Video (and optional Action)| UN: Ladybug

[ Here's an unfamiliar face to probably many. A girl in a red and black spotted leotard with matching mask is grinning into the video. From her surroundings, it looks like she's somewhere outside the city. ]

Hey everyone, Ladybug here. Got a question for you. I was out patrolling the area outside the city and came across some nasty creatures chasing after - [ She turns the feed around to show an injured Korok, sitting a short distance away with a bandage she had tied around its leg. ]

One of these little guys. I personally haven't ever seen one before, but I thought it'd be a good idea to ask around in case someone else has come across the - [ She's distracted by a growl from out of view of the camera, and she scowls. ]

Persistent things aren't you.. [ Mutter. She pulls her yoyo out and turns to prepare to go on the defense, though she tosses one last comment. ]

Gotta run - but if anyone's seen these guys around or knows anything about them, drop a message here, I'll get right back to you!

[ OOC: unless someone happens to be outside the perimeter as well and comes across them, that's a thing also. ]

[ Not entirely wise, no, but Ladybug never once considered teaming up with anyone else. It wasn't until she spoke to a guy a little earlier that the thought of joining up with the Perimeter Guard - at least in part - to be an option. For the most part she was holding her own, something in her hand spinning quickly enough to protect her from the projectile ..grunk that they kept spitting out at her.

She didn't know what to call it, beyond gross. Also not good, since the Koruk got hit with that once and it couldn't run away now. Still spinning her 'shield' in front of her, she skirted a quick glance up at the masked stranger, and then back to the east with a nod. ]

Sure, a little help would be lovely, join the party~! But watch out for that stuff they spit - it seems to be some kind of paralytic venom.

oh, whatever they need to keep safe.

armor. better comms equipment for when they're in the field. sonic stun grenades, tasers that'll work on your giant lizard monsters, that sort of thing.

[ Notably missing from the list is, of course, weapons of the more deadly variety. Cisco's had some trouble in that arena, in the past, so he's been steering well clear of making anything that could be easily used to seriously injure or kill. ]

[ She approves of the list. She has no need for it herself though, her Miraculous will generally create what she needs for the local enemy of the week. ]

Where do you get the parts for all that? Do you salvage yourself or do they go out for you?

[ It's an interesting question - not one that a lot of people ask. He gets a lot of why questions, and questions about what qualifies him to do all that. It's not often people are actually curious enough to ask about the how, and he's more than happy to answer. ]

so far it's been a mix of scavenging, a couple of folks letting me know when they find stuff or bringing it back to me, and also fabricating what i can in-house.

[ Not possible, for some of the components, but he's getting to the point where he can actually make more and more of it on his own, with raw materials. ]

[ Paralytic venom. Sheesh, how many monsters around here spit?

Nonetheless, Yuuto drops from the low ledge and hits the ground in one smooth motion, drawing out a long dagger from underneath his black coat. With practiced ease he twirls the weapon around red gloved fingers as he approaches Ladybug's side, in part because he is a bit of a showoff... ]

Thanks for the heads up. [ Here, he grips the hilt of the blade proper, staring down one of the creatures with fire in its eyes and bared teeth. ] How durable are they?

[ She'd be surprised by that, honestly. ]

Anything you need in particular? I can keep an eye out while I'm out here, either now or in future trips.

[ They're all rude, They all spit.

Ohboy, how did she get lucky enough to encounter ANOTHER show-offy masked person? ... it kind of made her miss Chat. Now THAT was a weird thought. ]

One or two hits can take them out, but they're quick and annoyingly dodgy. [ Ladybug answered, glancing back to one and snapping her wrist forward, the shield revealed to just be a yoyo, which swung forward to coil around the raptor's neck, only for it to quickly dodge to the size and snarl. ]

See what I mean?

Wait, for real? Are you serious?

[ Cisco is never one to pass up an offer like that: he has a few folks on the perimeter guard who keep their eyes out for him, but they have other duties that come first, obviously, and there is just so much STUFF in the abandoned sections of the city that he would never be able to discover all on his own. ]

Honestly, any machinery you find that looks advanced and even partly intact... if you come across anything promising you could always text a pic and I can tell you if it's worthwhile or not. I can pay you back. Somehow...

Yeah.

[ So the trick wasn't to strike first. He doesn't particularly care about killing them—they're basically wild animals, not intelligent beings—so if there was a way to ward them off, at the very least...

Yuuto breaks off from Ladybug's side, eyes focused on the raptor-like creatures before them, careful and guarded; for all the growling they seem to be doing, however, they don't appear super eager to go in wildly attacking. If nothing else, they have a basic sense of strategy. ]

Here's to hoping they don't have any understanding of the spoken word— [ Briefly, he flicks his eyes over toward her. ] But I'll grab their attention. Go smack 'em around when they're not looking at you.

[ They'll be harder to hit so long as they see it coming, after all. ]

Of course. I wouldn't have offered if I wasn't serious. [ Any machinery was pretty broad though - she'd just have to make sure to remember to text from her burner phone and not her real phone or THAT would be embarrassing. ]

Don't worry about paying me back, I don't expect anything in return.

[ She'd like to scare them off herself - killing was definitely not her style. But as long as the little Koruk couldn't move, they weren't willing to back off yet - and since before it was just Ladybug versus three of them, they had felt confident they could get around her. Now that there were two, on the other hand, .. not so much.

Ladybug glances at Yuuto when he moved away, nodding firmly to the plan. It was a solid plan - and funny enough, was usually the tactics she employed when she worked with Cat Noir. ]

All right, go for it. Stay sharp.

[ That said, she started spinning her yoyo string again, readying herself for an attack once Yuuto's gotten their attention. ]

i'm guessing you're some kinda superhero, back home?

[ Not hard to put the pieces together - a mask, a name that's quite possibly an alias, a compulsive need to help, a certain distrust of relying on groups... plus she'd said she had a partner. ]

Yeah, good guess. Not many of us around back home, that's why I was surprised when you said there were a lot here.

Well, there's a hell of a lot higher a density of them here than where I'm from, too.

[ Cisco has his own theories for why that is. Heroes know other heroes, and the portal has a statistical tendency to pull in people who have connections with those who are already here. There's also the fact that the people who come here tend to do so right as they are feeling lost or out of place in their own worlds - something that unfortunately happens to superheroes quite a lot, because of the dangers of what they do. And then, of course, perhaps the portal has some way of knowing who will be the most useful in rebuilding this place, and choosing accordingly. ]

how many is not many? four? five?

[ Sharp he certainly is—but also kind of reckless.

Evidenced by him closing the distance between himself and the monsters, Yuuto whistles at them, as if calling for a dog. ]

Alright, all eyes on me, fellas. That means you, too—!

[ As the third of the bunch still kept some of its focus on Ladybug, Yuuto swings a kick towards its head; as expected, it didn't land, but if the way one of the others hisses and snaps back with its maw, it manages to aggravate the group. Luckily, he's likewise quick enough to roll out of the way, flipping himself back up into a crouch in another swift motion. From here, he begins poking the hornet's nest, so to speak, harassing the creatures enough to anger and dodge when they snap back. If nothing else, it definitely keeps them from minding the presence of anyone else.

Though, he's also hoping Ladybug will make it quick. If she manages to knock one away, with them caught off guard, hopefully he can hit another right after. ]

[ She laughed a little at the question. ]

Try 'two'.

[ And fortunately only one supervillain (right now), but it still was a problem. ]

[ She knows reckless. She can be reckless herself. Hell, her own partner back home tended to be a little reckless. She doesn't tarry, fortunately, as the minute the third raptorlike creature turned away from her, she took advantage of the distraction, hooking her yoyo around the neck of the creature and yanking it backwards hard enough that it went flying onto a tree and hit the ground, stumbling to its feet only to run off in the opposite direction. The other two raptors were still being kept busy by Yuuto, but now they were moving to try to get him between the two of them - he can't watch them both at the same time! ]

two's not so bad. i remember when we only had two, too. they were in different cities,
tho.

sometimes one or two is all it takes, depending on the hero.

so. big question: you got superpowers?

[ He can't assume one way or another, after all. ]

[Yuffie shivers but decides it's better to ignore the sludge on her boots. It's time to focus on the baddy though she doesn't think that it'll be much longer until the fight is there. Her aim had been off thanks to her anger and her blade had missed a vital spot by an inch or two. She has to get it back since replacing the large shurekin would be almost impossible in this world.

She places her palm on her Materia and a red clock ticks at her feet. Her actions become faster as she leaps from the branch that she'd been perched on. A new blade flicks to her palm, this one smaller. She manages to stab the creature in the eye, hook her boot into the large blade that's sticking out of it's chest and flip backwards keeping her dagger in her palm while grabbing her large Shurekin. The creature is probably still alive but it's blind in one eye. Yuffie has no idea what's happened to the other two.]

I do, yeah. Although it's not probably anything all that impressive compoared to what you've seen from other superheroes.

[ Her purifying only works on Akuma, as far as she knew, though Lucky Charm came in pretty handy. And of course, her enchanced physical abilities have saved her life more than once. ]

[ Ladybug had things well in hand with the other two - both were tangled up in her yoyo string and dangling from a tree branch by the time Yuffie finished with the one that had attacked her. That beast was definitely still alive, but it wasn't taking any chances, turning with a screech of mpain as it fled the scene. That shuriken has probably got some pretty gnarly chewmarks though. ]

[Yuffie sticks her tongue out at the beast before turning back to Ladybug with a grunt. She flicks her wrist and sheaths her Shurekin. She'll have to fix it later and is not looking forward to that.]

Problem solved!

I see you got the others tied up. What are you doing out here anyway?

hey, you never know. i've seen some pretty useless superpowers in my day. like a guy who couldn't do anything but turn his body into poison gas. a bad guy, obviously, but i feel like that one would suck even more if you weren't a villain. and there's one dude who can pretty much only make people angry by having eye contact with them. the worst, right?

so... what can you do?

[ Those couple of examples will hopefully make her feel a little less self-conscious, if her powers really are somewhat underwhelming. ]

I'm not so sure turning your body into poison gas is useless for a supervillain. [ You could do some pretty massive damage with that kind of a power. ]

Well... I can purify akuma, for one. Although thankfully, there haven't been any akuma showing up here. Which makes sense since Papillion isn't here either. [ As far as she knows. ]

[ She's a little wary about blurting out all of her abilities, for what might be obvious reasons. ]

And when I'm facing off against an enemy, my power will create an item that I can use to get the upper hand. Though it's pretty random.. but my Miraculous can always restore any damage or injuries that are sustained during the course of a battle, which is pretty handy when there's a lot of property damage.

[ Ladybug nodded behind her to where the little Koruk was huddled. ]

I was protecting this little guy. He got hit with one of those venomous .. spit balls and couldn't run away. I thought I'd get him ...her... uh, it, over to the river and see if washing it off would help.

At least that was the plan before those brutes showed up.
