[She considered a moment.] No, it might be better for a little while after, or at least on one of the training grounds. Since I would have to test such a weapon out, and doing so in a crowded place would certainly be poor judgement on both our parts.

[The work in cleaning up was long and hard, but she'd dealt with worse in the past. She wasn't so worn out as to make the journey to the training center, the thought of trying a new weapon adding more zeal into her step.]

Mr. Cable, I believe you have something for me.

'Mister'?

[Cable makes a face at that but turns to the case that's waiting alongside with him. He opens it and pulls out a handgun. It's styled like an old flintlock, but with a decidedly more "modern" twist. It's sleeker for one, and has a magazine attached to it.]

Light, but powerful. Fires like an automatic, reloads like one. Recoil is practically non-existent. Button on the side changes how the bullets fire.

[Cable moves the weapon in his hands and then aims and fires at a target from far away. It's a single, clear shot to the head. He presses a button on the side of the gun, making it obvious so Elizabeth can spot where it's at--and then he fires at the same target, shredding it with something akin to buckshot.]

More ammo in the case, along with another knife. Like the one you used against the cultists, but smaller. Won't need to bend your arm to throw it. Practice enough and all you'll need is the flick of a wrist. The gun and knife can be used in junction with one another.

[Cable reaches out with his free hand, the knife zipping from the case to his hand. He points the gun once more with the blade held in a defensive manner while the gun sits atop one of his arms. He shows that the button can still be pressed like this, and fires a clean shot once more.

Whatever way ends up working for her, really.]

[Her eyes widened when she saw the rifle. She had become so used to seeing the more modern designs, that anything resembling the more familiar works-even modified-gave her such a strong feeling of nostalgia.

Of course, she already had an ankle dagger and short sword, but even she couldn't deny the practicality of such a design either.] You are fortunate in having such taste and design in weaponry, Cable. Surely you know I could already handle wielding a knife and gun at once.

[That doesn't stop her eyes from glittering like a child at christmas though, even as she accepts the gum from him. The weight is a little heavier than the model suggests, but she expected as much from to modifications and adjusts her weight to steady her aim.

Rather than unloading the clip at once, she pressed the button and shot three rounds at the target. The first one was slightly off, but the other two were more dead center, and she looks up from the aim with a wide grin.] Very good taste.

[As far as Cable was concerned, there was no such thing as too many ways to defend yourself in a fight. It helped for Elizabeth that knives wouldn't be nearly as bulky as multiple guns would.]

Yeah, I get that sometimes. You're welcome.

[She once more pressed the button, before taking aim. This time she unloaded the clip into the target, a wide smile on her face.] It resembles a rifle from home, but shoots like the more updated models here. That is wonderful.

[She empties and reloads the magazine, before looking at him, her expression now serious.] Tell me, what exactly do you want or hope to receive in exchange for such a weapon?

[There's a hint of wariness in her voice. Splendid as the rifle was, there were standards she would not cross, even in this new world.]

Nothing.

[Cable wasn't exactly the sort to require 'nothing' in return, but definitely not what Elizabeth seems to be thinking. More something else. It was always something else. She need not worry herself about that bit, however. A favor would be cashed in if necessary--and never more than what was needed.]

You're attractive, sure--but maybe try not to pull anything patting yourself on the back too hard. Just giving you something to help keep potential enemies on their toes.

[Attractive was a mildly better descriptor than 'tolerable', so she supposed she could tolerate it in return.] Keeping an enemy on their toes is a sort of hobby of mine, but I will never say 'no' to receiving such a gift.

[Even so, the relief on her face was evident as she set the blade in its sheath, before strapping the rifle as a whole onto her back.] I will find some way to return the favor.
