[It’s a bit overwhelming to go from one place to suddenly another—without the aid of a ship or anything of the like. Then, be greeted by strangers and be told they were in a different place. Rey is trying to grapple with it, but everything seems out of place to her. There wasn’t anything that screamed this was the First Order’s doing, nor could she sense Kylo Ren’s presence, but she still had to keep her guard up.

The device she’s using—a phone is what they told her—is an interesting one. It’s small, compact, and has other uses to it. Later, she’ll try to tinker with it maybe even take it apart to see how it works, but right now she needs answers.]

Has anyone else asked why we were brought here? Or, if they have, do they believe the answer?

Additionally, are there any ships here? If not, maybe an area with parts or a junkyard?

[It wouldn't be wise of her to say who she is. Who knows if there are members of the First Order are here. Or, really, anyone that has connections to the First Order.]

I haven't heard of any scientist being able to do what you just did. The only other person that would come to mind would be a magician, but it wasn't that either.

[ At first, Obi-Wan didn't want to move. But he finds his hands moving to hold the lightsaber. Its design was intimately familiar to Obi-Wan. He knew its grooves, the shape of its hilt. If he closed his eyes, he could picture it perfectly, the first time he handed it to Anakin with a fond smile. This weapon is your life.

Even if Anakin had lost it, finding its way to another person is a sign of the Force.

Anakin. His Anakin. How could you do this to me?

His head bows as he curls the lightsaber close to his chest, a weight settled upon his brow. His face is a shadow, unreadable. There is no line of pain etched across his face.

For Jedi do not cry. ]

I have no idea. A part of me wants to think that they're just not interested in dealing with us and that they're not hiding anything. My gut's telling me that there's more to it though.

Have you gone to space? What's it like?

[Rey knows how valuable that lightsaber is. It's Luke's and his father's. It's a family heirloom that Kylo Ren wanted to possess. His 'birthright,' yet it called to her. She heard it, heard the Force calling to her and guided it to the weapon. Her life hasn't been the same since...

Looking at Obi-Wan, how he handles it and looks over it....it's clear to her that he is a Jedi. No one else would know the grooves or the weight of it. He hasn't tried to keep it from her, or run off with it.

But there is something solemn...maybe even sad about seeing him hold it. Did it mean something to him too? How many hands have touched this lightsaber? Rey averts her gaze, feeling foolish for having doubted him--especially because of his rank.]

I'm sorry. [She murmured softly, apologizing for not believing in him and for giving him such a hard time...and perhaps, for whatever he was feeling now. ]

If they're not interested in dealing with us, why bring us here at all? It doesn't make any sense, among other things.

Yes, I have. It's...exhilarating to take off on a ship, to pilot it and guide it from leaving one planet and going into space. There are so many stars, so many planets you could visit.

[ A couple of minutes tick by and it seems like Obi-Wan hasn't heard her. But finally, he stirs as if waking from a long sleep. He lets out a quiet exhale before extending the lightsaber back to her. It wasn't his and it made its way to her. Obi-Wan isn't going to contest the will of the Force. Every movement feels like a silent crack in his facade. It had only been a few months since Satine. Since Ahsoka. And this was a grief Obi-Wan had never prepared himself for. Masters aren't meant to outlive their students. ]

It is not your fault.

[Rey is more than willing to wait in silence for him. She wouldn't rush the process or demand the object back. He needed time, needed closure too--she could only guess. Part of her wants to ask what his connection to the lightsaber, but it's not her place. She wouldn't push or pry.

Rey extends her hand to him, taking the item from him and the sense of familiarity comes over her again. She takes the lightsaber and places it back in her pouch for safe keeping.]

But it is. [For bringing this to him, but she had to know. She looks over him again and her eyes widen slightly. She would've remembered meeting a face like his but..his voice.]

You guided me. Your voice it...I've heard it before.

[jedies]

[ Obi-Wan blinks, momentarily caught off guard before shaking his head. ]

You're not from the Temple. And we certainly haven't met before.

[ Which is another conundrum, but Obi-Wan isn't looking at it too closely right now. His heart couldn't bear it. ]

[Rey wants to tell him there is no temple. There is very little of the Jedi that she knows of. The only Jedi is Luke and even then, he hasn't been seen in years. He tried to train new Jedi but...that's something she doesn't want to get into.]

No, no we haven't, but you.. [How can she put this into words that would make sense without giving too much away?]

I had a vision and I heard your voice, guiding me--telling me to go.

No, it doesn't. There's too many questions that aren't being answered.

It sounds amazing. I have a paraglider to soar along with, but it definitely can't get me to space. If you find a ship, do you think I could come along?

A paraglider? Is that like a speeder?

I wouldn't be able to. I have somewhere I need to be, and being stuck here isn't going to help anything.

[It had certainly been on his mind, but he had been pretty distracted lately.]

I don't think so? It's made from wood and canvas and it lets you glide through the air. It's really handy to get around really mountainous places. It's good to use on top of the buildings here too.

Do you sit on it? Or, hold onto it? It sounds similar to a Speeder...but I don't know what a paraglider looks like.

So far, it seems safe if you're in the city. There's monsters in areas of it but they don't seem to bother people unless they go exploring.

I think the people who are brought here are needed here and in their own worlds. It might be that you're needed here more.

I don't think I have a talent for mechanics.

Most of our bikes and cars run on tires on the ground. There are motorcycles, bikes, that run on magic that can fly.

How could I be needed here more? Are there Jedi here? [Specifically the one she's looking for? It stupid of her to reply to that, but whoops there it went. She needs to be more careful.]

Have you tried mechanics?

Magic? That doesn't exist.

[Sorry, but of all the things in the universe, magic isn't something that helps. It's good in fairy tales but nothing else.]

That's not possible.

[ None of the Masters have that skill. To project themselves through visions. Most likely the Force borrowed his likeness but . . . why? Why him? It was hard to think. Hard to breathe. The inescapable knowledge of Anakin's death seems to steal the air from his lungs. There is no death, there is only the Force.

Breathe. He is not broken yet. Whatever this might be . . . it's far into the future. And no future is immutable.

We do not keep our individuality once we enter the Force.

[It wasn't Rey's intention to add onto Obi/Wan's plate. To make him further upset or pensive. Maybe she was wrong--no, she knew what she heard. The same tone, the same pitch...There was no denying it, but the Jedi Master was doing just that. Just as she once had.

However, maybe it was time for her to leave. He proved himself to be a Jedi...and it didn't feel like to ask him for help. Not right now. ]

I don't know what to tell you, but I heard you.

[ She began to take a step back. She could visit the communal hall later. ]

I haven't really seen any monsters. We learned about them in orientation for the guard, but the only thing I've seen out there is wild animals.

Those might be what people think of as 'monsters'.

I'm not sure, but I keep thinking there has to be a reason why we're here. It could be there's something that will happen that needs our expertise.

[Then Alec thinks of Max, who was saved when nothing but a miracle could have brought him back to his family or Jace needing time to heal from whatever had happened before he arrived.]

Maybe we need to be here before we fulfill those duties back home. Maybe there's something we need to learn or we need time to rest before the next battle.

What's a Jedi?

Depending on what world you're from, magic does exist.

The guard? The people who protect the city? I recall that being mentioned during orientation but assumed it was filled by other government agents.

But if they're bringing us here because something might happen, being told that upon arrival would make more sense. It would answer at least one main question and possibly others. This place just doesn't make sense.

Ecen being told something as needing to learn a lesson would be helpful--especially those that didn't feel "displaced" in the first place.

My parabatai and I are part of the guard. We only arrived a few months ago so we're still learning about the different wildlife and if the monsters really are what we'd call monsters.

It'd make more sense but bureaucracy rarely makes sense. Those in power rarely seem to listen to logic or use it when it's needed.

Someone might not realize they feel displaced. When I was younger, I wouldn't have. I would have assumed that what I felt was normal.

We don't have Jedi in my world, but we have protectors. There's not as many of us as there used to be. There might be Jedi here though. People get drawn from dozens of realities.

It's magic. In my world it exists and I experience it daily.

Well, monsters to some could be different creatures to others. Depending on which you're on, I mean they have their own monsters to deal with too. But, there's only wild animals here, and judging from the climate, no sinking sands or anything.

Very true. I spoke to someone earlier about this, but, is it true the officials of this place haven't been seen? Like the mayor or anyone of that level?

I don't feel displaced, and I was on my way to do something and now I'm here...and I need to find a way out.

I don't know if the Jedi would be brought to a place like this...realities aside, the Jedi are from long ago. Decades ago.

Those who say they can do magic from my world are con artists. They can either sell you something or do cheap parlor tricks.
