[He's already spent a little bit of time scrolling through a few of the posts on the network, now that he's gotten to his bed in the communal housing. If he thought that any point of his life up to now had been weird well... This was far and away the weirdest thing that had happened to him. It's obvious that there a lot of other new arrivals asking the same kind of questions, but it doesn't normally hurt to ask things. After a couple moments of poking around, he finally gets a video recording going.]

So uh. I know a lot of people are asking if anyone has seen their friends around, but I know this idiot wouldn't bother trying to use this thing. If anyone has seen a kind of scrawny looking guy with white hair, and probably some bandages around his neck, let me know.

Well I guess I'll uh. Maybe go look around in the meantime. If I'm going to be here for an unknown about of time, I might as well get familiar with the area.

You might want to stick to the settlement proper, then. Beyond the fence you run the very real risk of losing a good chunk of it if you aren't prepared. It's plenty good fun if you are, though.

They answered a surprising amount of my questions. I honestly hadn't expected any kind of answers. Not that I really believe the ones they gave...

[ That sort of thing isn't something that really crossed her mind, but then, she'd been glad to have the crisis that was her standing boredom resolved and that's held well enough. 'Trapped' isn't the feeling she's gotten in the slightest. ]

I came here from a city that was one giant lie. I don't have any reason to believe that this place is what it claims to be.

May I ask how it was a lie?

[ She's honestly not entirely sure how a settlement of any kind could be a lie, really, unless a settlement was advertised as one thing and turned out to be something entirely different, like a dungeon or something like that. Maybe that's what he means? ]

Well, apparently, it wasn't actually a city at all. It was one giant specimen farm for a bunch of insane scientists.

By 'specimen,' do you mean people?

[ She's blinking at the thought and if she looks a little uncertain, well, that's because she is. Science isn't exactly the height of knowledge with magic being far more prevalent in her reality, but it's been explained to her before. She just isn't all that certain about what she's hearing exactly. A city as a specimen farm...? ]

And... why?

I do mean people. And I wish I knew why. I've been trying to figure out what the hell was going on in the city for years, but I had no idea how crazy it all was.

I think you may find better fortune here. I would impress upon you further, but I am also of the opinion that you may be the sort of man who would rather decide that sort of thing for himself, hm?
