[Cass is in the common living room on Floor 6 when she records this. She's wearing a purple hoodie that's a size or two too large for her, and she holds up her phone, thinking.]

So, um--hi. [A little wave at her phone's camera, and it's definitely kind of uncertain and awkward.] I'm Cassandra. Tim, Jason, and Damian's... sister, if you know them. Got here a few weeks ago. I was... wondering, if any of you knew anything about... neurology? Brain structure. Um, language centers, especially. Maybe... different ways to teach? I had a scan done--back home. About a month before I... got here. I'm not... wired right, I guess. Or just... different? It's...

[She cuts herself off with a frustrated sigh, closing her eyes for a second. The words aren't lining up right. Scrubbing a hand back through her hair before she continues, moving onto another point. Forget where she had been trying to go with that before, doesn't matter now.]

So. I need to, uh, learn to read. Normal ways don't work.

[She pauses, thinking, before changing gears.]

And, um, Steph and I are... joining the Guard. So if anyone wants to train, or spar... uh, let me know? I'm a good teacher. Learned from... all of the best.

[Yeah uh. She guesses that's it? Video over.]

[Well, he's not sure he's much help for the first part of this request. Bucky doesn't think he'd be much help, teaching reading, but this is Jason's sister and he feels like he should offer something. He likes Jason, knows how much he does to look after his family here.]

I ain't the guy to ask about brains, but I know what it's like to have somethin' messed up in your head. [Granted, his own brain damage was from a traumatic injury, exacerbated by different brainwashing techniques, but still.] There are a lot of smart people here. Maybe one of them can help.

I'm with Search and Rescue, but I spar with the new recruits sometimes. If you want someone to go up against who ain't a newbie.

Don't know if it's messed up. [Sure, she's got her share of mental illness and trauma to deal with but that's a separate issue from how her brain's wired. Even if the wiring is definitely a result of something that was Done To Her. ... Okay yeah it's kind of messed up.] Just different. But... thanks. I hope so.

[It's nothing wrong with her, she thinks. Still, it's a matter of getting more information and finding an approach that works.]

Different, then. Sorry. [He didn't mean for that to sound offensive, he's just not the most tactful with his words. His once silver tongue is more of a heavily tarnished thing these days. It's probably telling that his own mental state equates "not wired right" with "messed up".] Someone here can probably figure out how to help.

It's okay. [Bucky seems like he's being sincere at least, even if she can't see him. No reason to hold anything against him, at least; she gets where he's coming from. She just can't be sure if she's put together the way she is entirely because of her father's experiment, though that's definitely where most of it comes from. And the first well-meaning attempt to "fix" her had... well, anyway. Moving on.] People are offering.

[Cass nods. That name sounds familiar, but she can't place it right now. Whatever.]

Mm, well, I can't think of any. I'll run you through some brain scans and give you a few tests. We'll go from there.

I can kind of just will stuff to happen. Sometimes it doesn't work, here? But it usually does.

[Freya waves a hand at the screen.]

That said, I'm all for training or sparring. I'm not really a big fighter, I'm more of a dodger, but that seems to be a thing here so I figured I actually need to try to do something about those skills.

[She nods pretty emphatically at that first part. "Normal" isn't something she has a huge frame of reference for in general.]

Can't hurt to try. Total beginner, or...?

[Her normal remark is a quote from the Addam's family, not that she expects people to catch that. She's already found a lacking number of people who know who the Ghostbusters are.]

Not total beginner. I got some skills, I just usually use them to run the fuck away.

[Good call, Freya, because Cassandra's cultural lexicon is sorely lacking. The curse of technically being from a pre-streaming service period and kind of just watching whatever she happens across on TV that seems interesting. Most of her cultural touchstones are trashy horrible soap operas and reality shows and laugh track sitcoms, and all within the past couple of years.

She nods again, thinking. She doesn't exactly teach or think of fighting in terms of styles, but moves from soft styles sound like what Freya might adapt to most easily.]

Nothing wrong with that. Plenty of styles are mostly... dodging and blocking.

[Freya nods her head in an energetic bob.]

Yeah, I know. That's all I really got going for me right now. Which is fine but this city is so small. I'm not sure how far I can run before that won't work anymore.

[It's a super depressing thought for her but she's trying not to focus on it.]

Let me know when and where. Even if it's just a start, it'll help.

[This isn't unwelcome at all. Makoto seemed really nice and interesting before, so of course she's glad to see her. Cass nods at her response, huffing out a silent laugh while smiling a little. This sounds a lot like Barbara, and not in a bad way.]

Sure, if you don't mind. I can't say I'd mind having a few more skills to draw on if I need to.

[After all, no need to worry so much about fair and square if she's fighting Shadows or other monsters.

Either way... wouldn't mind another partner. Weren't a lot of people who could... keep up with me, back home. [Even for a brief amount of time. And even though she hasn't pushed herself all that hard in a sparring session yet...] Seems like there are more, here.

Well I suppose we won't know without giving it a try. And I can't say I would mind getting more training in. I wouldn't want to get rusty.

[She wouldn't let herself but a sparring partner friend would be nice to have.]
