[The video flicks on aimed at the front of a truly glorious mansion. The camera sways back and forth a few times to show the whole front of it while Marco hums a dumb little theme song in the background. After a moment, the camera switches to front-facing mode, and Marco's face is visible. He's grinning broadly, dark eyes bright and very happy.]

Hello Riverview, my name is Marco and this is my crib.

[The camera bobs as the sound of a door opening can be heard in the background, and then Marco switches the view again so a large open-concept living space is visible for a few seconds before he switches the camera to show his face again. He crosses the room to flop down into one of the plush couches and continue smirking a bit at the camera.]

Seriously, though. Not giving the full tour but how did I miss that my sweet mansion totally came through the portal with me? No idea. But I ran into it this morning and I've been with some real estate agent all day figuring out how to get it in my name again. What a pain, right?

[A shrug of his narrow shoulders, and he offers a sardonic smile.]

Anyone else had this happen? Is it on the level?

[A pause and then he laughs a bit.]

This place is totally empty without the maids and Wetherbee.

You- You have a mansion? [ says a kid who has a room in the palace of the Underworld. tho most of the time, he lives in a cabin by himself. ]

And it came through the portal?

Yeah, man. Apparently it's relocated from Santa Barbara to the good old Riverview Quarantine. Don't ask me how, the dude from the Perimeter Guard rattled off a bunch of scientific stuff at me but I didn't get any of it.

[A shrug.]

Guessing you've never had this happen, huh?

[ scratching the back of his head, still looking a bit gobsmacked. ]

Man, that's crazy. Nothing's come through for me, but I'm set up pretty good with the job I've got and the things I have, so it doesn't bother me.

[ except he usually sleeps in the forest instead of the communal housing because of his nightmares, but... well, marco knows a little about that already. ]

I think Ed said the general store he used to run somewhere else ended up here. And one of the Starks ended up with a robot. Same with a few others who've gotten stuff. It's like early Christmas or something. Though I think you probably scored the most.

I... have no idea how that got through the portal. That's even bigger than Frankie's place...

That whole place is yours? Like for real?

And here I thought having a chariot and horse come through was magnificent enough. That place is as big as a castle.

[So Ivar is suitably impressed, if with a slight urge that feels like he wants to pillage the place.]

I'm glad you're happy where you are, but I'm gonna be really glad to get out of Communal Housing, let me tell you. I like my privacy.

[Something Marco knows Nico probably agrees on.]

Huh. That's cool. I didn't even know that stuff came through that often.

Well, I wouldn't say happy, but it works, you know? And I don't blame you. I don't spend a lot of time in the Communal Housing either for obvious reasons.

[ he blows out a breath of air that flutters his bangs. ]

I guess it's a recent thing. Other people have gotten houses and stuff too, but nothing as big as a mansion. I think.

Yeah I have no idea how it works. Like I was telling Nico, the guy from the Perimeter Guard said a bunch of scientific stuff, but I didn't get it really.

And yeah, this is my house from Santa Barbara. I have another place in New York, but this is the one I really like.

Right, ignoring how it works, your place is huge!

[A pause, and he grins a bit.]

[For a few moments, he's quiet. He thinks about his mansion, he thinks about what it's like without the maids and his butler and Jake nearby and his mom and dad. All that empty space.]

I mean, if you really hate Communal, I have a few spare rooms here.

[ for a few seconds, nico stares at the feed, at marco, eyes a little wide. he's surprised by the gesture for sure, though maybe it makes sense. marco has all that space to himself. would he really like it being alone? nico knows he feels empty enough in the darkness of the hades cabin back at camp where it's just him. ]

Are you sure? I mean- I guess it wouldn't be too different from being at the housing, but...

Having a pool is definitely nice.

So... I guess you'll be moving out soon?

Yeah, I'm sure.

[He shrugs. Nico's observation is a little too close for comfort, so maybe it's good that he had it silently.]

There's a few sorta suites, I guess. Rooms with their own bathrooms and stuff. You'd have some privacy.

Oh yeah, as soon as possible. Why live in Communal when you could live here?

[Gesturing vaguely around him, he grins.]

That's really... very cool of you. I don't take up much space, so I don't need anything big. It'd be awesome to put up some posters, though. I got a cool Sex Pistols one I've had nowhere to put for a while.

[ and he manages a smile, grateful for the suggestion and the offer. but being one to not take something without offering something in return... ]

I make really good money at Trixie, so I can pay for stuff too, if it helps. And- And I'll have my room soundproofed. You know.

I mean it's gorgeous.

That's fine, I mean, I can't judge at all about taking up space, because look at my house. Usually it's just me and sometimes a girlfriend or whoever.

[A shrug.]

If you want to pitch in for groceries or something, that'd be cool. And don't worry. Every room in this baby is already soundproofed.

[Tilting his head a little, he raises a brow at her.]

You okay?

[ a girlfriend? oh. nico does a pretty good job of hiding his disappointment. ]

Already soundproofed? [ his brows shoot up at that. ] I guess that's a good thing if you have a girlfriend.

[Marco snorts at that, and he's thankful for his tan skin because it means he doesn't flush much.]

Man. That's not why I had it...

[Waving a hand, he purses his lips, then changes the privacy level.]

It was because all the people that would've probably ended up in those suites had nightmares, just like you and me.

A fire horse, no less. You should come and ride with me sometime.

[The eighth-century equivalent of inviting your crush to come check out your sweet wheels. Hmmm, now back to the task at hand. How does one pillage a mansion...?]

I guess you're moving out of the shared housing, right?

[No, he's staunchly refusing to sound at all disappointed by the fact he won't have easy access to Marco anymore.]

That's right, you said...

[ his brows furrow as he watches marco. the more he talks to this boy, the more he realizes there's more to marco than meets the eye. there's more to him than the cheerful facade. it makes nico want to dig more, find out more about him. ]

How often? How bad? You don't have to tell me, it's just... I'm not used to being around people who get them as bad as I do.
