[Steve is commandeering the floor's kitchen for the moment. With the festival going on, he gets more time to himself, but there's still the situation to consider. They are all new people getting used to Quarantine. So Steve sets up with his device, sending out a message while he takes a break from the activity.]

Floor five, clean up your messes. Loki, that means you.

[Because that's easier to start with than anything else he can think of.]

If we haven't met yet, my name is Steve Rogers. I'm working with the Perimeter Guard here in Search and Rescue. If you have any problems, you can contact me directly. It doesn't have to be an emergency situation. We're all adjusting here, so if you need anything, feel free to come up or give me a call.

I typically go for a run in the morning and train in the evening. Just in case anyone's interested in joining me. Thinking about taking a better look at what's surrounding us, too.

Pretty early.

[The answer is honest, but still friendly. Steve is an early riser. He does, however, realize that there are limits to the hours that everyone else can tolerate a morning jog. Especially a teenager.]

Still, if you're interested in coming, I could make it seven-thirty.

[Oh god there's two of them, why is he getting himself into this?]

Yeah, you would be a morning person in every universe, wouldn't you? Just run a marathon for a warm-up or something.

[For Sam's part, he's perfectly happy waking up at a nice, leisurely time now that he's out of the military. There are times when he even sleeps in as late as nine. Can you imagine that, Steve?]

Then we'll be sweet as hell, my man! If we run into anything nasty I'm good with the wizardly shit, but I'm not built to take hits.

[So that's Steve's job; there's no malice or anything in his assessment of things, it's just how he's used to fights working. Taako can't afford to get hit without risking dying, but tanks can handle a lot more damage before going down.]

[Fatima smiles as the feed comes on. This is a girl who takes pains when it comes to her appearance. She has a carefully-styled look of nonchalance. And too much makeup, as if she were trying to disguise her youth. But she's sitting with a stuffed unicorn, which looks out-of-place with the rest of her world-weary demeanor.]

I love running. And I'd like to check out some of the local flora outside. You can count me in.

[She glances down at the unicorn.]

Him too. I think he misses you.

Gotta get an early start if you want to make any headway.

[There's definitely a teasing note in Steve's voice this time. Sorry, Sam, but he finds the frustration entertaining. Now that he knows what the other Steve has apparently done, it just seems appropriate to keep up that tradition.]

Don't worry, I won't make you warm up with me.

[Yep. He's chuckling.]

Well, you'll want to be able to defend yourself in case something happens and you get cornered. But magic would be useful.

[Steve does think that he'd end up being Taako's guard if they were to venture out to explore the wilderness, but he's always a strong believer in self-defense. Magic is good, but it can't replace everything.]

Well yeah, but I prefer to do it from a distance.

[This is a lot of talk for someone who often ends up in the middle of the fight anyway, but he's still used to things working certain ways even if he doesn't always follow the rules.

And shit like "the monster always gets a turn" makes tanks necessary.]

I'll let you be the early bird that gets all the worms.

[ Get it???? ]

Although I guess fish would be more accurate, in your case.

You mean jog with the Captain America? There's no way I'd miss it.

[Even if he's pretty sure he's going to get his ass kicked, as far as jogging goes, oops.]

[That's more recognition than he really deserves at the moment.]

Mm, I'm sure he'll come along too.

[Despite that answer, Steve does look pleased.]

We'd be glad to have you.

How much of a distance?

[Steve just has to ask. The casual way his new acquaintance talks about fights makes him wonder about his abilities. What sort of skills does this person have that allow him to be confident about exploring dangerous terrain, but still sound like he's intent on avoiding the threats themselves. He also takes in Taako's appearance, which doesn't really do much to clear up his questions.]

If you want me to, I can always take it slow.

[He says that mildly, like it's in consideration for Sam's pride. Steve does think that Sam will be just fine regardless, but he has to tease.]

Fish, huh?

[Steve looks a little surprised when the woman that responds says she wants to explore beyond the fence. She seems more put together, not the type that he expects to run into danger without question. But he knows enough magic users and mutants to know that appearances can be misleading. He doesn't question that right away.]

He does? [The stuffed unicorn and apparent familiarity throw him off more than her casual approach to danger.]

I don't think we've met.

[She blinks in few times. Fatima isn't used to being forgotten. She does everything she can to make a splash, after all. This makeup and these accessories don't just...happen.]

Sure we did. At the fair.

You won him for me at that bottle game...

[Her mask is slipping. She snaps it back into place, trying to look aloof and blase.

But seriously...he forgot her already?]

[He takes a second to kind of count off on his fingers, as if he's working it out.]

Ideally, more than like twenty feet, less than a hundred.

[Out of the range of melee attacks is what he's going for.

But after a brief moment of hesitation, Taako figures out the private setting on the device, so he can say more.]

This is gonna sound crazy as hell, but I'm not fucking with you. There was a whole thing with some liches and my life force, so I don't got a whole lot to spare.

[It's noticeable even in small ways, outside of fights.]

[Sam's not even going to rise to the bait there. Instead, he just explains:]

Bald eagles don't eat worms, Steve. They eat fish.

[Like it isn't obvious.]

Or smaller birds.

[You know, just throwing that out there.]

Does that mean you'll be up and ready?

I believe you.

[Steve's response is, as usual, straightforward and sincere. He does question why someone like Taako seems to give him mixed answers on his willingness to explore, but with that explanation, Steve is satisfied.]

If you want to come, you can. But it is dangerous, you know that. There are risks.

[And even though he says that, Steve believes in his new friend. After all, he's inviting him along.]

For sure, for sure. Nothing wrong with a little risk, I'm just saying, you know, I'm not gonna throw myself in front of an arrow for ya.

[Can the monsters in the forest use arrows? Probably not, but the point stands.]

Like, usually Mags takes most of the hits 'cause he can handle it! But he's obviously not here, or I'd be heading out with him instead of you.

[He wants to explore, he just wants there to be someone who's willing to handle the melee side of things if it comes down to a fight.]

Most birds are smaller than a bald eagle. They prefer the slow and stupid ones, 'cause falcons are too fast for them.

[So there.]

Yeah, I'll be there.

[He frowns, searching her words for something that makes sense. The confusion clearly showing in his expression as he looks at her and tries to place her face. He would know if they'd met.]

Wait. What was I wearing?

[He has some suspicions now.]

Um...a plain tee shirt? And jeans, I think?

[Not exactly Paris runway material. She'd mostly just been impressed with the muscles upon muscles.

And apparently had failed to impress, well, anything.]

Don't worry about that. If we have to avoid any arrows, I can handle myself.

[Steve sounds amused, and he raises his arm so that it's displayed on the phone's camera. He activates his energy shield, showing the ringed white and red disk to Taako so the mage can see that he's a good tank. He probably doesn't even realize he's doing it.]

Mags? That's a friend of yours?

[Well, that's actually pretty close to true. But Steve by now has figured out his guess his right.]

Actually, there's another man named Steven Rogers here. I expect he's been making some rounds as well.

[Seriously? An evil twin gag? Fatima would be even more incredulous, if not for the fact that some Cainites in her world can do that shit.

She's definitely not sure what to make of all of this.]

Forgive me for the phrasing of this but...

What's the difference between you two, exactly?
