🛍️🎓 video; @b.potts

[ Bill is used to smart phones, but she's not used to this sort of a network thing where people just go online to chat and ask questions about things... But, she's new here, and she's trying to fit in. Plus she has some questions that she definitely can't ask the Doctor about.

When the video starts, Bill's dressed in a drab dark outfit with her hair pulled back in a braided bun. Very dystopia. She does a little wave, then launches into her question. ]

Hi. I guess. My name's Bill, just arrived. Except the portal thing didn't exactly let me pack, so all I have to wear is... well, not exactly my style. Anyone know where's good to shop around here? Someplace not too expensive; I'm a university student now, I've got to keep a budget.

OH! [ She holds up a finger. ] If you were going to university, and could study anything you want, anything at all... What would you study? I'm at a bit of a loss, myself. Never actually done this officially before.

[ She pauses to think if she has anything else to add, but no. That's it. ]

Anyway, yeah. If you could help me out, that'd be brilliant. Cheers!

[ Cisco takes a moment to consider Bill's options; when a possibility occurs to him, it makes him smile softly and feel a little pang of homesickness. ]

Well, maybe journalism? I feel like that would cover a whole lot - you could write stories about human behavior, stories about traveling, stories about traveling to strange far-off places and observing the human behavior there. Though I guess that's kind of anthropology-ish so you could always do a minor in that.

[ Her position is an interesting one to consider: with the sciences, at least in school, there was a pretty predetermined path of courses that he'd had to take with only a very small amount of room to specialize or look for things that interested him specifically. ]

I bet you'd be great at it. One of my best friends back home is a journalist, I wish the inter-dimensional whatevers would align so I could hook you up with her number, but unfortunately...

[ He trails off, shrugging. What can you do? Unless Iris shows up here, he has no way of contacting her. Which is too bad, because he thinks she would take Bill under her wing in about two seconds flat. ]

It's worth giving it a try, anyway. And you can take some classes in a bunch of different subjects and decide along the way. Most of the people I knew in college didn't have any clue what they were going to major in for the first year or two.

I've been trying to build communication devices that can get through to other universes since about day one, but no luck so far.

[ Cisco sounds optimistic, though, in spite of his failures up until this point. If the portals could bring through people from other universes, getting a cell phone signal through should be possible, in theory. He just has to science the shit out of it. ]

Oh? What class is that?

This is my first one, personally. I met a guy who said he was from a parallel universe a few days before I ended up here, but I've never actually gone to one.

[ He knows, however, that he will someday. That apparently, his powers let him open up breaches between worlds and sometime in the future he'll be good enough to just pop in and ask Kara to show up when they need some extra muscle dealing with an alien invasion.

Knowing about his future is weird. ]

Wait. Hold up hold up. Time Travel 101? Is that like... is there for real a college class teaching people how to time travel?!

[ That sounds like the biggest recipe for disaster that Cisco has ever heard, and he's heard some good ones. ]

[ Oh, well, that's a little less awful than Cisco had been imagining. More comparable to a class on 'what to do if you find yourself in a building on fire' rather than a class on how to commit arson. And if he's going to be doing theoretical lectures on the nature of time travel... ]

Does your friend have a policy on people sitting in on the class who aren't technically students? 'Cause... that definitely sounds relevant to some of my interests. Like, a lot.
