[Stephen looks… well less like a hobo than he has in past months. Still looks like he needs to sleep for a year, but that seems to be standard.

He ran a hand through his hair, frowning down at something outside of view.]

So… I think someone lost a dog in the park?

[He shifts the phone so the camera shows his feet, and the small puppy that was running circles around him. It slowed to a stop when it noticed the attention, peering up at Stephen and his camera, ears perking curiously. But when no treats or attention were forthcoming, it head-butted against his ankle with a bark.

Stephen took a few steps back, which just encouraged the Lillipup to run after him, tail wagging, catching his pant leg in teeth to tug, like he was trying to pull the man along with him, though if even the small pup knew where to was questionable.]

This little guy look familiar to any of you?

[Well, look at that. Homeless wizard has a new friend. Ivar tends to prefer animals to the people around him. They don't judge him the way everyone else does.]

Never seen him before. Might as well bring him back home.

[No, his reasoning behind that isn't getting to play with the dog. Why would you even think that?]

[Scuse you he isn't homeless.

He just looks that way 75% of the time.]

Might not be a bad idea. At least then he's not out where he can get hit by a car or wander out past the wall and get hurt.

[That's his story and he's sticking to it.]

Have you given him a name yet?

[Might as well just give up any pretenses now. It looks more like the dog's adopted him than any other way around.]

[But what if it doesn't what then?]

I don't think naming him is such a good idea, I mean if his owners come back and all...

[Not that he can really say no to that determined little fuzzy face, especially with the pokemon barking again as it props itself up against his leg with it's forepaws and wags it's tail.

Pay no mind to the long-suffering sigh from Stephen.]

...Lamicho, I suppose.

hey, somebody might argue whether it'd be right to bring the little guy home
but, uh, if you asked me...
debating it seems like a mastiff waste of time.
mutt as well just bring em.

Okay so that's two votes for bringing the pup home. Making a ruff choice a lot simpler.

least you attempted to find the owner for pawsterity.
that little guy could be part of somebody's family.
imagine the mind-beagleing grief of losin' someone you love.

It'd make me pretty melancollie, no doubt about that.

[ ..... did you get a dog? oh god. oh god, Tony might be cackling a little bit.]

Stephen, facial hair bro, are you being herded by a puppy? Are you going to call him Wong? I mean, maybe hold off on calling him Wong until he teaches you some tricks, but still--

[Stephen just rolls his eyes as he shifts himself down to crouch and offer the puppy a hand to investigate, which is sniffed intently and then immediately licked before he's allowed to ruffle the pup's ears.]

I'm naming him Lamicho, actually.

[Casually ignoring that suggestion even if it's really obvious who's adopting who here.]

[And here comes Professor Sycamore's star pupil, being as helpful as she can be.]

If it's following you around, it likely doesn't have an owner. They don't tend to stray too far from their masters without reason.

[She can recognize it as a pokemon, but she may or may not be stalling a bit to try and remember its name.]

I don't know, dogs tend to like to roam. At least from what I remember.

[Clearly he doesn't realize that this is a pokemon, he thinks like Ivar's Ponyta when he thinks of those. Not the Lillipup mugging for attention at his feet.

Which he'll crouch down to give finally, god damn you little pup you're lucky you're cute.]

Either way he's pretty friendly. Bossy, keeps trying to herd me around even if he doesn't know where he thinks he's taking me.

Well, he's not a dog. Not exactly.

[She's actually curious to see what the Lillipup's capable... it's Normal type, so she doubts it's as flashy as the sort of things her Phantump will eventually be capable of.

Said Phantump decides to settle into her arms while she's speaking.]

If I'm not mistaken, he's a Pokemon - Ivar and I have them as well. They come from Professor Sycamore's world, and... they tend to have rather functional minds of their own, he may very well have some plan in mind of where he'd like to take you. [She pauses.] Although he may just be trying to lead you to food. Sprig here has a rather one-track mind when it comes to that.

Oh you mean that flaming pony of his? I wasn't aware they came in 'dog flavor'.

[Excuse him, the pup can hear voices coming from Stephen's phone so just has to stick his nose in to investigate what's going on with this thing stealing his unofficial charge's attention.]

I tried going where he led... thought he would head back to where an owner or his home was. Wound up going in a very roundabout circle. Several times now.

[She lets out a little giggle at the sight of the puppy pointedly investigating the phone.]

They come in a variety of... flavors. Sprig is one of them as well, so I suppose... dogs, ponies and treestumps, so far as we've seen here. [She thinks over that last part a moment.] Perhaps he simply wants you to play with him. If you'd like, I could come out and let Sprig have a go with him - he doesn't get many chances to play with other Pokemon.

Well that's something I'll have to keep in mind then...

[He considers the offer, looking down at the pup that's pawing at the phone and his hand, before offering a little shrug.]

I don't see why not. If he's coming back with me, better for him to run out his energy here.

[ okay the thing is kind of cute, he will admit that much.

but his name is totally going to be Wong. just you wait, Tony will even make him a collar and tag. ]

So Wong found you and is now deciding you need to be taken care of. I like him. He can totally reside on the floor with us, does this mean we need to get a dog bed and dog food?

[Oh my god Tony you little shit.]

Lamicho.

[Too bad the name 'Wong' seems to catch the pup's attention more than 'Lamicho' does, even if he doesn't yet equate it with himself. This is a losing battle and Stephen doesn't even realize it.]

Some sort of food definitely. He can just sleep on the bed, better than someone tripping over a dog bed or something like that.

[Stephen will regret this decision in the future. Butthat sounds like Future Stephen's problem not Present Stephen's so fuck that guy.]

Perhaps we can have a battle for fun. They seem to like those.

[She doesn't actually wait for a response before getting up and returning Sprig to his pokeball for travel, because she'll look for any good excuse to get out in the sun. Even better if her Phantump gets some proper attention while she's out.]

[Stephen arches a brow at the idea of 'battling', but at the same time he has no idea about these animals. If it's something the dog actually likes, then he's willing to give it a try.

By the time they get to the park Stephen's settled to sit cross-legged, the Lillipup alternating between running around him for attention and petting, and bringing him sticks.

But only to show him. Stephen clearly isn't allowed to have said sticks, not even if that means he'll throw them.]

[And here comes the little pregnant woman, greeting him with a cheerful little wave when she spots him. Sprig stayed in his ball during the walk, but once she's close enough to speak she pulls the ball from her bag and tosses it up to let him out.]

I see you're both settling nicely - they seem to be rather happy around humans, don't they?

[Sprig floats over to the Lillipup while she's speaking, floating over him and chirping a happy little 'Phan-phantump!' in greeting.]

[Stephen gives a small wave of his own in turn abandoning his attempts to get the stick from the Lillipup.]

They do... If they evolved in a world where they worked with humans often it would make sense, I suppose.

[The Lillipup? Quite happy to run over to investigate the ghost-type, tail wagging as he held the stick in his mouth, which just muffled his returned barks.

Hello new friend! Look at his stick, isn't it great?]

[Letha takes a seat beside Stephen, while Sprig observes the stick and ultimately decides it's very cool.. and that he wants it. A playfight may be in the works.]

If I'm to understand Professor Sycamore correctly, there are no animals in his world aside from these Pokemon. They are all... built to work with humans.

[She doesn't actually understand the use of 'evolve' here... she's only heard it from Sycamore's descriptions so far. And she's before Darwin's time, so it meant little to her back home.]

[Sprig no. The pup? Would pretend like Sprig could take it, only to scamper off again, tail wagging madly.

Chase time!]

That's an interesting concept. It would explain this one's insistence on making friends with me rather than being wary, then.

[Sprig is happy to chase him about, and is even polite enough to not use any of his moves against the pup. He is generally not this polite when Letha is trying to feed him.]

I'm sure it's confused, in a new world without any humans actively seeking to train it. From what I've seen they seem to be happiest after being claimed, but... this one seems to have done the claiming for you.

[She pulls Sprig's pokeball from her bag and shows it to him.] I don't have any extras on hand, but these are what Professor Sycamore taught me to capture them with. Once they entire them... well, I'm not sure exactly what happens but they seem to bond with whoever caught them. They become strictly loyal to that person. And it's easier to carry them around that way, as well.
