[The girl on the other end of the feed looks a bit troubled, but manages a smile nonetheless.]

Hello, everyone. My name is Haru Okumura - but I would rather be called Haru, if that is okay. I'm... a newcomer here, so I'm afraid I only know a little bit about what's going on. [She's still sorting through what she was told upon arriving.]

I'd like to get to know some of you, if that is possible. I'm a high school student, myself, in my final year. I enjoy tending to the garden I had on the rooftop of my school, and I also like reading in my spare time. [She pauses in thought, and then realizes she forgot something.] Oh! They also offered me a job related to gardening here, it seems. I haven't accepted it yet, but I plan on doing so once I get acquainted with the situation here.

I-I hope that we can become friends. [A beat.] And if someone knows of anyone that went to a school named Shujin Academy, please let me know. I'm... particularly looking for someone named Akira Kurusu.

[She offers a final wave before concluding her video.]

Haru. It's good to see you again.

[Is it a surprise that the background is what seems to be a library? Probably not. She wouldn't normally, but it's quiet right now - possibly something to do with how everyone's getting sick - and Makoto can't really ignore this.]

Akira's here too. We're the only ones, unless someone else has slipped in without me noticing.

[And there's so much she wants to ask right now but one step at a time. No need to bombard her with everything all at once so she'll start with an easy one.]

Where are you staying?

Mako-chan! [That smile wasn't uncertain anymore. And considering it's Makoto, it doesn't seem weird at all to Haru.] I'm so glad to see you, too.

So it's just us three? I hope the others are okay, then...

[After all, it was right before the most important mission they had...]

Um... I've been assigned to the eighth floor of the Communal Housing. I haven't been there yet, though.

I see. You're quite a few floors up then but that's still not so far away.

[That's good. At least if there's an emergency they're almost in the same place already.]

From what I've come to understand, they won't notice anything wrong. After all, I've been here a couple of months now and Akira was already here then. Also...

[Well. Better to get this out now.]

Both of us remember different things as the last thing we remember before we got here. I don't know how, but I'm further ahead than he is. What's the last thing you remember?

[Because this will make or break some of the theories she's been building.]

Yes, I am very glad to know that. [A few floors is nothing compared to how far away everyone normally was, after all.]

You have? But I just saw you before arriving here... does that mean... that this is a place that has different rules on how time works?

The last thing I remember... we were going into the Metaverse and entering Mementos to try and change everyone's hearts. But while we were going there, somehow I wound up here instead of Mementos. Some people have tried to tell me how I ended up here, but none of it makes any sense.

[Which is easier in that she knows what not to say, but she can't say there isn't part of her that wishes Haru's answer had been different. She's used to keeping tight-lipped about things but to not even be able to share with the Phantom Thieves? That's something she's finding a little harder.

Not to matter. Haru had asked a question, and Makoto can at least try to answer.]

That seems to be the most logical explanation. At first I thought it might be related to cognition, that our world was creating replacements because we expect each other to be there. But that doesn't make sense with what you just told me so that leaves some sort of time issue. Possibly alternate but very similar timelines, somehow.

I am? What about you, Mako-chan? Are you from after that, or before? Or... would that mess with time if you were to tell me?

[This is all really confusing to her, as it probably is to Makoto too.

And as much as the thought pops into her head, she decides she doesn't want to go down the road of thinking if this is 'her' Makoto or not -- specifically, the one from her specific timeline. Makoto is Makoto, even if she might be from an alternate timeline. She's still her friend.]

Time and timelines seem really confusing to think about... especially with how things work in our world.

I'm from after. Only a day, but...a lot happened in that time. Nothing we couldn't handle though.

[Which is downplaying the situation rather a lot but that's the best Makoto can think to do while she's not sure anything she could tell them would actually help them any.]

Things are definitely more complex than they first seem. Different worlds, different times...all we can really do is get by and take the chances to learn more when we find them.

Oh... that is well, then. [Considering what they were doing... Makoto's words bring Haru relief. Whatever happens, they can handle it. Just like always... well, almost always.]

If there really are people from other worlds here... I would definitely like to meet them. I want to learn as much as I can.

Well, you're already living with some of them. Which...doesn't always mean easy to get along with. Oh and there's this youth group that works on various things around the place, not so long ago we were helping to clear out this abandoned amusement park. So there's plenty of ways to meet people.

[Heck even Makoto, awkward as she is, has managed to make some friends.]

[ Akira has just been thumbing through the network as he lays on the bed, trying to ignore the sudden exhaustion his body seems to be fighting off the last few days. That seems to disappear - or at least be less noticable - when he sees Haru's familiar face. He bolts upright on his bed, and without even thinking, he hits the reply button.

Makoto, now Haru. How many of the Phantom Thieves are going to end up in Riverview Quarantine? Is it a coincidence? A sign? He isn't exactly sure, but, right now he just wants to make sure his fellow thief is alright.

He doesn't bother trying to fix his disheveled hair or even seem to care he's taken the glasses off his face. He was just laying down. ]

...Haru!

[Until Makoto had told her Akira was there, all she could do was hope he was okay. She'd hoped the others were okay too, of course! It was just... after everything she learned about Akira, and what they all had been through, she'd known she would worry about him until she knew for certain that he was alright.

But seeing his face appear on the video feed is more than she could have hoped for.]

Akira-kun! It really is you... [Granted, she had seen him shortly before winding up here, but it still feels like it's been a lot longer. Maybe it's because of the situation they're in.] When I got here, I wasn't sure what happened. I-I could not help worrying a little about everyone. You especially, of course... it just seems like bad timing to be brought somewhere like this right as we're starting our most important mission.

[ A tired smile spreads on his face as if to confirm that yes -- it is him. It has been about three months since he had seen her or the others. Makoto arrived about a month after him, but, now he does wonder if the rest of the thieves will slowly filter into Riverview. His gaze drifts to the side in thought, only to be brought back quickly when Haru continues to speak. ]

You haven't gone into the Depths of Mementos either?

[ Makoto must still be the only one from their future then. Even if she refuses to tell him what happened in their final mission. ]

[She shakes her head slowly in response.] Mm-mm. I kind of... wound up here in the middle of us going in. It was really strange... I wondered if this was some sort of trick in cognition or something at first.

Are you staying at the Communal housing too?

Y-yeah... on the fifth floor. [ He swings his feet off the end of the bed to stand, not really minding he's in his pajamas at all. ] I was on my way back to LeBlanc before I arrived...

I have been assigned to the eighth floor, so not too far from you.

[A pause, as she gathers herself a bit mentally.]

Um... i-is it okay if I come visit you now, then? I hope I did not wake you up with my message.

Three floors up.

[ Akira gives a brief nod. While it isn't terribly far up, and generally closer than where they are in Tokyo? He still worries. He worries about Makoto too. All this worrying makes him wonder if that's why he gets light headed lately. ]

I'll meet you outside. [ Then, he shakes his head. ] I wasn't asleep.

[She gives her own short nod in response.] Alright. I'll be there shortly.

[Relieved that she didn't wake him up, she makes her way over to the housing building. She's still not familiar with this place yet, but she's made a mental note where it is in the general area. Once she gets to the entrance to the communal housing, she waits for him to arrive.]

[ When she arrives, Akira is waiting outside the building like he said. He rubs the side of his neck with one hand as the other flips through the phone one more time. His glasses have been left upstairs, but, she like the other thieves know that he doesn't really need them anyways. If anything? The pajamas help pass off the idea that maybe he woke up in the middle of the night.

He smiles at her and nods, slipping the phone into his pocket. There is an excitement and urge to run up to her. Tip her backwards and kiss her. Except, well, they're in public, and the extincts built up over the last better half of a year tell him not to. ]

Haru-chan.

[He's mostly here to say hello but that name catches his attention. His and Felix's, the cat hopping onto his shoulder and peering down at the blue-haired teens phone.]

Hello, Okumura-san. My name is Makoto Yuuki. I don't know Shujin but I went to Gekkoukan High School. And I know Akira-kun, I'm glad he has more friends here!

[Mreow!] Oh, right, and this is Felix.

Do you like gardening a lot, Okumura-san?
