[Eddie appears on the screen with a bright smile and a red sweatshirt printed with a white snowflake motif.]
Hey guys! Happy Hygge! I think that's what they say, anyway...so...
[He waves his hand, leans in a bit, still grinning.]
I've been here for almost a year now, and I've gotten pretty settled in. This place is really starting to feel like home. But I know it isn't like that for a lot of people. Some people are new and haven't had time to settle in, some people are struggling, especially after October was so rough for a lot of us. Anyway, so hearing about Hygge gave me an idea.
[Taking a deep breath, he squares his shoulders and his smile softens a bit.]
This morning I got approval, and a pretty decent donation, from the Police Department where I work, to fund a furnished Hygge cabin for a week to offer a place for anyone who's feeling displaced, or is struggling or lonely, to come hang out with other people who don't have family here yet. Just a place to feel at home.
I'm just posting this to look for some volunteers to help out with the shopping and cooking and prep over the next week or so, and set dates that would work for anyone who wants to help? I was personally thinking maybe the week of the tenth.
[A pause, and another little smile, this time a bit mischievous.]
Just a shout out to my fellow Detectives, Officers, Forensics Teams, and anyone else who works at the RPD. I put up an info page and sign up sheet in the lunch rooms at the station just before I left today, but if you want to chime in here with ideas or anything, let's talk!

Bud.
Pal.
My guy.
Why are you so light what the hell
Without my armor I could throw you across a room
Wow
no subject
You could not.
no subject
I can't even with you
I definitely could. Get a mattress to land on and I'll show you
no subject
Fine.
no subject
I have great aim, but we'll put a helmet on you just in case.
no subject
I'd do weight training if you wanted to though. I've been kind of thinking about upping my game lately.
Sure thing, South.
no subject
You have a lot of up to go, we better get started last month
Just you wait and see, it's going to be equal parts fun and terrifying for you.
no subject
Ouch. And that's why I don't like you more!
I'm looking forward to it. You know I like a challenge.
no subject
And I don't believe you here, okay, once you like me, there's no unliking me. It's a law.
You just like me kicking your ass at these challenges!
no subject
And maybe I do, maybe I don't. But I definitely prefer kicking YOUR ass to getting mine kicked.
no subject
Well, when that happens, I guess we'll know for sure which you prefer.

the only difficulty i think you might have is the kinda people who are isolated and struggling might be inclined to hide it
you think i should like, idk
wander around, see if anybody seems at loose ends
give out more personal invitations?
or will that just come off as creepy/intrusive?
text | private
And if anyone could do that without seeming creepy or intrusive, it'd be you.

when i met her she was all on her own because she didn't trust anybody, didn't participate in stuff because everybody was a stranger.
i'll keep an eye out for anybody who seems blue and on their own
i figure it can't hurt.
& i think you're overestimating my harmlessness and charm.
no subject
And I'm not. You're perfectly charming. And warm and welcoming.

people have a hard time admitting when they're lonely, or need help.
[ Something that Cisco knows the two of them know all too well. ]
well, you have to think that, you're my boyfriend.
duh.
no subject
You've got it backwards. I'm your boyfriend BECAUSE I think so.

[He pauses for a moment before continuing.]
That's very kind of you, the cabin idea that is, but...intimidating. Have you ever, how do they say it, felt alone in a crowded room?
no subject
Yeah. I know some people say that coming here was a mistake, that they shouldn't have been brought here, but it wasn't that way for me. I've kind of got extenuating circumstances, though.
[The smile gets a bit more sad as he hears that question.]
Oh yes, believe me. Pretty much my whole life. That's kind of why I wanted to do something like this. I was kind of hoping I could help with that.
no subject
[Between his responsibilities, and that little saving the world thing...]
I...can empathize. I suspect it may be responsible for my appearance here in the first place. [And Eddie gets a chuckle, but a light-hearted one. He's not being mean-spirited with his response.] Why, there are a lot of people here who are awkward, lonely, and isolated. Let's throw them in a box and let them be awkward, lonely and isolated together! [He chuckles again, and breathes an amused sigh before explaining.] Again, noble, to be sure, but...misguided, perhaps. Overzealous? Well-intended, certainly. Alas, aside from a devilishly potent fashion sense, I have little to provide...unless you'd like to serve a poorly-roasted rabbit.
[But that doesn't mean he isn't willing to help. And he may or may not be one of those lonely, isolated people.]
no subject
[A little smile, though, and when Dorian says that last bit, he laughs, shaking his head.]
I can't tell if you mean me or the portal, but you're right either way. Overzealous and well-intended are kind of my middle names. And I'm sure you could provide something.
[A little smile, earnest and genuine and certainly both overzealous and well-intended.]
Everyone's got something to offer.
@d.pavus; video (because just hitting reply is easier, working or no)
[Mischief dances in his eyes as he laughs.] I suppose I'll go with both, considering. [Though he looks thoughtful, stroking his goatee before rolling his shoulder in a shrug.] Well, I am rather charming and witty. I suppose I could offer to help set the other visitors at ease.
[And smooth, like the way he just sort of said he'd go...not that he's lonely and looking forward to it. Nope. He's helping, alright.]
Am I to assume your name is "Eddie", as the tag name implies? [He's still getting used to this whole social media thing.]
no subject
There I go, making things awkward again. Sorry about that.
[Shaking his head a bit, he shrugs.]
Thanks, by the way, for saying it suits me. Being alive. I don't think anyone's really said that to me before.
[Another laugh, this time at his own dumb joke, before he's grinning.]
I think you'd be great at that. I mean, you've already got me totally at ease and we've only been talking for what, five minutes?
[His expression takes on a bit of mischief, eyes bright.]
You're definitely hired. And yeah, my name's Eddie Thawne. Pleased to meet you...
[The end draws upward, leading.]
no subject
And it suits you rather well, Eddie. You have a rather disarming smile. If it were lost, the Quarantine would be poorer for it.
[He chuckles.] Yes, well, I grew up at soirees, political banquets, and fetes. I believe I've heard it referred to as "schmoozing" or something similar in the alien vernacular. I've had quite a bit of practice.
no subject
[A little grin, at least until Dorian comments on his smile, and then he laughs, a little self-deprecating.]
Wow, I think that's going a little too far. I get it, though, about the political stuff, and the parties. My dad was a politician, so I grew up around that kind of thing. Difference is, I've never been very good at the schmoozing thing.
no subject
Naturally, and you clearly underestimate the potency of that smile, but humility can be an attractive trait. [And he chuckles.] Or so they say. It gives you quite a lot of clout in more pious circles, I'm told, but modesty has never been for me.
Ah, yes, well, you do have a more...Everyman feel to you. It makes you a good policeman, I'm sure. As it happens, I'll be filling my father's role in the Magisterium, the...Imperial Senate, as it were, so it serves well I am good at it, at least until someone sees fit to have me assassinated. [And it's spoken in that sort of nonchalant way that leaves it difficult to discern whether or not he's joking.] Personally, I'd much rather barter with wine or a nice mulled cider. [He taps his chin thoughtfully.] You should have that, at this cabin that is.
no subject
Wow. Okay. That's definitely going overboard, but. Sure.
[He might be cute now, but he didn't grow up cute and he's still not quite adjusted to compliments, doesn't assume his own attractiveness levels.]
Yeah. I like connecting with people, I like hearing their stories and everything, but I'm not good at charming people to an end. There's nothing wrong with it, just not my strength.
[A pause, and his blue eyes go abruptly very wide.]
Wait, assassinated? People do that that often where you come from? Oh man. I'm sorry.
[He doesn't really know what to say, and he shakes his head a bit, licks his lips nervously.]
And yeah, wine and mulled cider sound perfect for a nice warm cabin. Maybe some Bailey's for the hot chocolate.
no subject
[He chuckles.] Of course. It isn't a good party without a bit of death.
[Now, whether or not he's being serious is anyone's guess.]
But I'll refrain in light of the season. [And maybe he was kidding...?] I'm not sure what this "Bailey's" is, but there are few things that could improve on hot chocolate.
[He's grown a fondness for it, alright.]
no subject
Wow. If there was any murder at my parents' parties, it was usually someone's reputation that died.
[A little smile, and he shakes his head a bit.]
Bailey's. It's a mixture of whiskey, cream, and sugar. One of the very few things that could improve on hot chocolate.
no subject
[He pauses for a moment, eyes looking away thoughtfully, and he strokes the small patch of hair on his chin as though trying to imagine this concoction. After a moment, he looks back to the camera.]
By whiskey, I assume you mean something stout? Like a dwarven spirit or, at the very least, something Ferelden? Ah...the potent drink, made to be taken in small amounts or mixed in something else, as well as to keep you warm? [He doesn't wait for a response before he nods.] I quite agree it would be an improvement. You should see to it Bailey's is also on the menu.
yikes this is late sorry
Maybe we didn't grow up as differently as I thought.
[And when Dorian asks about what whiskey is, Eddie grins at him.]
I don't know what Ferelden is, but I'm guessing dwarven is strong. Yeah, whiskey is exactly like that, taken just a bit at a time or mixed with something that compliments the flavour. I will absolutely make sure Bailey's is on the menu. If you've never had it, you've really got to try it.
