[ The recording shows Loki in a tall-backed chair, a faint green glow off-screen drawing his gaze now and then in the shadowy surroundings. Chinning a hand, he appears uncharacteristically sober, the way only a handful of people have witnessed, and his lips have lost their usual mischievous quirk.

Sighing as though this is a chore, he begins. His voice remains carefully level. ]

Tony Stark of Earth-616 has returned through the portal. I had his movements tracked via rune-magic in case he fell into a different dimension or was kidnapped into Hel-knows-where, that sort of thing tends to happen back home more often than not. But it seems, from what I can confirm from tracing his last steps, that they led him ... away from us.

[ His gaze falls to the mysterious glow, watching it from under hooded lashes instead of paying viewers any mind. ]

If anyone wants to claim his workshop in the perimeter guard headquarters, it's full of his last projects. Unfinished. I suggest our other-verse Starks take precedence over commandeering his mess to make use of it or throw it away.

[ Turning the phone around, the illumination reveals itself to be a ghostly green Tony going about his work on the other side of the desk, a conjured echo as the reality-bending god looks on with everyone else. Why Loki summoned it is unexplained, but he raises two fingers to brush aside the phantom with a gesture and it dissolves in an unearthly silent breeze. The workshop's lights remain off; Loki doesn't need them to see and he would rather hide his face. ]

I doubt he would mind, either way.

[ Stephen can never claim to be an expert reader of mood but he does know he's rarely seen Loki like this. So it stands that he asks, in all sincerity, ]

Are you alright?

[ Saying he's sorry seems a little pointless, and a meaningless platitude more likely than not. He can't begin to imagine how Loki's feeling, particularly after what he's told Jim about Tony and the relationship he had with him, as well as the way in which they parted. He knows there's very little he can say to make it better, but he can't accept simply sitting back and doing nothing. He can, at the very least, offer. ]

Any chance we can meet? Or would you rather be alone?

[ Oh, look, the lights are on when Loki answers from the same location. That's less dramatic. Much better, he deserves a pat on the back for not being extra-extra. ]

Yes, fine. Did you want anything in here put aside for yourself?

Wait, he's just. Gone?

[Tony's expression is some odd combination of confused and sympathetic. He's gotten enough to figure that this Loki and the other Stark were...close. But it's not like he knows either of them well enough to be able to comment on it.]

I can come take a look. If you want.

[It might be an awkward attempt, but he has been invited. Sort of.]

I think I'd be awful company right now. [ And he might break down again if anyone is too nice to him, especially in person. ] Thanks.

Ah, was he working on anything for your shuttle, or ... ? I can access his files if you need anything.

It's not going anywhere.

[ Pardon the short, pitched laugh. ]

Help yourself, you've more of a right than anyone.

[ He watches the feed before shaking his head, ]

No. I'm sure the... other Tonys would make better use than I could.

[ A beat. ]

I wanted to check on you.

[ Because if Tony is gone, there's nothing much that can be done about it. People seem to leave randomly all the time. ]

Sure.

[It's said almost on a sigh. He has no idea how to navigate this and is well aware that he's...probably going to make things worse. Not on purpose. But that's just sort of how things tend to go with him and emotional situations.

Can't help that he looks pretty damn close to the missing guy, either.]

You need anything?

I don't care if you're awful company, Loki. I'm not here just for your good days. [ But he's not going to push, so. ] Just keep that in mind, if you end up wanting or needing some company.

No, it's alright. We spoke vaguely about a few things for the guard, but nothing concrete came out of it.

If you make me say 'I'm fine' again, I'll turn your cloak into a rug.

[ Although he isn't particularly vicious about it, just evasive while on a tired defensive. ]

[ he's at work, so there's the sound of club music in the background, but it's muffled as he keeps the shadows drawn around him. ]

I'm sorry. I know how much he meant to you. I doubt you're in the mood for talking or anything, but in case you are, I'm not going anywhere.

Okay.

[ He is grateful, yet his silvertongue is lead and he can't suffuse much more of a reaction into himself other than a nod. ]

Maybe later we could go out for a drink.

No, I know my way around his things.

[ Well, that just sounds sad as Hel out-loud and he sighs at himself, rubbing a hand over his face. ]

I can show you his database, if you want. I used to break in all the time.

Alright. You know how to reach me, so just tell me whenever you want to meet, and I'll be there.

[ Until then, he can understand Loki's need to be alone, so he'll give him the room he needs. He just doesn't want the god to think he's completely alone— although he's sure he won't be short on people offering words of comfort and offers similar to his own. ]

[ so pUBLIC, NICO. ]

That's good to know. How is the club doing, Nico? I haven't been by in a few days, any disturbances?

[ Literally any other subject is welcome at this point, unenthused though he sounds. ]

I'm sorry about your friend. [He didn't know Tony, obviously, having not been here very long, but Loki is probably sad about his departure, and Hiccup can understand that. It hasn't been long and he still misses his friends. So his concern is genuine, empathetic.]

I didn't know him, but... if you ever want some quiet company, me and Toothless are around. [Loki had shown him kindness, he just wants to return it.]

How would that company prove quiet with you two, exactly?

[ The mildest humour threads through his inquiry. ]

[ he wasn't aware it was a secret! and he figures given the change of topic that loki is in need of distraction. ]

Not much. One guy got a bit too rowdy, so I had one of my zombies show him out, but after that it's been the usual. Kind of dull, really. So I summoned a new zombie and apparently he's was one of those bartenders that could throw around bottles when they mix drinks. Kind of an interesting revelation. I haven't let him behind the bar yet, though.

Let me know if you need anything, okay?

[He figures Loki might prefer text to other modes of communication right now, and so he affords him that privacy.]

He hasn't thrown around any rowdy patrons, has he? Because I'd love to see that.

[ If Norse gods blessed people ... ]

That can probably be arranged. I mean, they do everything I tell them to, so next time someone comes in causing trouble, I'll make sure it's visible on the cameras as the guy gets chucked out.

[ Stephen huffs slightly at that, a little amused but also getting more for his answer than Loki probably intended. ]

It's okay not to be "fine", you know. And you don't have to say it.

[ He's still on the floor at his apartment, having been getting ready to meditate when he heard a beep from his phone. ]

[He laughs softly at that.] Toothless picks up on moods pretty well, you know. He's good company when you're sad.
