Voice; @the.boneless Can't hurt feelings when there's none there
[It's the early morning, so early some might still consider it to technically be part of the night. Deal with it, people, he cares nothing about your sleeping schedules. The only reason he's up this early is his left leg is aching and won't stop. Ah, the thrills of having a disease that create brittle bones easily. So he's bored and this is what he's left to do: bug all of you until he can get back to sleep.]
Serious question time. What does a conscience feel like? In detail, if you don't mind. Or, if you're like me and don't have one, what does empathy feel like?
[This has been on his mind as of late. Blame talks with guilt-ridden ex-assassins he's had. Ivar's been thinking a lot about it. He can fake the latter to some degree, but the former has never much bothered him, which does explain why killing comes so easily to him.]

[It was a wonder these two hadn't teamed up to cause an ungodly amount of destruction in the city yet.]

I think there was a time when I had a conscience. I didn't much like it.
[ He'd be totally game for some destruction. ]

What happened? Did you just decide it was an inconvenience and decide to get rid of it?
[Ivar hadn't quite grasped yet what precisely made up a conscience and how it was supposed to work.]

[ Seems totally logical. ]

So it is something you can learn to discard as you get older?
[That doesn't quite match up with what he's been told by others, but then, what does Ivar know about something he's never had?]

[ He knows that it's probably somewhere deep in the back of his mind, but long gone thanks to some of the memory loss he's had. And the influences in his life. ]

Probably for the best. As far as I've been able to find out, it seems to be more of an annoyance than a true help to anyone.
[At least that's the way it seemed to Ivar's skewed perspective. People were better off just doing what they wanted rather than some voice in their head.]

[ Okay. So. Giovanni made life difficult for him. But doing good wasn't good for Heine, he'd argue. ]

[He hadn't been the only one who watched the entire process of blood-eagling without flinching. His brothers might have had something resembling consciences, but nothing like the modern day interpretation of the concept.

[ at least for real ]
