I'm not sure how many people she was able to tell about this, but it looks like D.Va is gone now. She got a chance to go back home and finish fighting the war in her own world.

I guess its a chance any one of us would have taken if they had been given it, but... she will be missed.

[He's really trying not to look sad about this, but it is rather hard. He had been close to her and now... she wasn't there]

I just though everyone should know.

Maybe. And maybe they'll come a time when she's done doing what she needs to do, and she'll actually chose to leave her life and come back. That way she gets the best of both worlds. And I really do hope I get the chance to meet her. She sounds like an amazing woman.

Were you friends long?

Maybe. She is amazing. Of course I am a little biased about that.

It had only been about a year. We arrived here at the same time, but there were things that happened that allowed us to get closer to each other pretty quickly. We saw moments that were each other's nightmares and were there to help the other.

[And she hadn't left him after she had seen what he had been through, which had been his fear pretty much since his year with the Galra. What would others do if they saw that?]

Hey! [The word comes with a quick grin in order to emphasize her words.] There's definitely nothing wrong with being biased. Especially when it's someone that you care about a lot. And especially someone who you've been through so much with.

[The idea of sharing nightmares did alarm her suddenly, even if Alex didn't bring it up. that certainly anything that she would want to share with anyone, especially with as specific some of her dreams had gone with demons that were involved with her life.]

Were you guys romantically involved?

[From the way he was talking, Alex almost assumed so, but she'd been on the other side of that equation, and she knew how annoying it could be when someone made the assumption without evidence of what her relationship with someone was. So, it was far easier for the reporter to just ask about it.]

I guess there isn't. It's normal that it happens. [Shiro could agree. He would never choose to do that. Even after seeing how it had helped him get closer to Hana, he still wouldn't recommend it. It was a painful way to do it. It had made him worried about how Hana saw him for a while]

Yeah, we were. We had started spending more time at each other's places.

[Alex just frowned even harder, because she can't imagine how bad it would be to lose someone when they were still in the honeymoon state of dating, especially when there was the complete possibility that they were never going to see one another again. No wonder he needed someone to drag him out of the house. He needed more than that, in Alex's opinion. No, in her mind he needed all of the ice cream and hugs. Perhaps Apo was picking up on his owner's thoughts, because he moved over and gave Shiro's hand a quick lap to comfort him.]

I'm so sorry. That sounds horrible to lose her like this.

[Shiro was kind of lost in thought for the moment after saying that then all of the sudden, there was a dog kiss from Apo, Youta also coming over to look at him as well, like wanting to check on his owner. Shiro couldn't help the faint smile as he reached over to pet Apo and then Youta, getting a big wagging tail from his dog]

Yeah. It wasn't the exactly something I was expecting to hear... and not something I wanted, but I can't stand in her way.

[Alex just watched as the dogs comforted him, and she gave him a soft smile when she raised her eyes to his once more. Without thinking about it, Alex reached over and placed a gentle hand on his own.]

You're a good man for knowing that you know. I don't know if I could be that selfless about the whole thing.

[Shiro's smile grew a little bit more when Alex's hand covered his other. It was very much appreciated during a time that was hard for him, both because he knew this was right answer, but also not what he wanted]

Thanks. I want to be selfish about it, but in the end, I would have done the same thing if given the chance before her.

That's because you're definitely both good people who have things that need doing back home before you can rest and take time out for you, right? I mean, it's hard, but it's also just doing what you two need to do. Who knows, maybe you'll go home and do what you have to do, and then you'll both get pulled back here.

After all, love is love right? And it always wins.

Yeah... that's pretty much it. I'm fighting a war; she's fighting a war. Well, I do hope I get the chance to go back home and finish what's been started, but I do hope I can come back. I've gotten to appreciate this place. It's been a break from home. And I might be able to see Hana again.
