[You can tell from the moment Thor's face appears on camera, he's been through hell and back. His hair is almost entirely buzzed down, save for the tufts on top, with markings shaved into the sides. His eye is covered by a black patch, indicating an injury that he isn't happy to talk about.]

I've made some changes. [Bluntly, as if he consented to any of this.]

What else.. Some things have happened at home that may be of interest to some of you. [He hums, considering.] Odin is dead. I have another sister? Her name is Hela. Mjolnir is destroyed. Banner is alive. [He feels a little guilty revealing that one, but he thinks someone deserves to know.] I fought the Hulk. I won. I met a real, live Valkyrie- And Asgard is.. [A people, not a place, but..] The realm has been destroyed. My people are seeking refuge, I suppose I understand now what displacement feels like.

I have the remains of Asgard in a ship, floating through space. If a portal could open for them, that would be extremely useful to me right now. I'm a king with no land or people, now. Very poetic. [Does he seem terse? He's kind of tense.

And then Loki comes barging in, looking very much the same and carrying a large parchment. He glances at the recording with a frown. He places the map of Earth on the wall, pinning it with a single dagger.]

Must you reveal everything? Put that away, I have work for you.

Personally, I simply want to avoid Asgard being close to the Avengers.

[ In case Tony starts another robot invasion or whatever it is Tony does. ]

They don't go away, you know.

[ You got a nice pipe dream there, twin. ]

You wouldn't go to Alfheim in the spirit of, 'I'll simply avoid all the elves'.

[ He's well aware, but the more distance he can put out, the better. Loki has always been excellent at denial. ]

Alfheim would have been my choice, but Thor wants to go to Earth.

[ And Loki is coming along, which makes him antsy. Not that he doesn't think he can handle himself, but it is added stress he does not need. He washed his hands off Earth. And the idea that it might be their new home is grating. ]

Naturally. [ Of course Thor opts for Midgard and Loki is reluctant. ] If you get a chance, visit Manhattan.

[ Flat. ]

I blew up Manhattan.

Then wear a hat.

[ This is close to a sulk. ]

At least you're not offering condolences.

Condolences are what people offer when they have nothing else of worth to pitch in, I'm trying to be useful. [ Cocking his head, he taps his chin. ] Anthony assisted in rebuilding Asgard and getting it into space, it may be worth talking to your Stark about that.

So I've heard.

[ But it makes his skin itch. Having mortals rebuild Asgard — to touch the Realm Eternal in any form. ]

But Asgard is gone. There is nothing left to rebuild.

Thor may have had an advantage in my dimension, he was a son of Gaea and raised a new city out of the very earth. It was big enough for the remainder of our people. Anyway, that city crumbled during a battle and Stark assisted in the creation of a new Asgard.

[ Clearing his throat. Never mentioned this before, but now it seems pertinent, he would be remiss to stay silent. ]

Thor can search for souls. Resurrect the almost-dead, in a way ...

No.

[ The reaction is violent and sharp. Loki barely manages to curb it back. He straightens with a jerk, a man on puppet strings. After seeing what Hela could do, the idea that Thor has the same power is anathema to him. That is a connection better crushed into the dust. Loki holds no hate for his sister, but her presence loomed over them like a cloud, full of questions Loki wants no answers for. ]

The Eternal Flame is gone and Thor has no such power.

It has to do with his lightning.

[ The snapping draws out a calmer tone of his own. ]

When Asgardians died during our Ragnarok their souls were strong enough to hide within the bodies of various mortals. Thor split them, freed them, and they returned to us. I came back that way, once.

It's worth looking into, is all I'm saying.

[ Possibly. A part of him likes the idea, of seeing Frigga again. Maybe even his father. Loki might even tolerate seeing the Warriors Three again. But it is a temptation and a dangerous one. There is no law that says the same powers are bestowed upon Thor. Or that they would have the same result. That moment of yearning makes his heart ache and he turns his gaze away. ]

It is Thor's decision. Not mine.

Silly question, did you cause Ragnarok?

Yes.

[ But because his twin would have another idea in his head, Loki actually clarifies. For anyone else, Loki would not care. ]

But not in the manner of the past Loki.

I guessed as much, you aren't beheaded. You know I'm curious about it, the way things did actually go down.

[ How can he not be. ]

[ Loki hesitates, glancing at Thor off-screen before replying. ]

It was the only way to stop Hela. I did it at Thor's behest.

[Awkward thumbs up.]

[ Loki throws a pen at Thor. ]

People don't need to know that part though. I did it. It's good enough for them.

[Thor just lets the pen bounce off his forehead.]

Are you trying to protect me?

Don't be absurd. I simply play the part better. Besides, it's the truth. Aren't heroes upholders of the truth?

[ And Thor has enough guilt. This makes both their lives easier. ]

And kings should stand by their decisions.

[Thor shakes his head.] You were the one who almost lead us to destruction, but I won't let anyone forget that you saved us.

[ Loki swallows tightly at that. Another bitter pill to swallow and not one he wants to confront right now. ]

As if I'd let anyone forget it.

[It's kind of the elephant in the room between them right now, but it's one of the many things Thor would rather keep to himself than share around.]

Nobody else really knows what happened, it's between us.

[ For how long? ]

I can handle it.
