[ The feed opens up to Loki, dressed in a white shirt and black tie and slacks. He seems to be in a facility somewhere in Riverview, one that might not be familiar to most. He taps a pencil on a clipboard, his bid to look professional. Even his hair is combed back, a few strands tied together with a silver clasp. ]

Greetings. I work at the Gramarye Research Facility for Magic and I was hoping to get some examples of magic taken place in Riverview. Any will do, even ones where your own magic has clashed with the rules of this reality. If you could make it short and precise, I would be most . . . grateful.

[ He nods. ]

I imagine the varied abilities and backgrounds people hail from would make our identities obsolete. Why do you think I was not so bothered to share my name?

No, you're right. Doesn't mean there isn't prudence in keeping some things closer than others. Even if it might just be a matter of time.

Is it prudence?

[ Why would an immortal man need to hide? Loki had a valid reason for his. He didn't want the Avengers dogging his every step. ]

Or fear?

Depends on whichever you categorize self-preservation. Not everyone looks at an ageless guy and goes, that's cool. Some of them think: now how does that work?

[ It makes sense, unfortunately. ]

Not many people would make that connection though. It depends on how long you linger in one place.

Thirty years or so is about the reasonable limit, little more if you get some heavy makeup involved.

[ This isn't speculation, it's just fact. ]

Getting harder with tech growing as fast as it is, too.

I would not know. It has been years since I have resided with mortals.

Lucky. [ Beat. ] Lucky Loki.

[ Snrk. Okay but seriously. ]

No such convenience for me.

[ Loki rolls his eyes at the banal wordplay. ]

Immortality is a convenience in its own right.

Mm... Agree and disagree? When you're the only one, you can't really do a whole lot with it unless you spent like a thousand years putting something into place.

Okay, maybe only a hundred. Ten. Point being, it's convenient to an extent. But what do you do with it?

[ Read: he's bored. Having no magic or real reason to do anything grand with all this time is kind of an ambition-killer. ]

[ Loki can't fathom it. Mostly because he's old himself and had never had trouble filling up the time. But time passes differently for Gods. They do not live out the span of a heartbeat. Loki fears no death either. It is a certain kind of peace he would not fight against.

So his reply takes time. ]

What any man would do with it, I assume. Do good or evil. Doing nothing seems like a waste.

[ Cain can only guess at the cultures being entirely different, when you have people used to it or a world unknowing someone like that can exist. ]

It does, doesn't it? Not to just turn it around on you, but humor me. First time talking to another immortal here. What do you do with so much time?

Take over the universe.

[ He's joking. Maybe. Probably. ]

Just like you do every night?

[ Look, he can't pass up the opportunity. Whether Loki gets it or not is irrelevant. ]

[ Sadly, it's a miss. ]

It is a work in progress.

I'll admit, it sounds like a lot of fun. I'd probably have to downscale to just taking over the Earth.

[ Fun, but also. you know. not happening. ]

Or find something else. That planet is constantly in some kind of turmoil. A long game to make a dynamic change, worthwhile for history to sing for, not ambitious enough?

Oh, like world peace or ending hunger.

[ There's a thought. Maybe just a pipe dream but what the hell. ]

I mean, I've already made history so let's go with something less... bombastic.

Is the world starving?

[ What even is World Hunger?? ]

Quite a lot of it is, actually. Lots of food where it goes to waste and very little where it could be put to good use.

[ Huh. Loki makes a pointed sigh. ]

Midgard has certainly lost its former glory.

We had glory in the first place? When was the last time you stopped by?

[ It's wry, but Cain does get the point. It's the best time in the world and that bright light only casts deeper, darker shadows on all the evils. Maybe once he and Abel figure out how to stop people from continuing to break death and all that, he'll get some time to focus on all the more mundane issues. ]
