[ The video feed opens with one Hana Song looking absolutely pleased with herself and decked-out in her signature plugsuit. With an undeniable, confident smirk on her face, she declares: ]

D.Va online! Finally.

First of all, shout-out to the guy from the Perimeter Guard who personally delivered the best present a girl could ever ask for—

[ Hana stretches her arm out, offering the feed an extended view of what's behind her: a large pink mech, whirring and glowing with lights. Its apparently pilot beams at the camera and flashes a victory sign at the corner of the screen. ]

Ta-dah! Riverview Quarantine, let me introduce you to my state-of-the-art armored battle suit, a.k.a. a mech unit for the Mobile Exo-Force of the Korean Army, a.k.a. my MEKA unit! Someone out there must really like me, huh? You guys are not prepared for what you're gonna get to see coming up.

[ The screen then flips back to Hana, looking very contemplative. ]

But I'm in a bit of a pinch here. None of my engineers are around, obviously, and I know some basics, but this baby's going to need a lot of maintenance. [ it is high-maintenance like its pilot ] I know there's a lot of new people coming in, and there's still a lot of you guys who've been here a while. Any chance any of you are mechanical geniuses who wanna help out? I'm looking only for the best of the best! Come down to the garage of communal housing if you wanna marvel at this beauty!

[ Does she mean herself? Or the mech? It is a mystery! ]

Oh, and one last thing? [ She seems to move for a little bit and then pans the camera so that a sign that reads: "MECH PARKING ONLY" is visible over her shoulder. ] This parking spot? Mine. If anyone parks in my spot my mech and I are stepping on your vehicle. That's all! Love, D.Va!

I'm a mechanic, I can take a look if you want. No big promises, though, seeing as it's not from my world.

[But hell, he's a jack of all trades, he can probably figure it out.]

Nice seeing you again, by the way. We met at the masquerade.

[Which... he recognizes her, since she'd slipped her mask off a few times, but his mask had conveniently hidden the fact that he's missing his right eye.]

[ Not only had the mask conveniently hidden the fact that his right eye is missing, the illusory magic also conveniently made it difficult for Hana to actually piece his appearance together. So, she squints at him and— ]

Wait, did we? Who are you?

[ sorry Dodger ]

The guy who taught you how to swing.

[He's still pretty impressed that she could keep up, in her own way.]

[ The realization dawns on her and reads clearly as her expression changes, eyes widening and a smile forming. ]

Oh! The guy with the fancy footwork! I remember.

So you're a mechanic, huh? I know my mech is gonna be unfamiliar territory to most people, but I have the basic schematics and I know tech wizards have come through that portal.

Yeah, I work over at Breaking and Centering.

[Which is a fucking ironic place for a criminal to work for a day job.

Also, he's honestly pretty happy she's not put off by discovering he looks like... this.]

You mentioned it's military technology? This sorta thing normal where you're from?

[ Cisco responds by video, though he usually prefers text, because his hands are shaking way too much with excitement and delight to actually type words coherently. As is, he's grinning and laughing so much it takes a moment for him to actually speak. ]

A mech! A real, live, honest-to-god, actual mech! Oh man, this is like, a dream come true, you don't even know! You gotta let me take a look at it! I'm an engineer and I love maintenance!

[ Listen, she hangs out with Genji pretty regularly nowadays, so it's one eye missing versus a mostly-cybernetic ninja. She's curious about his missing eye, for sure, and while subtlety isn't really her strongest suit, she's got more important things at hand right now. ]

Yeah, it is. So I don't have the full details on the tech since that's, you know, classified.

[ Enthusiasm and excitement go a long way in Hana's book, so she already likes this guy. In fact, she's even more pleased because, hell yeah, her mech is definitely something to freak out about. ]

You are, huh? Well, today could be your lucky day! Tell me about your experience working with this kinda thing.

[ and now it's lowkey a job interview ]

[He nods along... quietly wondering if there's anything he can learn from the mech that will help him anywhere else. Widowmaker's mines were helpful like that.]

I'm sure I can figure it out - especially if you've got schematics for it. But - just letting you know up front - I don't have time to join a pit crew. Just help you out if something goes seriously wrong, maybe clean up after stunts outside of the walls. Guessing anyone else you get to help won't like me hanging around too often anyway.

[ There is not much about himself that Cisco will really boast about - his self-esteem can be, shall we say, not the greatest - but one of the few things is his mechanical know-how. So when Hana asks about his qualifications, he's more than ready to give them. ]

Working with this particular kinda thing? None. We haven't got mechs where I come from. Most of what I do recently is suits and tech for superheroes, if you know what they are.

[ Lotta people here from a lot of different types of worlds, and not all of them share the same concepts and terms. So while Cisco's world doesn't have armies with mechs, it's possible this girl's world doesn't even have superheroes in comics or films, much less in reality. ]

But I've done a bunch of other stuff, too - I spent a while designing and building a particle accelerator and developing tech that'll neutralize superpowers. I've got degrees and all that, and I'm a fast learner.

[ Formal qualifications haven't mattered much to Cisco, since he'd started working at S.T.A.R. Labs - they were only ever important because other people thought they were. ]

It'd be easier to just show you what I can do, honestly.

[ Holy shit. ]

... You're really a mech pilot?

[ Okay, duh, but he sure as hell didn't see that one coming. ]

[ That's right, she is more than just a pretty face, okay? ]

What, you think, I'm making this up? No way. Why don't you come downstairs and see for yourself?

—I believe you.

[ After being whisked away to another world entirely, what's there not to believe from here on... Hana is certainly a surprising one, though. ]

But it isn't everyday you end up knowing someone who knows how to drive a robot.

[ Where she's from, they have something like superheroes. They have Overwatch. Or, more precisely, had Overwatch. Nevertheless the fact that Cisco has done tech for actual superheroes is something Hana finds impressive and definitely worth some points. The particle accelerator is pretty impressive too, she guesses, but whatevs. ]

Hmmm. That's pretty good. What's your name? I'll have you know that I don't normally let just anyone get into my mech's insides, so I have to know that you're good. Really good.

[ Uh, okay. ]

Why not? You some sort of mysterious enigma or something?

I'm not looking for a full-time engineer, anyway. I need someone to teach me this stuff so I can do it myself. I may not be an engineer, but I still know my baby the best!

Well, then you have to savor this! Not only do you know someone who knows how to drive a robot, you know the #1 someone who knows how to drive a robot!

[ Spunky and confident as ever... He can't help but chuckle. ]

Looks like I do. The look suits you.

[ She soaks the compliment up like the driest sponge around. ]

Well, duh. I'm pretty much destined for this.

So, are you gonna come down and see it in person or what?

Alright, alright, on my way. Gimme a few minutes.

[ It sounds too cool to turn down!! ]

Oh! Right, ha. Probably shoulda led with that, huh? Cisco Ramon. Nice to meet you, D.va, wasn't it?

[ He says it the same way that she had, not really sure if it's a name or alias or any of that, but jus sort of going with the flow as best as he can.

When she says she wants to be sure he shrugs and suggests: ]

So set up some kind of test. I'll ace it, and then you can relax knowing that beauty is in good hands.

[ After all, she's not wrong, to be wary and want to ensure whoever is working on her mech is actually competent, not to mention trustworthy. The trustworthy thing is harder to prove, but Cisco's more than happy to jump through a hoop or two to prove he's got the chops when it comes to mechanics. And if he doesn't pass the test, then he shouldn't be messing with tech that far advanced, in the first place. As horrible as even the thought of that is to him. ]

_{[He's never seen a mech before! or somebody who can pilot one. Not even when he was on that space ship months ago did he see anything quite like this. He twists the fringe of his hair between his fingers before replying:]}

Ah.. so cute.

Truly, you must love that mech more than anything— it looks like it matches your soul!

[ Hana gives an "okay!" before they end the transmission and in spite of her insistence, she's patient in waiting. Whenever Yuuto arrives to the garage of their residential building and to Hana's parking spot, she'll be standing next to it, still in the process of looking it over to make sure nothing got messed up in transit, or something. ]

[ She'll take that as a compliment for both, thank you very much. Both is good.

That said, she can't help but giggle because— somehow, the way this guy's put it is so... extra? ]

Yeah, it totally matches my soul. My soul is definitely pink and it's got bunny ears!

[ Except she does earnestly believe that, so it doesn't come off as sarcastic or anything. ]

[ It does just sound like the word "diva," but stylized like a Korean pop idol's stage name since that is pretty much what Hana is. ]

D.Va, but you can call me Hana. That's my actual name. Nice to meetcha, Cisco!

[ After that, though, she looks thoughtful. It wouldn't really be fair to test him when neither of them are even sure he'd be familiar with this tech, since everyone comes from different places. ]

Well, I don't really know how to test someone on this kinda thing. But maybe this could help: what year is it where you're from?

[ Ten minutes pass before Yuuto eventually shows up; among the cars, Hana's mech... really stands out.

He pauses a safe distance away, as if coming closer might break the thing, watching as she closely inspects the surface of the machine. After a moment or so, he ventures into the silence: ]

It looks even bigger in person.
