[The feed opens with Peter on his bed.
Not hungover, thank you.
But he looks a little rumpled, in that healthy way, a way that says he's actually gonna sleep early today.]
Ummm. So... This is weird. I, okay — here it goes.
Number one... Hey, hi, I'm — I'm 16-year-old Peter Parker. Not the puny one in the Iron Man mask anymore. But thanks a lot if you helped me out, back there; it means a lot. I was a little bit of a handful and all, but you guys were awesome babysitters? That's kind of embarrassing, but you know, that's just how a Parker rolls.
[Peter breathes out a sigh after a moment's hesitation, leaning back from the feed and tapping a pen on a notebook on his knee that is probably too full of science mumbo-jumbo and math notes — among other things. Liiiike bullet points on what to say for this message. He feels like he's got butterflies in his stomach, honestly. Which is stupid. But he's never been great at having an audience; you wouldn't catch him in drama with all those actor-types.
Okay, Pete. Just go down your list, you got this.]
Mr. Stark — Tony Stark, that is... and Sam Wilson, they've gone home. Captain America, too. A lot of people have: people from my world, some from worlds like it — and friends I got to make from wildly different places have left, too. And I just... wanna say, this place has been so good to me, you know? Sure, some really messed up stuff happened here and there, but. But it's been a place where I could think. And make new friends. And be way more open than I was back home.
I just know what I have to do now. It's been eating at me for a while, so... Decisions made. And all that.
I'm gonna take the next portal they can give me, and I'll be going home as soon as I get the word. [Some people know what that means. A lot of people don't, and he doesn't plan to tell them the grim reality behind it] There's a ton I have to do back home, responsibilities I gotta tend to and things I gotta be a part of, for better or worse. And it's not right for me to put it off. Like... how you avoid studying for the SATs until the night before? Yeah, it's super irresponsible.
... I don't know when it'll be exactly. I guess nobody does. Or else we wouldn't get pulled here or pushed away.
But yeah.
[He swallows.]
Anyway. I'd like to do as much as I can on my dumb to-do list thing, for this really weird and long vacation I've been on. I wanna hang out with all my friends who're still here and really just... have a lot of fun? Until I go back to my usual life. I hate goodbyes, so I'm not gonna think about saying them right now, but I just wanted everyone to know you've been so awesome, and I've learned so much, and I've had a blast.
... Mostly. Not including being hungover.
[He smiles a little more, warm and confident in his words.]
And, um, for certain people, I've got something else to tell them?
But I'll let you know in a more private feed.
Not hungover, thank you.

So instead of explaining, he simply stood, moved several books that were placed higher than the rest and pulled out a familiar case for him to watch. It was the same case that Alex had originally seen.]
Black tapes; Alex gave them that name. They're not the same as what I showed you when you were younger.
no subject
[He was the one who had picked them out after all, not her. He had all of them and he showed her the ones that would end up being connected and important. So, she's just going to say quickly:]
Most of them had some sort of demonic theme. [A beat:] Richard will say alleged demonic theme, because demons 'aren't real.' [Yeah, you can hear the quotes around those words, because Alex believes, and Richard says he doesn't.
She doesn't think that he doesn't anymore.]
And they had a good reason. There was this Cult involved with basically all of it. They're called 'The Order of the Ceneophes' and they've been obsessed with Richard's family for his entire life. They have ended up causing a lot of terrible things to happen, including the circumstances that drove Richard and Charlie apart and cost him those twenty years with her.
no subject
[Peter studies the offered case quietly, hesitant to get too ahead of himself.
This all does around crazy... but after everything from back home? Everything from here?
Anything's possible.]
... I'm sorry about that. About your daughter. What'd... they do? And why were they all about your family?
no subject
Demons aern't real, and it's best to start at the beginning.
[He sets his cup down again, offering a pointed look to Alex that converts how ... frustrating, her explanation had been.]
My father was an antiquities dealer who specialized in items with historical ties to the occult and mythology. Apparently, he also worked with the man who happens to be the leader of the cult that Alex mentioned. This man seems to think I'm, important, somehow. I'm not.
As for what they did that caused the rift between Charlie and I,
[He couldn't help the frown that started to grow on his face as he leaned forward onto his knees with his mug in hand, eyes locked on the dark brown contents that steamed inside.
He should have put bourbon in the cup instead of tea.]
Thomas Warren, the leader of that cult, kidnapped my wife and left the world to think I'd killed her and hidden the body. Charlie never forgave me for not being able to find her.
no subject
[Yeah, Alex is going to remind him of that, because he can deny it all he wants to, but it was still there. Skye did all the tech stuff that proved it.
But there was other things that was important; and she wished that she had thought of bourbon too. Because honestly if this didn't devolve into a fight when they were done, Alex was definitely breaking out that bottle. Both of them probably were.]
His wife was an agent for a shadow organization that was tasked with watching Richard, and getting close to him. She eventually fell for him, which was why they kidnapped her. However, after she escaped she remained out of contact with both of them until the show brought out the fact that she was still alive and in hiding. [Alex's voice is a sigh and she's just gonna get up and grab the scotch and two glasses, coming back and handing Richard the bottle.]
This was easier in thirty episodes somehow.
no subject
Sorry, was he supposed to respond to that? He just stares for a long moment.
Like, his world is crazy, and he'd probably make them gawk a little, too.
But... Jesus Horatio Christ, as his uncle'd say.]
no subject
Instead, he turns to Alex.]
You're dramatizing things. Don't.
[She wasn't, not by much, but it was important to him to compartmentalize and control the flow of information.]
Thomas Warren taking Coralee, the fact that I couldn't find her; that was what caused Charlie to distance herself from me.
Most other things that Alex will tell you is conjecture and speculation. She has a flair for the dramatic, and calling cult leaders sexy.
[The last part is said with a slight smirk from behind his mug before he drinks from it.]
no subject
[Alex keeps her voice calm even if there is a bit of a scowl there even as there are audible quotations around his own words, because she knows he knows that she isn't. And of course that he's trying to control the narrative.
Again.
But given that it's Peter she's actually holding her tongue until the two of them are alone, because honestly oh my god. Well for the most part. Until that last bit and then she can't help it.]
Oh my god. I didn't know he was a cult leader at the time. He was just a random dude who sat down at our table and stole your coffee to check your DNA. And threaten me vaguely. You're the one who wanted me to call him for a meeting even after Coralee specifically said not to do it.
[She is not the only one who makes questionable choices here either.]
no subject
He speaks up slowly, carefully, the moment there's a lull:]
... So... why did your wife and this guy think you were important?
Did they ever say?
no subject
The question was easy, and he knew it was coming already. Who wouldn't ask 'why' in the face of this insane stupidity.]
They seem to think there's something in my family's DNA that they want. Also, Thomas Warren is a delusional megalomaniac; it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what's going through their minds.
no subject
Peter's met her, that Alex not saying anything is like a downright miracle under any circumstances. Right now, it says a lot.
Because of course they know. But she's also not saying what it is.]
no subject
Is that... all there is to that, or...?
[Peter's not the best when it comes to common sense, sure — but he's not totally hopeless here. Alex's colorful change of expressions definitely are the root cause of his Parker senses tingling.]
no subject
[He lets out a sigh because of course, Alex would make that face and of course Peter would ask, and of COURSE she would lead things to where he didn't want them to go. Which, she would get yelled at for later.]
It's believed that Thomas Warren thinks that I'm some sort of key that will open a door to usher in the Apocalypse. The entire idea of which is insane and particularly laughable.
no subject
In the end, it doesn't matter if it's true or not. Any of it. The only thing that matters is that Warren believes it, and he's willing to do anything he can to get us there.
[Yes, us, because there's no way in hell he's ever leaving her behind. They may be about to have a fight, and Richard may not be choosing Brazil, but she's going to deal with this with him. She's at the centre of this too, even if Simon's wrong.]
And that we're going to figure it out and stop him. [And the words are just firm and determined, Alex at her most Alex-like honestly. Stupid ideas and all.]
no subject
[He purses his lips, brow furrowed, unsure if he should say it, but...]
It's just... One's gonna happen in my world. It could happen in yours, too, couldn't it?
Maybe you should take it pretty seriously, that it's a real deal kind of thing.
no subject
[There's some bite to his words. Bitter annoyance at the fact that Alex had brought this about, that she's promised that she wasn't going to bring this up and that Peter actually seemed to believe that he was the sort of person who would do something like this. It was frustrating and disappointing and, yes, a bit enraging.]
no subject
[She reminded him quickly. But also she knew that if she'd die if he didn't do it, then he might. Alex would have, and she knew that. They both did. And she knew how angry he was going to be too. But she's not going to lie to Peter, and he straight out asked them.
Alex then looked to Peter and gave him a small smile.]
But we're going to stop Warren, whatever he's doing. Whatever he wants to do. It's not going to happen.
no subject
[He bites his lip, gesturing between the two of them.]
Maybe... you guys have a Thanos that you need to take down, in your own way. Maybe Warren's it.
no subject
I'd prefer that we stick to the facts and now debate on the plausibility of this whole thing.
no subject
[Alex just lets that thought drop off with a little sigh, because honestly, she doesn't even want to think about Tall Pauls and the like right now. But she believes and he doesn't, and that's not likely to change even if the two of them were in Geneva facing whatever it was.]
no subject
... You guys have a lot going on back home.
[The pot calling the kettle black, basically.]
no subject
[It was important to keep things in perspective. He and Alex weren't the only ones who had things going all over back home.]
We aren't particularly special.
no subject
It's weird. It seems like everyone here does have something going on back home for the most part. We're all... protagonists in our own stories, I guess. Which makes sense.
no subject
[He says it in a totally sappy, dumb way, so he'll just move along-]
... I dunno if I feel like a protagonist...
More like a confused side character fumbling through the script. You know?
no subject
[Comforting Peter was far easier than explaining his life to the boy, he was happy that the conversation had taken a turn, even if it was a turn that wasn't exactly pleasant.]
