What do you think of one person - one soul - living multiple lives? There are religions that embrace it, but to others it is considered...wrong; maybe even evil.

[Wicked punishments for wicked angels. She sits near the edge of the roof, dangling her legs as if she is not several stories up.]

Are you in charge of it? If you're not, it's not your choice so it can't be your shame.

If you failed as a woman, what would be different as a man? (Noctis sees little difference between the genders. They have female warriors that fight alongside the men.)

I'm not a woman, but I know a lot of them. That's not what it takes to be a woman. Besides, if that's what you want to be, just be feminine now.

You think you'd be more worthy if you were a man? That's not making sense at all. I don't know what you've done, but if you need to make up for something, do better things. That'd make up for a lot more than changing your gender.

Men can go to battle; they can become soaked in blood. As a woman, I have -

I have lived so many lives where all I did was suffer. I was weak and helpless under society's pressure. [This is a woman who has been lynched, burned, murdered.] When I was a man, at last, I had found the perfect vessel. He was successful in killing god and fulfilling my dearest wish.

The men I know get soaked in blood for the right cause. If they don't, they're monsters, even if they're men or women.

I don't think it's like that here, where men have to be one way and women another. In this life, you can just figure out what you want to be without all of that.

Your world is different. I was a monster for killing. [Whether it was right or not didn't really matter.]

That's a new freedom for me. I do not know what I will do with it. [Besides enjoy the simple pleasures.]

Did you hate the killing, or did you hate not being liked for it?

I didn't want to kill. It became a habit; I did it because it had to be done. There was no other way to stop -

[She takes a breath.]

I also don't need to be liked. I didn't care until I made...friends. Then my heart began to feel. I realized I was lonely.

Then, if you're here, you don't need to kill anymore so you don't need to be a man. You can be who you want to be here.

As part of the perimeter guard, I cannot say my hands will stay clean. But I am a woman again and that has its advantages.

You're going to be defending people. Does that make it better?

(Perhaps Noctis was just raised with fighting so integral that he assumes it helps more than it does.)

Will that make me heroic? [It's laughable, but maybe it will bring her closer to how she had been as Setsuna.]

A lot of things make a hero. If you're defending the people of the city, yeah, I guess you'd be one too.

There are many who would point out the irony, but I do not mind guarding others. I would not be able to stand aside if they were suffering anyway.

You're starting over, right? So there's nothing ironic about it.
