[...He'd picked his username when they pulled him here because superheroes and people on the internet have one thing in common: secret identities. He'd also kind of assumed there wouldn't be any actual Avengers here. So he'd given them his wiki-editing handle, and he maybe regrets it a lot now, but at least he can make this post without his real name attached, or he probably wouldn't make it at all.]
Just a question, but if you knew someone here could tell you about your future... would you ask them about it? Would you want to know, or not? Would it make a difference if they seemed pretty uncomfortable about it?
[He's not sure he does want to know, honestly. But at the same time, Billy is being just a little weird about it, and maybe knowing would be better, in case he lets it slip later anyway. He just can't decide.]

honestly, buddy, i know exactly what you're saying. i've been right where you are.
hopefully not!
[ Just because his friend isn't dead in the future doesn't mean things don't get really really shitty, but Cisco doesn't know a polite way to phrase that. ]

my best friend was here for a bit, but then she got sent home i guess
also there's someone i haven't met yet, so that was definitely fun, a random stranger hugging you on the street and knowing all this stuff about you.
i figure it happens to a lot of people, here. just a consequence of the way they do things with the recruitment or whatever.

It is pretty awkward. Especially when you don't even know how they know you, or what they know, or anything about them at all.

[ After months back home of both his best friends abandoning him while they grieved, Cisco's gotten surprisingly used to missing them. It sucks, sure, but he's accepted it. ]
some do go back. i think it depends on people's circumstances. we're not, like, prisoners here. not exactly.
yyyyyep. so that's how it is, with you and the person from your future who's here?

[He'd hate to be here alone, even if he'd rather know Billy was safe at home. Safer. Maybe.]
No, not exactly. I know exactly how I met the person in my post, even if I don't know everything after that. But there's other people here, too.

that makes sense. i suppose you can't MAKE any of them tell you the truth, but you can at least say that if they're worried about the timeline it doesn't seem to matter, and if they're worried about your feelings that your imagination is just gonna make up horrible possibilities to fill in the gap. it's that simple.

[ It's a slim chance, but Cisco's only met one guy named Billy since he arrived, and it's not actually the most common name around, so maybe... ]
i know it isn't that simple
stuff never really is.

On the small chance he won't see this, don't tell him I let that slip?
Even the stuff that seems easy always ends up coming with a price, right?

we're not tight or anything i've just met him a couple times.
seems like a great dude.
truth.
