[It’s a bit overwhelming to go from one place to suddenly another—without the aid of a ship or anything of the like. Then, be greeted by strangers and be told they were in a different place. Rey is trying to grapple with it, but everything seems out of place to her. There wasn’t anything that screamed this was the First Order’s doing, nor could she sense Kylo Ren’s presence, but she still had to keep her guard up.
The device she’s using—a phone is what they told her—is an interesting one. It’s small, compact, and has other uses to it. Later, she’ll try to tinker with it maybe even take it apart to see how it works, but right now she needs answers.]
Has anyone else asked why we were brought here? Or, if they have, do they believe the answer?
Additionally, are there any ships here? If not, maybe an area with parts or a junkyard?
[It wouldn't be wise of her to say who she is. Who knows if there are members of the First Order are here. Or, really, anyone that has connections to the First Order.]

How could I be needed here more? Are there Jedi here? [Specifically the one she's looking for? It stupid of her to reply to that, but whoops there it went. She needs to be more careful.]
Have you tried mechanics?
Magic? That doesn't exist.
[Sorry, but of all the things in the universe, magic isn't something that helps. It's good in fairy tales but nothing else.]

Those might be what people think of as 'monsters'.
I'm not sure, but I keep thinking there has to be a reason why we're here. It could be there's something that will happen that needs our expertise.
[Then Alec thinks of Max, who was saved when nothing but a miracle could have brought him back to his family or Jace needing time to heal from whatever had happened before he arrived.]
Maybe we need to be here before we fulfill those duties back home. Maybe there's something we need to learn or we need time to rest before the next battle.
What's a Jedi?
Depending on what world you're from, magic does exist.

But if they're bringing us here because something might happen, being told that upon arrival would make more sense. It would answer at least one main question and possibly others. This place just doesn't make sense.
Ecen being told something as needing to learn a lesson would be helpful--especially those that didn't feel "displaced" in the first place.
[ Oh, it would make sense he doesn't know of the Jedi. Not many do. ] They were protectors of the galaxy, but now there's only one left.
Are you sure it's not simply science? It could be mistaken for magic.

It'd make more sense but bureaucracy rarely makes sense. Those in power rarely seem to listen to logic or use it when it's needed.
Someone might not realize they feel displaced. When I was younger, I wouldn't have. I would have assumed that what I felt was normal.
We don't have Jedi in my world, but we have protectors. There's not as many of us as there used to be. There might be Jedi here though. People get drawn from dozens of realities.
It's magic. In my world it exists and I experience it daily.

Well, monsters to some could be different creatures to others. Depending on which you're on, I mean they have their own monsters to deal with too. But, there's only wild animals here, and judging from the climate, no sinking sands or anything.
Very true. I spoke to someone earlier about this, but, is it true the officials of this place haven't been seen? Like the mayor or anyone of that level?
I don't feel displaced, and I was on my way to do something and now I'm here...and I need to find a way out.
I don't know if the Jedi would be brought to a place like this...realities aside, the Jedi are from long ago. Decades ago.
Those who say they can do magic from my world are con artists. They can either sell you something or do cheap parlor tricks.
no subject
So far all I've seen is wild animals. You're from a desert?
I haven't seen them, but I honestly haven't really tried to find out more about why my family was brought here. It's safer here than at home. I think that people have been sent home.
They might be here or may arrive eventually. I know people who were brought from the same reality but from different points in time.
Be careful who you say that too. Someone might get offended and turn you into something small and furry.
Magnus' magic is real. He can do thinks that can't be explained with science or parlor tricks.
no subject
Yes, from a planet called Jakku. It's just desert, not much grows out there.
I can understand this place possibly being safer compared to others, but it's still a mystery. Even if the Jedi are here, I need to be elsewhere. There are people...people who are counting on me.
Wait...different time points? Like from the past or the future? How...is that even possible?
I wouldn't say it everyone, but it's hard to believe in without seeing it. And even then, usually the people performing 'magic' are very good at lying. But, if there is real magic...it would be interesting to see. I'm open to the idea of it.

How does anyone survive on a planet that is nothing but desert? There'd be no food or water.
Someone might be able to help you get home.
My brother and I are from two different points in time. I don't know how it's possible but he's from the past, or from earlier in my life than when I was brought here.
There's a place here that studies different types of magic from different realities. They may be able to explain it better. I just know the basics of magic that Magnus taught me.
He might be willing to show you, depending on the mood he's in.
no subject
You learn to deal with it. You learn to survive, how to rash your food, your water. You learn how to work in the heat, and when to avoid the hotter times of the day.
Maybe. I'm not going to bet on it.
How far back in the past? A year? Two?
Wait, you can learn magic? I thought...well, I don't know what to think now.
I don't want to impose, and I have nothing to offer in return. Until I can figure a way out of here, or establish myself, I've got nothing to trade.
no subject
My brother's is about six months behind me, but I'm not sure about the rest of my family. They don't remember things that they should.
Someone here told me that time isn't a straight line. If that's true then it could be more than a year or two.
I can't learn magic but others can. In my world certain traits determine who can do magic but that might not be true in other realities.
You wouldn't be imposing if he's in one of his moods to show off. If you did want to see his magic or ask for him to do a spell, he would like the idea of a trade.
It's show that it's valuable to you.
no subject
But in taking people from different time points..doesn't that mess with the past? Or the future? Or have any consequences?
Like physical traits? Or do you mean just the ability? Like, some people are born with it and others are not? I'm sorry for the questions, I'm just curious.
Until I have something of equal value, I won't ask. It isn't my place to, and in order for me to have something to trade...I'll need to find work. Assuming I can't find a way home first.
no subject
I don't know. Maybe if they return us, no one ever knows we were gone.
In my world it's both. Some physical traits hint that a person can do magic but it's an ability only a few people have.
There's nothing wrong with asking questions. We're all from different worlds. Most of us are curious about the places their friends come from.
Magnus would like a trade. People assume he should do magic for them because he can. If he throws a party, he might decide to show off without wanting to trade.
no subject
Maybe...that would make sense.
That sounds interesting. It is well known that people can do magic? Or is it kept a secret?
Why would people assume such things? It is a skill--one that deserves payment, unless it's done out of free will and not expected of them. I would find that insulting--which is why I wouldn't ask. What would he trade for? Portions--food? Or other materials?
no subject
I'm not sure that any of it makes sense, but I think some people should stay here.
Most of the ones who don't have it don't know it exist. People who are connected to the supernatural know it exists.
There are people here who study it. They may be able to explain it better than I can.
Magnus will like you. You're one of the few people I've met that think of magic that way.
People assume because they're thoughtless or they assume that because he has magic he should use it to help them. I'm not sure what he'd trade for but it could be something as simple as stories about your world.
Or he may want to show off to prove that magic does exist.
no subject
Nothing makes sense, or maybe it's not meant to make sense now...who knows.
How interesting...to keep it a secret from other people. So, I take it magic is just a myth to those who don't know of it?
I would hope that he would be able to tolerate me at least, and if he likes me...that would be nice. I would like to meet him and you too. You've been very nice and helpful. It's not common from where I'm from.
I'm Rey by the way.
no subject
Most people think it's a myth. It's safer for most beings if those without magic keep thinking magic isn't real. People used to be hunted just for the suspicion of being able to do magic.
I don't think our society has really evolved beyond that. We still hurt what we think is different.
Maybe you're here to see a place where it's more common to be nice and helpful?
I'm Alec. Magnus runs the Quarantine bar. We're usually there most nights if you want to meet us. When you've settled in you should come see us.
I probably can convince him to do a few minor spells to show off.
no subject
Maybe? Who's to say that isn't it.
I might visit you at the cantina, but it might be a while. I'll try though. It would be nice to meet you and him in person--magic spells or not.
I need to go but, thank you again.
