Video Open | un: blacklion

[The video opens with a rather hesitant looking Shiro. There's really nothing behind him as of the moment, but he does glance over at something almost right as the video kicks on]

So... it seems this place just keeps getting weirder. It seems we had some recent arrivals from our world and well... it's better to show you.

[He turned back to whatever he had been looking at]

Come here. You can come here.

[Faintly in the background there was the sound of metal moving off screen then something walked into view of the camera so others could see it. It was quite clearly a black robot lion with glowing yellow eyes, several panels glowing blue, and red wing like protrusions on its back. It's was larger than a normal lion. It walked over and sat down next to Shiro, leaning in as though trying to figure out what he was holding]

This is the Black Lion of Voltron. However, its usually not this... small.

[Yes, he is calling a robot that's larger than a normal lion small]

I'm usually shorter than Black's foot. Let me see it.

[This he says to the lion, which does raise one leg to let Shiro have its foot, but it basically drops all the weight into his hand which makes him flinch]

You are still made of metal and heavy.

[Someone might be able to faintly hear the snickering in the background, but then the next thing that happens is that Keith suddenly fell into the frame of the camera as though shoved by something, a vague red blur before it vanished. Shiro jumped when this happened and the Black Lion got up heading off camera again only to return a moment later carrying a smaller red lion by the "scruff" of the neck as Keith sat up. Shiro just put his chin in his free hand watching as Black carried Red off before he remembered this was still rolling and turned back]

They don't know their own strength.

[ooc: Meet your new neighbors, two of the lions from Voltron! Black is about the size of large liger and Red is the size of a small lion. They are... slightly more active than normal, but will probably be around their specific paladin for the most part.

Either Keith or Shiro is available to answer. If you have a preference or if your character is pinging a specific person, just let us know. It can even be both if you'd like! If no preference, random response.

[Keith chuckled a bit.]

You wanna come see them?

Sure why not. I heard enough about these robot lions before, I kind of want to see one in person. You know so I can cross it off my bucket list.

Where are you guys?

We're in the parking garage under the communal building... there's an area that apparently is reserved for large robotic vehicles. [Keith shrugged.] Hana was keeping her mech in this area until she moved out.

Well, not too far then. I'll be right down.

[That's exactly what he does. Lyle takes the elevator and heads straight down to the garage. Like most large cavernous places it seemed to echo.

Also it didn't take long to find Keith in the parking garage]

Hey there.

[Red picked her head up at the approach of someone else. She'd met a lot of people today, so it was getting less weird for her to see a new person. She was still visibly alert, though, her tail in an alert position. Her ears, too, but those were permanently fixed that way.]

Hey.

[Keith looked at Lyle as he approached and then at Red.]

Well, this is the Red Lion. Just really small.

[Really small... a robot with a shoulder height that came to around Keith's hip was really small.]

[Lyle walked over to get a better look at this lion as Keith spoke. It did get a faint chuckle at the remark of her being really small]

Yeah, based on what you told me, this is really small.

[Then he put his hand out towards Red]

Hey there, Red. I'm Lyle.

[The Lion watched him closely. She was close to Keith, not because she was afraid, but because she was protecting him. Though, the fact that he was calm about all these people so far helped in keeping her calm in return. She picked up on his familiarity with Lyle, and trusted his judgement. So, Lyle got a cold hard metal nose pressed against his hand in return greeting.]

That seems to be the way she's saying hi to everyone. [Keith shrugged.] She's never had an opportunity like this before, so I've never seen her really greet another person.

[Lyle waited patiently for Red to make the decision and smiled when the metal nose pressed against his hand]

Yeah I'd imagine saying hello to people would be hard when you are a lot bigger than they are. Just as long as she doesn't try to say hello with her teeth bared, I'm good with that.

Well, she's only got four... They didn't make a full set.

[Keith shrugged a little in amusement. At that, Red opened her mouth to show it was just the four fangs that were part of her mouth armor. But, there was still a laser canon in the back where her throat would be.]

She doesn't really need them, though.

Oh well, yeah that does change things a little.

[But as the lion opens its mouth to show off the teeth, he also sees the glowing circle in the back where the cannon is. He leaned down a little more to look at that, of course from off to the side because the other option is dangerous]

Uh, no, I would say she does not.

[Keith actually chuckled a little.]

Yeah. She's pretty well armed even without a full set of lion teeth. And she doesn't eat, so she doesn't need them for that, either.

[Red tilted her head a bit.]

No, you don't need to eat. Trust me.

[She sat down at that, her tail wrapping forward around her paws.]

See that? She's got a laser gun in the tail tip. The one in her mouth can also generate lava. Plus, the claws. And she can manifest a jaw blade, which basically looks like her carrying a dagger in her mouth.

[Still in something of a show-off kind of mood, the pale blue sparkles appeared around her mouth. It looked similar to the ones that appeared when Keith accessed his bayard from the particle storage in his armor. Then, sticking out the right side of her mouth, a long white dagger appeared.]

She can also manifest a rail gun on her back, but we won't be doing that today, right?

[The jaw blade disappeared in the same sparkles as before, and then Red lowered her head, almost disappointed looking.]

Man, imagine your food bill if she needed to eat.

[Lyle watched as she generated that jaw blade, his eyes going wide seeing the blade that generated out of no where]

Impressive.

[And he couldn't help, but laugh at the lion's reaction]

Another day, you can show that off. I'd like to see that. My mech has a lot of fire power too. Its not here though.

Heh... yeah. I don't know how much a real lion eats, but I know it's not cheap to feed one.

[Keith raised an eyebrow a little. Red studied Lyle again for a moment, and then looked up at Keith. He sighed a little.]

She uh... she's curious about your mech.

Yeah, not sure either. Over ten pounds of food a day wouldn't be an unreasonable guess.

[He also raised an eyebrow hearing that the lion was interested in his mech, but sure, why not]

So my mech is a variety in our world called a Gundam, which are humanoid looking mobile suits, but its significantly larger than a human. They all have a pilot who sits in the cockpit located in the chest and pilots it. Mine is called Zabanya. It's green and is the sniper of the group so it has a lot of long range weapons.

[He vaguely wonders what a robot lion is going to be picturing when he describes all of this]

[Well, she certainly had some ideas. Enough that Keith couldn't help but chuckle a little.]

Okay, I'm not sure if that's exactly it, Red, but I can see where you'd come up with that.

[Though, now Keith wasn't sure if he could describe it properly for Lyle's benefit.]

She's kind of picturing either an all green version of Voltron, or a humanized version of the Green Lion... with a sniper gun. It's kind of amusing.

[Lyle couldn't help a laugh at the last one. Oh man... too bad he couldn't see that one]

Well, it might look similar to Voltron but I don't know what that looks like. I doubt it looks like a humanized lion with a gun, but I love the idea. Wish I could see it.

I'm not much of an artist, but I'll have to see if I can draw a reasonable facsimile of a Gundam for you to see.

[That got a small purr from Red, and Keith smiled a bit.]

She might just hold you to that.

Well then I will have to. Can't disappoint a new lion friend.

[And now he's going to figure out how to draw Zabanya... this will be interesting]

So Red is fire? What other lions are there?

[Keith chuckled a little. Red was definitely charming her way through some of these meetings.]

Yeah. Her elemental power is a lava canon, and she can withstand very high temperatures.

Blue is the right leg. That one has a ice beam, a sonic canon, and apparently responds well in watery environments. So, we figure that makes her water and ice.

Yellow has extremely durable armor and can crash through rock. He's the left leg. The lower jaw also sticks out more, like an underbite, and that makes it easy for Hunk to dig with him. That probably makes him earth or rock.

Green is the left arm. She handles defense, can manifest the shield for Voltron. She also has a canon that can cause spontaneous vine growth, which makes her plant or forest or nature or something like that. We're not exactly sure how to figure that one.

Black has the ability to teleport or phase... though we only just found that one. It makes the head and torso of Voltron. Someone mentioned 'cosmos' as a thing, but I'm not really sure what that means, either. It's not really 'air', if you follow traditional elements, but I guess it comes close?

[Keith shrugged.]

[Lyle thinks about those options there, tapping a finger against his chin as Keith explained that]

That does seem to make sense. Standard elemental symbols are usually fire, water, earth. Plants don't usually get added to that, but it makes sense. Also a cannon that causes vines to grow is both confusing and amazing.

Now for Black... some people include 'spirit' as an elemental symbol. I don't really know what that would entail, but seems to make more sense if it can phase than air does.

Just a thought.

Maybe. That could work for something related to 'cosmos', too, right? Like some sort of weird mystical thing. There's a lot of weird mystical stuff going on with the Lions. That really would be right up there with the rest of it.

Yeah I guess that's possible. I mean if the weapons create themselves out of thin air then there is clearly something mystical about them. And since Black is the leader I'd guess given the position it has, then it would make sense that it might be the one to have the highest ability in... whatever it can do.

Yeah... I guess.

[Keith shrugged a little.]

We're still learning what it can do, really. The whole thing. It's weird. I don't know if Allura even knows everything about it, and her father was the one that built it.

Huh. Interesting though that the people who made them don't know everything about them either. I guess that's why they are magical lions huh.

Well, it was good seeing you again and it was nice meeting you, Red. I'll see if I can get you that picture of my Gundam.

Yeah.

[Keith nodded as Lyle spoke.]

It was.

[He looked down at Red as Lyle brought her back into the conversation as well, and she tilted her head a little at the comment before leaning her head forward to nose his hand in appreciation.]
