I'll keep this short... (She tries to sound in-charge. Tough. But it all comes out...shy.) My name is Lightning and I'm a new member of the Perimeter Guard. I have combat experience. (A lot of it.) So if you're in a tight spot, just give me a call.
(There. Is that...a decent intro? It's certainly dry. She shifts and crosses her arms over her chest.)
I mean it. I know that might seem like a strange promise from someone who doesn't know you, but that doesn't matter to me. I will protect you. I'm...just built that way now.
(After seeing one world end... After harvesting souls... Yeah. She can't say no to anyone in trouble.)
Hello.

Hello.
Video - UN: lolococo416
That's nice to be so interested in protecting people, but...
Okay, first, cool name.
But more importantly is there anything you'd like to do for fun? Like, you can't spend all your time protecting people.
Video
I didn't know fun was an option? When you don't know anyone and you're put on guard, it's hard to relax.
no subject
And it's definitely good to get to know folks off duty, when things are less... dire and weird.
I wouldn't wanna live here if fun wasn't an option.
no subject
(All work and no play etc..)
Define "dire and weird".

*Lola is so soft and fluffy about people.*
Um, the acid rain thing was really bad. But that wasn't really a guard issue. So I guess the plants attacking the wall was bad? I'm not a guard, so you'd have better luck asking them for stories.
I'm Lola.
no subject
I'll do that. Thank you, Lola. (She moves just enough to show that she is in pedestrian clothes. They are more comfortable - and they are what she arrived wearing.)
Anyone figure out what caused the rain?
no subject
So... you still haven't answered what you like to do for fun.
no subject
(She falls quiet, considering.)
I like to read. I don't mind going out if it's not too loud. I guess...I don't know? I haven't really had fun in a long time.
no subject
*Which isn't Lola's bag.*
That... is really sad. Not having fun in a long time.
But at least given the sorta place this is there gotta be lots of books you've never heard of that you can read! And with things going on in the abandoned city again soon there should be quiet places other than libraries and some of the fancier restaurants.
no subject
I had other things on my mind. (Like trying to save her sister, fighting gods, allying gods and watching the world end. Or...her world end anyway.)
I'll strain my eyes with all the books. (But she won't be complaining!) What do you like to do for fun? Somehow I don't think quiet places and libraries suit you.
no subject
*Lola beamed at that accusation, because it was true. And she wouldn't want to be any other way.*
I like cooking, trying new foods, and usually I go dancing if I want to really cut loose.
no subject
(There was no ignoring it or passing it by.)
Dancing, huh? Is there a place to dance? A club?
no subject
*Lola's just a kid from Toronto, what does she know.*
A couple dozen, there are four I really like. But they just suit the kind of dancing I like. The stuff with a lot of energy and fun to it.
no subject
(She smiles at the advice nonetheless. Lola isn't wrong.)
I know better now. I know I need to look after myself; I'm not just meant to serve or protect.
(While this might be outside of her comfort zone -)
When are you free?
no subject
Um... Classes are kinda shut down due to the winter, so I got most afternoons free. I've taken on mostly morning and the occasional dinner shift. Why?
*Lola is usually better at this.*
no subject
I thought we could try dancing or going to the clubs you mentioned.
no subject
I'm just a waitress, and people really like me so it gets easier to just shift around my schedule.
*Lola hasn't had lots of chances to girlfriend it up lately so she is totally down.*

because that was when she would go home to Serah.)video - UN: miroku
[He smiles easily, and his voice is bright enough to make up for her semi-shyness. It's a little strange to talk over this thing like this. He's done video conferencing before, but it's always been professional.
...Then again, most of what he's done in his life has been professional, not personal. That's a whole new thing to get used to.]
That's a great offer.
If you ever need help -- I don't know if you will, but if a job's too big for one person or you just need to call in someone -- I used to be part of a protection service, so I'm happy to assist as well.
video
I know my way around...guarding. I wouldn't want someone to not call for help just because they didn't know anyone.
(Nodding, she gives a soft smile.) Thank you. I hope you'll do the same?
video
What about you?
[He might still be working on it, but that was no reason not to make sure the offer was mutual. If she was going to offer to help anyone, she deserved to have the sentiment returned sincerely.]
video
(It's sort of hard to like anywhere when you come from this.)
video; @cphantom
[Okay, he has a few people assuring him they'd protect him, people not from home.]
I would have started with the 'hello.'
video
(She can act that way too.
For a little while.)Too bad.
video
[Besides, if he ever ventures out, he'll probably be with Undertaker. And he's plenty in terms of protection.]
Just a bit of friendly advice.
video
(He looks young and she has heard about the jungle.)
No, it was you being sarcastic, but thank you.
video
[He's fifteen, thank you. Gosh.]
Believe it or not, I don't make a habit of wasting effort on sarcasm too often.
video
You shouldn't. Good sarcasm is hard to come by.
video
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
no subject
[But this is the kid that swore to protect a city he just moved into because his Father does it. So he's not the best judge on strange, but "Built that way"?]
Are you, actually built for fighting?
[Because again... he gets that.]
no subject
I...might be? I've done a lot of it. Where I was before I came here, there was no reason for it anymore.
(Thanks to all the fighting that happened before.)
video; (Cuz forgot to say!)
[The small teen gives a shrug. Okay, so she wasn't literally built for fighting. He supposed this is what Todd meant about him taking words too literally. He'll have to work on that.]
...Now that phrasing is weird. You fought a lot in your world, but it wasn't needed?
[You're starting to sound like a hoodlum, Lightning.]
video; (No prob!)
Not anymore. She had been when she had been doing the will of the gods. Now she's just a normal woman
albeit extremely athletic.)I've known two worlds. The first one required me to fight a lot. The second doesn't.
video;
[He nods. Yes, this is a much more acceptable answer.]
Why the name Lightning? Do you have electric based powers?
[Or maybe Lightning is something different in her world?]
video;
I was military trained and good at my job, but I didn't have any powers when I decided on the name.
video;
video;
video;
[He might be projecting here a little but he just might be onto something?]
What's your real name?
video;
(Just not in the sense that she considers herself destructive.)
Claire Farron.
video;
[He honestly couldn't say, but he supposed it made sense in a way?]
Claire. That's a pretty pedestrian name. You're right to stick with Lightning.
[Yes, definitely the right choice. Of this he is certain.]
video;
I didn't choose it. And...I don't mind it.
(It's one of the only pieces she has left of her parents.)
video;
But you did choose to go by Lightning because you found the name more suitable than Claire.
[Make up your mind lady!]
video; @crimson.duelist
[ But he appreciates her sincerity, and offers a sincere smile in return. ]
Hello Lightning. My name is X'rhun Tia, and I am a member of the guard as well. A pleasure to meet you.
video
Nice to meet you too, X'rhun Tia. What have you had to deal with so far? Have there been any casualties?
no subject
[ He cants his head a bit, considering. ]
No casualties that I have been aware of. You'll find many people here are quite capable, even if they are not a member of the guard themselves. That said, the jungle is still rife with danger. Carnivorous beasts, carnivorous plants. At least one cult.
It is not for the faint of heart, to be sure.
no subject
I can handle myself. I haven't met a monster or god yet that scared me stiff. (Then again, before, she hadn't felt much of anything. Ever. She needs time to adapt to her emotions again.) Is there a point to entering the jungle? Is it for supplies? Food?
