[Ed and Al had spent the night at their new repair shop fixing it up so it isn't until after the fire is over and everyone is safe that they even find out about it. Putting his own personal feelings aside regarding that situation Ed does the first thing he knows how to do as soon as he finds out.]

If anyone needs help repairing damages from the fire my brother and I can fix things pretty quick.

[A pause before switching to a different intended audience.]

Anyone else that can help, we might want to put our resources together to get everything back in order.

[He could reconstruct an entire inn after it was blown up, so he has confidence in his ability to handle things if no one else steps forward, but chances were that any magic users in the Quarantine would probably make quick work where even he couldn't.

And everyone was going to need a place to sleep, tonight.]

I can't do much against fire except snuff out whatever is left. Otherwise, I'll help rebuild a bit.

I think the fire itself is under control by now.

[He wouldn't know, he's posting this from the store.]

When we get back we can fix some things with alchemy, but we need to see the extent of the damage first.

Yeah, I, um... Can't help much with that. But if you need extra workers, you know where to find me.

[A pause. He doesn't like that he missed the whole thing, he could have been helping before now.]

Were you there?

[ nico, meanwhile, shrugs. he yawns and stretches, then refocuses. ]

I was exploring more of the area around the temple. Since the memory thing, I've been wary, but the god is still asleep.

[alchemyfreak]

That was a good idea.

[He looks visibly relieved, honestly.]

Don't wear yourself out, though.... wait, did you go alone?

[That hardly seemed safe.]

[deathkid]

I won't. And yes, I did. I often do.

[ a beat and then. ]

Why does it matter?

[A shrug.]

I guess it doesn't.

[If he does this all the time Ed doubts Nico wants to be questioned about it. Ed's going to just brush it off like he's not worried.]

Just seems risky, going out to the temple by yourself. It was dangerous with a group.

I'm fine by myself.

Yeah, I'm sure.

[Ed knows Nico's abilities but that doesn't stop him from being concerned. He won't push it but he's not exactly good at hiding his expressions.]

[ scowling a little at the expression ed makes, he huffs. ]

I am.

[alchemyfreak]

[He's a little thrown off by that reaction, because he was being sincere so the confusion is abruptly replaced by surprise.]

I know, I know. I've seen what you're capable of.

[Have a placating gesture Nico, Ed doesn't look too happy about offending him. Worrying about friends was just habit at this point, even the ones more powerful than him, but no one else seemed to take offense to it.]

[ and nico knows ed's just worried because he cares. he takes a deep breath and releases it slowly. ]

Sorry, it's just... well.

[ a shrug as he looks away. ]

[His head tilts at that reaction. There seemed to be more to what Nico was saying, but he didn't continue so Ed shrugged.]

Nah, it's fine. It's not my business anyway.

[Ed remembers having to repair some crumbling foundation already in this place, thanks to Marco's text. He has no idea what the guy's skill sets are so he's not going to ask how he plans to help, if the offer is there he's going to believe it's a genuine one and he can do what he claims.]

That might come in handy.

Alchemy.

As long as nothing got blown away by the wind we can reconstruct the building with what's there. Anything missing will need to be replaced though.

Transmuting gold is illegal, though.

man, that just takes all the fun out of it.

You'd think, but there's plenty you can do with alchemy without making gold.

With the right materials and skill, you can make basically anything.

[ hooking his chin over ed's shoulder, he peers down at his brother's device. after listening to the post he makes, he makes a low noise in his throat. his fingers reach over ed's other shoulder to pluck it from his brother's hands and then sets it aside. ]

[Ed blinks as Al takes the device from his hand, head tilting curiously.]

A few offers to help put things back together. No one with any personal items... I don't think we can fix that whole building ourselves.

[Sky scrapers were a bit out of Ed's experience level, even with the buildings he's put together.]

[ knowing ed can accomplish quite a bit when he puts his mind to it, al makes another noise in the back of his throat. then, pulling away, he scoops up a nearby broom and considers it before taking it to the floor. as he sweeps, he talks. ]

Maybe we should go over there anyway, just to check?

[He watches curiously as Al moves to sweep the floor.]

There's no way to know until we see the extent of the damage. It looks like they got the fire taken care of before we even woke up though... Things here can wait until later.

We might need to come back here just to have somewhere to sleep tonight, anyway.

[Ed's already wondering where everyone is supposed to sleep if the building isn't repaired before the night.]

[ setting aside the broom, he dusts off his hands on his coat and then looks over at his brother. they've got a job to do and he's preparing himself mentally for it. ]

[ And here is Shigeru with his pad and the video feature on as he writes something. At least he's met Ed before, but Al is a new face. ]

My powers allow me to rebuild things as well. So if you need any help I can definitely offer up my powers!

[Ed's a little surprised Shigeru wouldn't just default to text, but he smiles when he recognizes him on the feed, regardless.]

Yeah, that'd be helpful! Do you live in the building? We're going to head over in a bit to see how bad the damage is and what needs fixing.

[ Shigeru will shake his head. ]

I used to, so I really want to help out if possible. I hope a lot of people don't need need it, but I'm also a doctor so I can help in that respect too.

Whatever you can do I'm sure will be appreciated. I'm not used to so many healers and magic users around, so they might not need much help at all by the time we get there.

Still, we're going to check it out. If we can help there's no reason not to, any way we can.

That sounds like a good idea! It might do some good to try and help rebuild anything damaged. Personal belongings from people's worlds are probably hard to come by, so helping people with those would be a nice gesture.

That's the plan.

[He smirks. Ed figures people are going to want things fixed that aren't replaceable and that's something he knows they can do. Obviously restoring the building to something safe and able to live in would come first.]

It wouldn't hurt to get a reputation going around here since repairing things is basically what we do. We just need to figure out who needs something fixed.

[ He nods and smiles on his end. ]

I haven't met anyone else here with powers similar to my own. So it'll fun seeing and joining together to help everyone out!

[A pause as Ed registers that before looking thoughtful.]

You know, outside of my world, neither have I.

[Sure, lots of people said what they did was alchemy, but none of them had ever offered any evidence they could do what Ed could. Unlike Shigeru who at least seems to have something similar going on.]

It's a bit...strange, isn't it? Seeing and meeting people with powers like your own? For me it's...strange because in my world my powers are often feared and treated with hatred.

But I don't have to worry about that too much here.

[ It's nice to not be feared or worry when he uses his powers whether or not people might try to throw things at him or try to arrest him for what he was. ]

It's ... kind of odd, back home alchemy wasn't exactly uncommon but I guess meeting other alchemists outside of the military didn't happen too much now that I think about it.

Alchemy's feared in some places too, but that's not so wide spread.

[He offers a smile at that, no it was nice not having to worry about home world biases in this place, there was that.]

Feeling helpful is great though, isn't it? Not being hated for no reason.

[Ed remembers how much more useful he felt in Purg after being there, even as highly as he was regarded at home there was something unique about feeling like part of the community the way he did there.]

It is! That's why I use my powers regardless of what others think!

[ He sure doesn't care about it too much anymore. ]

How do people in your world get to use alchemy? Can everyone do it?

Alchemy is… Something you need to study to know. Everyone has the potential to learn it, but not everyone has the proper skills or dedication.

[Alchemy’s work, Shigeru. Some people are just a little more naturally talented.]

[ Not that he really needs to, but it is pretty intriguing. ]

It sounds like such a useful thing to know. I wonder why more people don't try to learn it?

You could try.

[He frowns thoughtfully. He hadn't really thought of it before.]

This place isn't exactly like the others I was in before, but- the first world I was in, at least, we couldn't learn each other's abilities. It was just an accepted way of how things were there before I arrived.

Skills were also more taxing than they are back home, you put forth more effort for smaller results. Teaching others might have just been too much of a burden to test it out.

[ Shigeru eyes him curiously before smiling slightly. ]

Would you...be willing to teach me? My powers being similar to your own might actually make the process easier.

[He catches the curious look and quirks a brow at the question.]

We could try, it would be interesting to see if there are any results here. My brother tried to show a friend but- it was only one lesson, nothing really came of it.
