My mistake. Well, as far as I know, droids have been around for thousands of years. They've always been around to assist humans in different tasks. They're grouped in different classes based on their skills — a droid made for service functions is different than a droid made for military functions, things like that. I don't know if that answered your question or not.

Seems like humans in your world thrived. Mine are basically extinct. Similarly enough, the letter in our names dictate our main role. We're not nearly as limited by them as you make your droids sound though.
