[ max isn’t big on typing — the device feels fragile and small in his hands and hitting the right places is an exercise in frustration, really — but the voice and video functions are similar enough to some of the things that can be achieved by furycrafting that they seem almost familiar. so here he is on the network, still in full uniform, looking very much like a roman soldier straight out of a history book, for those who have romans in their history books. (to those who know clark kent, he might also look like a younger version of clark pretending to be a roman.) ]

Can’t say I really understand what furycrafting’s gotten me here and I do have to get back, but while I’m here —

[ his posture and expression might have been professional until now, fit for a legionare, but here he grins, something rakish and wide. ] Where’s the nearest bar? Any recommendations for food or drink?

[ a moment later, he sobers again. in more quiet tones, he adds: ] Calderon, if you’re here as well, come find me.

[ the look he gets in return is not just half-confused but entirely so. ]

I mean, you're not an actual ancient Roman, right? That getup's a recreation?

[ Cisco had been pretty sure that was what was going on when he started this but now he's hesitating. People here are from different points in history, but, is it possible? No, that would be WAY too weird... ]

[ max was definitely not present in that particular history lesson at the academy. but - ] Crows, no. It's not a costume.

So you're, like, a soldier?

[ This place just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser; Cisco knows he owes this guy an explanation so he does his best: ]

Rome was an empire. Thousands of years in the past, in my world. They conquered a lot of places, built a lot of roads, and um. Statues. [ Ancient history was never exactly Cisco's thing in school; most of his knowledge about Rome comes from video games. ] They had getups a lot like yours, that's why I asked.

I'm a legionare. [ that's a yes. max ran away to join the legion as soon as he was old enough to legally do so and it has been more of a home and a family to him than his own ever were. ]

I haven't heard of this place.

You should look it up if you're ever near the library. Probably get a kick out of the illustrations if nothing else.

[ And the least he can do now is give a recommendation, like this guy was asking for. ]

If you've never had a burger I highly recommend trying one. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
