So, being genderfluid means that sometimes I'm female and sometimes I'm male. My body doesn't always match my gender, though, so it's a good idea to ask if you're not sure.

Aw, thanks boo. [ he blows ivar a kiss. ] Honestly, I'm surprised, though. Most guys from your time are a little weird about people like me.

I'm not going to lie and say it doesn't seem odd to me.

[It's a lot for him to wrap his Dark Ages mind around. The Norse don't have a lot of things to go on regarding things like gender fluidity in their culture. Most of all what they focus on above anything is who tends to be dominant versus whose not, not only in relationships, but in all aspects of their lives. It's like a pack of wolves. You can be the alpha or the omega.]

But I've spent a lot of time here and seen a lot of strange things, including seeing your mother go back and forth between forms like she's breathing.

Yeah, it runs in the family, I guess. [ sometimes alex changes a couple of times in the space of a few hours or less. it just depends. ] Mom was mostly male back home, but he also had very female days, too. [ you know, back when alex thought he was going to be a good mother. ]

In Valhalla, it's easy to handle dumbfucks that call me argr. I just murder them a couple of times and they realize they have no idea what they're talking about.

[Ivar scowls as Alex tells of how people insulted him. That's one of the most serious insults in Norse culture, definitely worthy of being killed over. He sympathizes all too well.]

Norse are not known for their brains. They used to laugh at me all the time. Still do sometimes. But not for long.

[Ivar doesn't stand for those who mock him to last very long, Dodger being the only exception. His brother Ubbe had once said the only way to live long around him was to learn to fear and respect him.]

It was a steep learning period. Everything was shocking at first. But after the shock wore off, I just started accepting things.
