to Keith, and compare her to the soulless machinations of the Garleans. ]

A friend who would follow you across worlds is a treasure indeed. You’re lucky to have so steadfast a companion.

Yeah. I am.

[Red had saved him a few times, even back home. She was a good partner.]

They're definitely more like partners than anything else. I can't think of her as a 'thing'. She's too alive.

Even back home, where they're not as active like this. But here... [He shrugged.] Maybe it's the smaller size giving them more energy or giving them the idea that they can better connect with the world around them. But, I've never felt like she was just a robot.

[He put his hand on the top of Red's head, and the Lion purred softly.]
