[ the feed opens up with a little bit of jostling until it's settled on a nearby bedstand. then, there's a flash of red cloth before al settles down on the floor in front of it. in his white-gloved hands is a broken lamp. he sets it on the floor in front of him. ]

Hello! [ he's rather cheerful. ] I'm Alphonse Elric. Some of you may have already met my brother, Ed. We're alchemists and though we're working in the Perimeter Guard, I also wanted to let people know that we're here to help. If you have something broken, we can probably fix it.

[ he gestures at the broken lamp with a grin and then slaps his palms together. they're then placed above the lamp as a bright, blue light encompasses it. there's a spark of energy and soon the broken pieces are molding back together. ]

See? Just like new.

[ switching it on, the light flickers for a second and then begins to glow steadily. ]

So again, if you need something fixed, Brother and I are on floor 6. Have a nice day!

I definitely want to know how to do that.

[Her lips slip into an easy grin.]

I can definitely try to show you how to do Alchemy, but not everyone has the skill. Still, it would be fun to try!

[She saluted with a flick of her wrist.]

I don't see why I can't figure it out.

[ the name prompts a small chuckle as he nods. ]

It's nice to meet you, Miss Yuffie! Feel free to come by, and we'll see what we can do.

[She shifts on the screen like she's about to run off and then pauses and pulls her attention back to the boy.]

Where am I going again?

Oh! [ a small giggle. ] I'm on floor six!

I'm literally four levels on top of you.

Hm... well, Brother and another person are having a presentation soon. We'll be talking about things Brother has found out about this place so far. There'll be snacks if you want to come! And then I could show you.

[Yuffie is in the habit of carrying everything she owns with her. Her life has taken her from place to place so frequently that it's just become a natural thing for her to do. So with a wave of her hand and a flick of her wrist she turns off the phone and heads out immediately.

No time like the present to ninja food.

She has met Al's brother so when she arrives she beelines towards him, a bright smile spreading across her face.]

[ al is in the process of helping unload groceries into the fridge in preparation of his brother's party ( after their reunion, of course ) when he hears someone bound in. figuring it's an early arrival, he turns with a smile on his own lips and grins even bigger when he notes it's the pretty girl from his earlier feed. setting down the bag, he gives a wave. ]

Hello, Miss Yuffie!

[Yuffie throws an arm around Al and leans forward to see what he's doing.]

Hiya! What cha up too? I can tell that you aren't started but I will totally help take some of these snacks off your hands. [Out of the kindness of her heart of course.]

[ the motion makes him sway a little as he tries to open a bag of chips. a flush rises to his cheeks and he laughs nervously. ]

Just getting things ready. You can have some chips if you'd like!

[Yuffie has no concept of personal space. She swiftly plucks the bag of chips from his palm and pops a few of the salty crunchy treats into her mouth.] I love all of the junk food here. [Dark purple eyes look over at him as she releases him and focuses on the chips.]

Want help setting up? I will probably sample all the food if you need a taste tester. For the record, these chips are very fresh but I'll keep checking.

[ unfazed by the purple eyes ( his own are like mercury and his brother's are gold ), he's more thrown off by how handsy she is. and how quick to grab the chips. ]

A-Ah! [ but it appears to be a lost cause, so he goes to the stack of groceries for another bag. ] That's very kind of you, Miss Yuffie, but Brother would want me to make sure there's enough for the meeting.

[Yuffie hadn't thought her offer would have gotten much traction though she looks crestfallen anyway.]

Nah, it's cool. What all are you having?

[She eats a little slower but she'll continue munching on the chips.]

Oh! Will we have time to check out that Alchemy stuff before your meeting?

Chips, fizzy drinks (I think they're called soda?), vegetables. Cheese and bread. Things like that.

[ at least he's glad he bought enough. ]

We might! We can start with something simple. Grab a pile of potato chips and set them on the table.

Sounds like a good spread.

[Maybe she should have eaten more at the Carnival? Oh well.

She grabs a pile of potato chips and then drops them lightly on the table before looking up at Al.] Like this? [She has no idea what they're doing.]

Mm! I hope so. Brother wants to get a lot of information we can use at this meeting, so hopefully people will come and take part.

And that's perfect. [ moving to the pile, he takes out a piece of chalk from his pockets and draws an array around the pile of chips. ]

This is a transmutation circle. One is always required for alchemy, no matter what kind of alchemy you do. What you need to do now is place your hands on the outside of the square and focus on the chips. Imagine them becoming a whole potato. If you have the ability to do alchemy, it should work.

[Yuffie nods thoughtfully before turning to look more closely at the potato chips and the circle. She hasn’t seen circles exactly like that but it makes her think a little bit of what she’s seen riffling through some of Hojo’s stuff. A shiver twists uncomfortably down her spine before she pushes the eerie feeling away.

Her fingers gently touch the circle and Yuffie swears she can feel something. Like a crackle of lightening? She isn’t sure. She tries to focus on the potato chips but it’s really hard to imagine something so delicious as a potato chip becoming something as boring as a potato.

Nothing happens.

Yuffie frowns and in a bit of a huff ice extends from her fingertips freezing the potato chips and over half of the circle in watery crystal.] Stupid Potato. [She might sound a little bit upset.]

[ seeing the potato chips freeze over, al's eyes widen. granted, it's not alchemy, but it's surprising and amazing nonetheless. ]

That was still really neat, Miss Yuffie!

[Yuffie blinks, her anger forgotten in the wake of Al's surprise.]

Oh, that? That's my Materia.

[She pulls at the bracelet around her wrist and then lifts up a little red glowing sphere for Al to see.] Only some people can use 'em. Figured if I can do this I might be able to do Alchemy.

[Maybe she needs more practice.]

[ making a low noise of interest as he peers at the gem, he nearly frowns. it reminds him of incomplete philosopher's stone pieces, but that surely can't be what she's using. she's from a different world, after all. ]

Is it magic? Because magic is different from alchemy.

It's like magic. I guess.

[It depends what he means by magic. Technically, there are two types of magic on Gaia.] This is a crystal that's grown and it's refined to have these powers attached to them.

I don't know how they do it. If you mean magic magic... like what the Ancients did? That's been lost. [Ever since... Yuffie pushes the thought away.] They were able to heal. Leviathan tells us that our descents had been able to but I'm not so sure.
