I know this is kind of a sensitive topic, but hopefully it's not too much to ask.

so... 2015. what's that like?

[It's two years after the Infection broke out, supposedly. But he doesn't seem like the sort of wary person who's survived the apocalypse. If anything, he's-- weirdly nice.]

I was thinking classic speeding car chase with plenty of explosions, like in the action movies. You know?

Hard to say without anything to compare it to. Less eclectic than this place. I came from the US, and it wasn't a lot different than it's been for a long time. Non-flying cars. Tall buildings. The internet. Television. Way too many ads everywhere.

[She remembers the ads. Felt like there was one plastered on every building, every bench, around every damn corner. Didn't people get tired of looking at them? Or were they just so used to it it felt normal to them?]

well it sounds pretty much like the future. tall buildings, tv. ads. i'm from the states too. boston.

[Eddie is definitely tired of ads, but he's also pretty used to them. He figures most people feel that way, but being tired of them is why he mentioned them.]

So it's not too much different then. That's kind of a relief, I guess.

yea ive been thru missouri. nice place. i spent some time in st louis. you know that big archhway?? mega cool.

[She and Joel cut up and across Missouri, through Kansas to Colorado and Utah. It was a long damn trip, but by that point Joel was a bit more talkative about... everything, and didn't mind explaining some of the history about what was still standing. The Gateway Arch was broken at that time when the city was firebombed, but the two spires on either side stood up curved like rib bones, and they found some old postcards in a gas station of how it used to look. She'd have liked to see it whole.]

Oh yeah! I've been there a few times, when I was younger. The place I grew up in was in Kansas, though. Across the river, a city called Keystone.

[That was a less enjoyable bit of memory than his time in Central City, though he can't really say that things ended very pleasantly in Central City either.]

It's never too early to make a ruby slippers joke. Bonus points if you make one I've never heard before.

i'll get back to u on that one that's a pretty tall order to hit, u know? like how am i to know what's en vogue or whatever back in your day. maybe u've already heard all the ones i know and then i'd just be an unfunny disaster. nobody wants that.
