[Wicked punishments for wicked angels. She sits near the edge of the roof, dangling her legs as if she is not several stories up.]

[Ah that saddens her.] None of mine ended well either. Except... Maybe for the last.

[Rey remembers that conversation. God is dead and all that. Funny to think how her brother would have reacted to hearing such a thing.]

Mm. No one's coming after me -- guess that makes me the last, too. [She's conflicted about this, really. It's what she wanted, and yet the finality is unsettling.] Couldn't tell you how well that's going. Ended up here, after all.

I am no longer alone. [She does not explain, but there is a deep sense of relief behind her words.] That might not be a bad turn of events. I can help you stay safe here.

[That is... not an offer that Rey is used to hearing. Most of the time it's her defending the physical well-being of others. Her safety comes last. Though she has been forced to adjust her priorities from time to time.]

Ah, thanks. You don't need to worry about that, though. Am pretty used to looking after myself. [That's been her whole damn life, after all.]

[Everyone needs a break from their duties. Alexiel knows the feeling of being held down and forced to go through the motions of mortal life. Most angels can't appreciate how hard it is to be human.]

It's nice to rely on someone else once in awhile. I promise I won't let you down.

Guess so. [A sharp, nervous laugh.] You make it sound like you're already committed to the idea.

[Dealing with others is still new territory for her. Best to tread lightly -- it's almost worse than any minefield she's been on.]
