[Hello Riverview, you're going to be greeted by the friendliest face you'll ever see on the network this morning. A pale, stylized skull mask and a voice that belongs to some edgy supervillian from some futuristic videogame or something. Dressed in all black and yes--he does seem to be leaking black smoke when he speaks. It's normal, probably.]
Far from home, in a place you don't recognise. Seems like a dream, or at least some sort of really bad joke, doesn't it.
[His tone is calm, dry--almost sarcastic in nature.]
It's not. And you're going to have to get used to it. It's nice here too, isn't it? What with all the flowers and the festivities. [Yeah, definitely sarcastic.] Hoping that's enough to keep those of you who might get bored on your toes.
There's shit normal people don't need to see outside the walls of this Quarantine. So do me a favour, and don't be stupid in going to investigate what lies out there on your own because you seek adventure.
Because if you seek that alone, you also seek Death.
Name's Reaper. Not interested in making friends, but for those of you who are capable, I'm interested in looking for people. People who are capable of working in groups to pull some of the harder jobs that involve getting your hands and weapons dirty--and people who are capable of following orders.
Not a stranger of pulling idiots out of a fire, but I'm not a goddamn babysitter, either.
[Friendly, isn't he.]

[ action ]
Clark has been around the perimeter and deep into the forest on his own without trouble. He avoids the guard patrols because he doesn't like to be observed or get in the way of their own operations. Clark's not a soldier and Superman's not a replacement for what the guards do.
It never hurts to know what the others around here can do. Reaper sounds experienced. At the least, Clark might learn something from him. It'd be worth a conversation.
He listens until he's sure he knows how to find this mysterious 'Reaper' from his distinct voice and breathing. He can't judge. The codename is not less silly than Superman.
Clark lands on the balcony when he's sure Reaper's alone on the floor. It's night-time. His bright colours don't stand out as much. ]
I'm looking for Reaper?
Re: [ action ]
So, due to years of working in the military followed by life as a mercenary, he has one of two thoughts: A: This man either knows of him, of what he does and wants to hire him for some sort of job. or B: This man knows him through rumormills and horror stories and has come to take his life for whatever bounty's on his head.
Resulting in Reaper moving to stand from where he'd been sitting in floor 8's common room, answering irritating texts. He gives this man a hard look, but not yet reaching for a weapon.]
You're speaking with him.
And you are?
no subject
No weapon Reaper has would be do anything to Clark, though. ]
My name is Kal-El. I saw your message on the network.
no subject
He forgets the gun for now.]
Decided to come see me in person, then?
Odd, but I can see why.
no subject
[ It's not paranoia if they really are out to get you, Gabe.
Clark watches the wisp of smoke. He can hear something odd about it and he might take a closer look. ]
What kind of job did you have in mind?
no subject
He raises his shoulders up in a shrug. Were the other to get a closer look at that smoke, he'll find it isn't so much your traditional smoke; as if Reaper's been having a cigarette. But rather, like the smoke that rises from someone who's burning alive, carbon mixed with dead cell-sized nanomachines.]
Something more than just your regular monster hunting and perimeter control. There are things out there that I've seen that I don't trust. The less of them around, the better.
[And a way to kill the boredom, on top of it.]
Never did like walls as a form of protection. Eventually, something comes along to knock them down.
no subject
He nods at Reaper. ]
I've been deep into the forest. What have you seen?
[ Clark has seen more than the average adventurer into the forest. He's curious as to what this man can do. ]
no subject
Creatures with too many teeth for mouths too small to host them all. Great shambling creatures that shouldn't by all rights exist--and yet, they're out there just laying claim to the land.
Went on a mission to fix a problem with a few... helping hands and got ambushed by a group of them. But from what I could tell, they were like pilot fish.
...You know. The small creatures that attack smaller prey, or feed on what the bigger ones miss out on.
[He hasn't been as deep as Kent has by all likelyhood--but that doesn't mean he's not interested. After all, he's hard to kill.]
no subject
I've seen those. They've stayed far enough from the perimeter.
[ Now he knows how far into the forest Reaper can go. ]
if you need extra muscle, I'm available. I warn you, I'm not a soldier.
[ He's not going to see things the way Reaper does because of that alone. Clark will listen but if he sees no reason to, he won't. ]
no subject
For now. Never know when one might get the idea to try to get past the wall for a lark.
[There's that paranoia again. 30 years of war does that to a man.]
You don't have to be a soldier to be useful in a fight. So long as you can handle yourself and understand tactics, that's all that matters to me.
I've worked with less capable-looking people than you. Besides.
If you've 'seen' the monsters I'm talking about and got out, it means you either know how to handle yourself, or you run fast. [Lol]
no subject
[ He doesn't trust people very much but they're not often stupid. ]
Actually, I fly.
[ That was probably obvious from how he got to the balcony. There's no fire escape to climb up. ]
no subject
He tips his head up to look at him.]
I've met a number of supernatural people here, and in the place I was before here. Flight, teleportation, the ability to jump stories high...
You know, shit like that doesn't exist where I'm from. [He almost sounds... curious, and maybe a little bitter.]
Flight is a good enough asset as it is. I'll be appreciative to have you along on my excursion.
no subject
[ He's not supernatural. Clark decides not to add which planet he's from. "Alien" seems good enough for this guy.
He won't go into not being used to this either. ]
When you're going, shout for me. I'll hear you.
no subject
It's certainly good enough, even if he seems to consider Kal-el from under that carbon fiber mask.]
Makes me wonder exactly how good your hearing is for something like that.
no subject
[ Clark smiles showing he's teasing.
Truthfully, he's never thought about it beyond "I hear everything". ]
