[Video] un: arcarius

[Normally, Alec wouldn't broadcast video to whoever had their phone on, but he needs to ask as many people as possible about the friend he picked up while patrolling the night before. It takes him a few seconds for the camera to focus properly. When it does, Alec can be seen holding a very large tabby patterned ball of fluff.]

Did anyone lose a cat? I found him last night curled up in an alley. He looked like he'd been outside for a few days and is eating like he hasn't been fed regularly.

[He can't quite hide the disapproval in his tone. If someone did this to the poor cat intentionally, Alec is not going to be pleased.]

If he's yours, I'll return him. If not, my family would like to keep him.

Yes, I know, but I don't think that the first stray with pretty, gold cat eyes would appreciate the label. Comparing your husband to a cat is a new one, though.[Alec, you're just making it too easy for her to tease you. And she'd never pass up the opportunity, especially since it's not a serious conversation. Though, Izzy can't complain about the strays her brother has brought into the family either.

Magnus was a great addition. And the cat, well, he is cute. So, Iz can't complain overly much.]
And nobody is surprised by that, least of all me. [Jace is probably the only person that might know Alec better.]

I won't complain, he is cute and he seems sweet. Just keep him away from my closet and I think I can live with our new furry friend. Deal?

He doesn't run around comparing himself to a cat either, Alec. But maybe he won't mind. The stray part might make it a bit worse, though. [Though, technically, that is sort of what Alec does. Jace was a stray and he really brought him into the fold. Then Magnus. And now the furball.

It's not the longest track record, but it is a pattern.]
I'm sure. Magnus makes good friends. I suppose a kitten makes for a fair distraction, at least. And obviously Max'll love him.

[It isn't that Izzy doesn't like animals. She likes them just fine. She just has some different interests that fall ahead of pet ownership.] Yet being the key word there, he has claws and that's what they're for. Magnus does understand the attachment to clothing that I have, though. So, you have a point there. But you made the deal so I'm holding you to it.

Nice try, Alec, but you don't quite fit the necessary criteria. You're more like a purebred with a purpose to go with the cat analogy we've got going on here. [And it isn't her saying something about Magnus; if there's one person in the house that kind of adores Magnus, outside of Alec, it's her. She's realistic, though. And Alec doesn't quite fit the mold of stray.

He's a Lightwood, after all.]
Magnus, though, is one of the best people you've dragged in close. Jace might give him a little run for his money, but I am partial to his fashion sense and appreciation for your's truly. [She's kidding. A little bit.]

Everyone needs a distraction occasionally. A cute fuzzball does make for a good one after a long day, or whatever! [It's flippant. For a reason. There isn't a deeper meaning behind what she's saying, really. A pet is a distraction from the normal woes of every day. Or, at least, she supposes it is, anyway.

She's still working on embracing this place, and the normalcy, but she's been getting there.]
I love teasing you, big brother. Though, you can't say for sure he won't wind up clawing. [Izzy just can't quit!] I'll keep you to that, though I'm also vigilant about guarding my beloved closet too.

[The differences still sometimes catch Izzy off-guard, but they don't really make for any drastic changes in the way that she feels about any of her family members here with her. Or her outlook in general. Alec, while looked down on even at home, is amazing and Izzy has never seen him as anything but.] Who said I was going off of the Clave's vision of anybody? They're a bunch of stubborn, old-fashioned idiots who are pretty behind the times. [Yep. She said that.] Honestly, though, neither you or Magnus are actually strays, why don't we settle on that? Because you both have far too much family to qualify. [Yep, steering away from that conversation is probably for the best.]

I'm not that bad, Alec! [Even she knows that's a lie as that spills from her mouth, though. If she didn't like her brother's spouse it wouldn't make for a very harmonious life...that's for sure.] I'm just free with my opinion. I'm the sweetest Lightwood sibling. [Sometimes, anyway. Actually that might be Max, to tell truth, but now she's just in the playful argumentative mode. A little bit.]

They're still there, if we all decide to ever go home. [She's not sure that's actually helpful, so onward.] I don't think making yourself a scratching post is a particularly good idea, for the record, but if you're determined at least get an ugly sweater for the kitten to destroy instead of your skin?
