[You can tell from the moment Thor's face appears on camera, he's been through hell and back. His hair is almost entirely buzzed down, save for the tufts on top, with markings shaved into the sides. His eye is covered by a black patch, indicating an injury that he isn't happy to talk about.]

I've made some changes. [Bluntly, as if he consented to any of this.]

What else.. Some things have happened at home that may be of interest to some of you. [He hums, considering.] Odin is dead. I have another sister? Her name is Hela. Mjolnir is destroyed. Banner is alive. [He feels a little guilty revealing that one, but he thinks someone deserves to know.] I fought the Hulk. I won. I met a real, live Valkyrie- And Asgard is.. [A people, not a place, but..] The realm has been destroyed. My people are seeking refuge, I suppose I understand now what displacement feels like.

I have the remains of Asgard in a ship, floating through space. If a portal could open for them, that would be extremely useful to me right now. I'm a king with no land or people, now. Very poetic. [Does he seem terse? He's kind of tense.


And then Loki comes barging in, looking very much the same and carrying a large parchment. He glances at the recording with a frown. He places the map of Earth on the wall, pinning it with a single dagger.]

Must you reveal everything? Put that away, I have work for you.

[Where does she even start with this? His dead father? His sister? The hammer being destroyed or Asgard? Or there's Banner...the fact that he's a king now or that he has the weight of his entire kingdom and their future on his shoulders?

Or the fact that he's missing an eye now?]

What can I do?

There's not a lot anyone can do from here. Maybe we could write persuasive letters to whoever runs this place about bringing Asgard here.

[He doesn't sound like he thinks it will work, but it won't stop him.]

I ought to thank you for what you've already done, anyway.

I'm sure they'd be willing to try, even if they can't entirely control the portal...but what do you have to thank me for?

[She's pretty sure she had no part in any of what he talked about.]

You gave me visions, when we were fighting on opposite sides. As it turns out, they gave me a head start.

I'm greatful for it, even if it was probably not your intention.

[divulsion]

[Wanda still keeps most of her other abilities on the down-low here in Riverview, but she won't make a big deal of that now. Instead, she gives him a nod.]

It wasn't back then but I'm glad that it turned out to be in your favor in the end. Even if the ultimate outcome was...

[She doesn't even need to say it, does she?]

I'm sorry. To hear what happened.

I'm alive, Loki is alive, Banner is- or at least the Hulk is alive. [His expression changes, like he forgot to consider that.] What remains of Asgard is very much alive. It could be much worse.

[divulsion]

Yes, it could.

[She gives him a faint smile, remembering today of course of how much worse it had been when they'd lost Novi Grad. How she'd lost Pietro that same day.]

In the end it's the people that make the home, isn't it? I'll do whatever I can to help you see them placed somewhere safe to rebuild.

Yes, exactly. Buildings are just buildings, they can be rebuilt. When your people are gone, there's nothing.

[He considers.] Unless you can repopulate. Then I'd really have my work cut out for me.

[divulsion]

Yes, when your people are gone there are only memories left to sustain you...

[She gives him a wry smile.]

I'm glad that you don't have to single-handedly repopulate your people, however. Have you considered reaching out to the local government about your predicament at this point? Perhaps they could make managing the portal a higher priority to get your people here?

[worldsaway]

I considered seeking an audience with them, but Loki is skeptical about what will come of it. Admittedly, there's not much faith to be had when they still don't seem to understand why we're here.

[Riverview is a good and peaceful place, but the portals do worry him.]

[divulsion]

We are all rather more an exception to the rule than anything else when it comes to people who pass through the portal, it's true.

[worldsaway]

I'll find a way to speak with them all the same, but I won't get my hopes up. [He sounds extremely tired.]

[divulsion]

[And she's noticing that.]

Do you want to come over? I have a pot full of stew that ought to be ready in half an hour or so. I could use some help eating it.

[When in doubt, feed the Asgardian. Home cooking helps soothe the soul, doesn't it?]

[ Hmm. His gaze flickers over her thoughtfully before moving on. ]

Which one of your countries has a decent foreign policy? I'm assuming the United States does not in any way or fashion.

[divulsion]

[Wanda hasn't actually spoken to this version of Loki before. She's spoken to the other Loki before, find him much easier to get along with than she'd anticipated, but for the most part she's avoided the one from her world.

Now she finds him addressing her and...as he and Thor seem to be on the same side for the moment decides to proceed carefully.]

I would not set your sights on the United States right now, no. Especially not in light of recent happenings on Earth. [Has Thor mentioned that half of the Avengers are on the run? And that likely they'll find it harder to get a welcome because of what transpired?] I would look to Northern Europe first.

[dothelokimotion]

[ Europe. No doubt Thor will want to settle in Norway. ]

And what happened on Earth? Surely not another robot invasion caused by Stark?

[divulsion]

[Wanda bristles a little. The reminder of the robot invasion is not one that she welcomes.]

No, not that. International politics spiraling out of control. [Don't make her go into specifics. Please.] None of it matters right now, however. Are you and Thor intent on moving your people to Earth or here?

[dothelokimotion]

Thor is. I am still undecided.

[ For obvious reasons. But Thor is king and Loki is . . . here for now. ]

[divulsion]

[The reasons aren't quite so obvious to Wanda.]

Would you act differently?

[dothelokimotion]

[ He blinks, his words being weighed before answering. ]

Perhaps. There are Eight other realms. Though only five are truly suitable.

[ Jotunheim and a few other notable mentions were no place for the last remains of the Asgardians people. ]

Earth, I find, is always in a constant state of flux. Which brings its suitability in question.

[divulsion]

Normally I might argue a case for Earth's suitability but it may be difficult to find a welcome there in light of the recent climate. You might talk to Thor about the other five realms, or here.

[And if things go terribly on Earth she may find herself asking Thor whether he'd like a teammate as a subject of his kingdom.]

[dothelokimotion]

[ He shrugs. ]

Or I'll find ourselves an island and put up a nice strong illusion over it.

[divulsion]

What purpose would the illusion provide?

[She can think of a few reasons, hypothetically, but she wants to hear it from him.]

Hiding us from humanity. From there, we can rebuild in peace.

And once you've rebuilt? Will you leave the illusion as it stands?
