[Normally, Alec wouldn't broadcast video to whoever had their phone on, but he needs to ask as many people as possible about the friend he picked up while patrolling the night before. It takes him a few seconds for the camera to focus properly. When it does, Alec can be seen holding a very large tabby patterned ball of fluff.]
Did anyone lose a cat? I found him last night curled up in an alley. He looked like he'd been outside for a few days and is eating like he hasn't been fed regularly.
[He can't quite hide the disapproval in his tone. If someone did this to the poor cat intentionally, Alec is not going to be pleased.]
If he's yours, I'll return him. If not, my family would like to keep him.

[Smiling and leaning back, unashamed about his display of feline friendliness, he waves his hand to conjure a pen and paper to jot down some notes as they float beside him.] And would our knight in shining armor like me to bring anything home for him?
Consider it done. I cat-proof just about everything when I have one. I love the little dears, but I prefer my vintage furniture to be scratch-proof and potion ingredients un-spilled.

Me? [Sometimes it still surprises him that someone is attentive to his needs since he's always taken care of everyone else.] Uh - I think we're out of the chai tea that I hide in the back of the cupboard. I need to find a better place for it.
You can do all that without being in the apartment? [Alec had assumed that Magnus would have to be within a certain range of what he was casting spells on to make them work.]

Rather than asking about the cat, once again biting his tongue on the topic of misremembered pasts, he mimes the action of jotting down a note in the air that will actually appear on the shopping list that's hanging on the front of their fridge.] We'll have to glamour it so no one else can steal from our lovely little stash.
Hm? Oh, turn of phrase, sweetheart. I meant that I can handle it when I get home.

Shadowhunters can see through most glamours. [Not Magnus' better ones but he doubts that Magnus would use that much power just to glamour Alec's favorite tea.] Unless you're going to use the type you use on your eyes.
Oh. I wouldn't be surprised if you could cast a spell like that from a distance.

Humming, he shuffles some papers on his desk. He's now half focused on planning how to get as much done as possible as quickly as possible so he can join Alec at home.] I could use a similar type to disguise it, or one meant to redirect attention rather than making something invisible.
[He grins at that, loving the confidence Alec has in his magical abilities.] I could, but it takes more energy than it's worth. Besides, I need an excuse to come home early to greet our guest. And to see my favorite husband.

Holding the cat so that Magnus can see him.] What do you think, kitty? What color matches your fur?
You just want to show off your glamours. [But he did appreciate the effort and wanted to see what clever spell his husband came up with.]
I don't want you using too much energy. I can keep an eye on our furry guest so that he doesn't shred Izzy's clothes. I don't want her to try to throw him out because he thinks her shoes look like a good place to sharpen his claws.
Hurry home. I've missed you and you need to meet... whatever his name is going to be.

He would look dashing with a streak of blue running through his tail.
[Is he serious? Teasing Alec? Maybe a bit of both.] No glitter on the nails, though, he might hurt himself trying to clean it off.
There's always the option of closing her door, darling.
[Magnus can't help smiling at how sweet Alec is. Even if it's something as simple as missing each other while they're at work, it reminds Magnus of how close they are and how strong their love is.] I miss you, too, my angel. I'll be some as soon as I check in with the staff and can find some food for our guest.

When did a closed door ever stop the Chairman? [Sometimes he'd considered using locking runes to keep their overly curious cat from sneaking in when the two of them wanted time alone.]
[The cat bats at the phone while Alec's distracted by Magnus' smile. He knows his expression is the type that Izzy always rolled her eyes about saying they were one of those annoyingly sweet couples, but he doesn't care. Magnus makes him happier than he'd ever thought could be possible.]
If you want to head home right away, I don't think he'll mind whatever Jace can find for him. He's probably trying to figure out how to make cat food and baking treats for our new friend.
