_{[ Despite being relatively quiet on the network, Karamatsu has been keeping up to date with what has been happening in Riverview. Well, what was important to him, anyway, and what was important to him was the fact there was going to be a masquerade this week. Going to bed every night and knowing there are people out there who don't have perfect fashion for this sort of thing was making him feel determined, and dare I even say.. proactive.

Unfortunately, when Karamatsu becomes inspired, it's usually pretty bad.
Today, he's dressed in this and seems awfully proud of it.

He strikes a pose, spreading the wings out to show off all of the colors with an exclamation of "bang!" which is nothing like the sound a bird should make (was he bird or just being extra??? we just don't know.) Then, he relaxes, cupping his chin with one hand. ]}

Heheh. It seems there's going to be a party on Saturday. If you want to look as perfect as me, I will be happy to help and tailor you an outfit if you do not have one. Please, no payment is necessary. Take it as kindness from my own heart, as I do not want anybody to have an insufficient costume for such an event.

_{[ There is the longest pause, his smile slowly fading and his eyebrows pulling together in both confusion and concern. Nobody ever clearly told him that Eichi was somebody who was so sick he was destined to die in the next few years. The next few years..!? That was so soon! But they just became friends!

So, he responds as if he didn't hear Reaper correctly because he doesn't want to believe it. ]}

[Wait, he gets it.]

I'm not saying I'm going to kill him, calm down.

_{[ There's a moment of relief, but then he jumps back to being concerned. Even if Reaper wasn't going to kill him, it still means that he's not going to live very long for some reason. Tsumugi mentioned being concerned about Eichi when he was in space and Karamatsu knew that Eichi was a fragile person but he didn't know it was this serious. ]}

... We have to rescue him! We have to believe in his spirit!
_{[ He doesn't even think that there is the chance Eichi can't be saved. Again, he's being optimistic. ]}

[This is a reaction he didn't expect at all. He gives Karamatsu a LOOK, his eyrbrows furrowing as his arms cross over his chest.]

He isn't in some sort of mortal peril, calm down.

He's sick. Didn't he tell you?

You ever wonder why he's always in the hospital? He's got a genetic issue, there isn't any 'rescuing' him.

A-Ah.. I do recall Tsumugi-san saying something about that.. but I thought.. he just had a terrible cold. He seems so strong.. I haven't even seen him sneeze once.

_{[ But then Reaper goes on, and Karamatsu sounds more panicked as he continues. ]}

No, no no.. we can heal him.. just like how he healed your face, can't we? I will travel endless roads to find a cure— or somebody to help him!

[He shouldn't be that surprised at how singular Karamatsu is about this sudden realisation that Eichi isn't as well off as he might make himself appear.

He raises an eyebrow at him... and shrugs, wide.]

He's been on numerous planets with us both here and on the Eluvio. Don't you think if there was a cure around, he'd have found it by now?

_{[ REAPER. IS. SO. PESSIMISTIC!!! Just like Ichimatsu.
Karamatsu makes another face cause he doesn't want to believe it, still. His voice quiets, angry at himself for displaying such an outrageous response. He's supposed to be chilled and relaxed, but he can't be. Not when somebody who is finally a friend of his, who seems to genuinely enjoy the time he spends with him, is terminally ill. ]}

... He can't die. He gave me numerous gifts.. ah, we actually have fun together. He's too talented to die.
_{[ He's living the dream that Karamatsu wishes he could get just a miniscule taste of. Eichi is an idol and Karamatsu idolizes him. ]}

[He should have saw this sort of reaction coming. Karamatsu's melancholic expression returning after a more sobering conversation with the wraithlike man, a determination that doesn't often show. But when it comes to this topic--it's one thing that Reaper can't empathise with.

Even if he's somewhat attached to the murder-chattering idol himself, he's never been someone who faced death with an attitude of defiance--Death is what he's become, Death is what comes for everybody--spending every day of your life dreading what comes for everybody, then you'll miss out on what's important.

It was a lesson he didn't get while he was alive.]

Everyone dies, Karamatsu.

I've told you this before. It doesn't matter if you're a good person, or a bad person. Death is something that comes for everyone. Some sooner than later. And saying things like someone is too young or too good to die...

That's just a level of denial I can't sympathise with you on.

Think about it, for just a minute.

He knows what's in for him.

... Does he seem to let it slow him down?

_{[ Karamatsu is quiet for awhile, having trouble looking at the feed for the longest time. His eyes trace something that he sees out his window where he is recording from. It's a selfish kind of denial— he doesn't want Eichi to pass because then he'll lose somebody that he considered a friend. Somebody who made him happy. It was very difficult for him to get out there and make friends. ]}

You're right. His body is weak, then, but his spirit is so strong. I want the best for him.

_{[ It's a bit inspirational. A lot of things about Eichi is to him and he's just a little too oblivious to acknowledge that. ]}

Ah.. what should we do..?

[He's not going to say it, but he agrees. For someone so weak in body, Eichi is someone who's got more spirit than most.
Likely due to the fact that he doesn't allow his weakness stop him from doing what he wants.

He could almost appreciate that kind of drive. If he wasn't a firm believer in not giving up your life for dreams.]

Because treating him differently would be an insult to the strength he's been showing despite his terminal illness.

Eichi is that type of person.

He's strange, and he says things that get him into far more trouble than what he's worth.

But he also realises his own mortality.

So making friends while he still clings to life isn't so strange.

It's really inspiring. Ah, I think I should be more kind to the people around me, like Eichi-kun does.
_{[So, he thinks for a moment, looking away and then putting on a dazzling face for Reaper.]}

So I shall start with you! What can I do to be kinder to you? What is it, Gabriel, that I can do for you to make things better? What is, say, something of yours that is a favorite? Or what is it that lifts your spirits.. where you are nearly soaring? Or something that simply makes you smile?

_{[Karamatsu, you're talking to death here. Did you honestly forget that?]}

[You can see the flat look that graces Reaper's face for once. Usually it'd just be an impassive stare from under the confines of his mask, but now... Karamatsu will be graced with that unimpressed stare when he calls him Gabriel.]

I'm sure I've told you not to call me that name over the network, Karamatsu.

My favourite thing is gun customization and leatherworking.

The thrill of the kill lifts my spirit.

The look of my enemy's life draining out of their face makes me smile.

_{[ um, well that's... okay, that's certainly something. It's obvious Karamatsu seems a bit jarred at the response, staring at the feed for awhile.

[He has no idea how that doesn't frighten Karamatsu off completely, but he'll chalk it up to the others' glaringly hard to pat down optimism and continue the conversation.]

You still got that thing? If it's not a good make, scrapping it down to rebuild it better would be easy enough.

As for clothesmaking, I don't have the proper tools here.

Heh. Of course.. why would I not keep a gift that somebody gave to me? Especially somebody who wanted to take such good care of me.
