So everyone knows about alternate universes now. But have they seen any strange ones?

And I mean, strange like. Is your evil alternate twin running around here? Or a good looking one (but with a beard?)

I'm just kind of curious as to what people know about alternate universes and what they've noticed about them.

It happens. But I dunno if it happens a lot.

It sounds so risky. Anyone who's willing to do all that to help someone else must be a really selfless person.

It probably was a superhero. They're always doing stuff like that.

Wow! You have real superheroes in your world? What are they like?

They're like . . . superheroes. Y'know. Strong. Helpful. Kind.

Sounds about right, I guess. What about special powers?

[What? While he's never been really into comics like some people, he can't deny that seeing one in action up close would be pretty cool.]

Well, there's superstrength. Speed. Heat Vision. Ice breath.

Have you ever seen any of those in person?

We don't have anyone with powers like that back where I'm from, except in movies. There were a lot of stories about ninja where I grew up, though, and I didn't think those were real until recently. After all this, I know anything can be possible, even ninja, superheroes, and alternate universes.

I've seen Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

Wow, no one with powers? What's that like? Does nothing ever blow up?

[What very superhero-ish names! This is kind of exciting, even for him.]

I wish I knew who they were. I'm guessing they were really well known in your universe?

None that we know of. It'd be a big deal if anyone with powers were discovered back home. The world still has its problems, but usually the government and law enforcement handle those things.

That's cool too, I guess. A little hard to picture though.

Kind of like me with your world. I've started getting used to the idea since I was grabbed by the first portal, though.

You should tell me about those superheroes some time. I think it's really neat to hear what goes on in all these other worlds I didn't know of before.

That's OK. I don't know anything about them, so even basic information would be news to me.

How about this. There's probably a library in the city somewhere. I'll have a look around and see if I can find anything else about the portal or alternate realities there.

Yeah. It's cuz I'm young and my parents aren't here.

Well you were pretty knowledgeable about the alternate universes and portals. It's pretty hard to tell when it feels like there's a whole lot that I don't know about this kind of thing.
