[When Yu arrived, he barely had a chance to get his bearings before being tossed into whole orientation thing, the job, his living situation and everything that's been going on. He was taken to the address where he was situated in these dire(?) circumstances. He didn't mind communal living. In fact- he wished he could've lived with his friends like this back in Inaba. All in one place, chatting whole day and night.
But... he thought it was slightly unbecoming of him to just completely pass out after drinking his tea and having small chat with Ed. So, today, he had different agenda in mind.
Yu remembered seeing a convenience store on his way here, relatively close, so he took a small shopping trip. Mooching off of his floormates is not nice. And then he spent the morning cooking. Or rather, baking.
While the treats are in the oven, he turned on the video feed.]
So... I've never done anything like this before. It's all new for me. [A pause.] I want to apologize to the people that live on 6th floor, I didn't properly greet them when I arrived, [he scratched back of his head.] I think I was a bit too overwhelmed after the arrival so I was out of it until this morning. So yeah, hi! I'm Yu Narukami. I'm very pleased to meet you all!
[Later, there is a text and picture update on what he was preparing]
This batch turned out really well 🍪 🍪 🍪
[action: He's on the sixth floor of the building in the afternoon, lingering around in the kitchen and entertainment area. Mostly pondering on things that are going on in his life right now. If he's staring blankly at one spot- don't worry, he's not crazy. He's just sifting through his personas. Feel free to chat with him!]

Is it really that bad? One of my friends back home likes mint chocolate.
...maybe that's what turned curry into Mystery Food X

If you don't know what those are, they're basically military happy meals. Without the surprise toy. And they make you sad.

Do you have to eat MRE often? Or rather- here?
no subject
MREs are handy in the field, and as emergency rations. If I'm on an overnight mission I might crack one open, but otherwise? I'd rather eat real food. Or not eat at all.
I know a guy who eats them like candy bars, but he's got... issues.

Well, I suppose it is better than nothing when it is an emergency.
no subject
And it depends. Some MREs are so bad you’re better off not eating them. Anything vegetarian is a guaranteed sick day.
Then you've got the unlucky ones.

Is there a way to prepare food similar to MRE? Something that can last for longer but doesn't end up tasting bad?
no subject
Sort of. Jerky, nuts, freeze-dried fruits and stuff like that. Problem is carrying enough of to live on for months at a time, and keeping it dry. There's also MCW, LRP, MORE... All in the MRE family, but usually less offensive. If only because they taste like nothing.
I'm a fan of the first-strike category of MORE myself. It's just a nutrient dense bar. Packs light, easy to eat on the go.
All this ration talk is making fresh baked cookies sound better and better.

[And he'll be probably stationed at support center so he'll have time.]
Freshly made food is always the best. I lived by myself for long periods from time to time so I don't mind lending people a hand with cooking.

That said, the PG is tiny. You could be onto something. There’s no reason our chow has to suck.

I will try my best to come up with something, but I don't think I can do much on my own.

I'll volunteer to taste test, providing there's no Mystery or X involved.

Of course. Do not worry, compared to my friend, I know what I'm doing :)

My pal and I will swing by with the goods. Get ready to work your cookie magic.
