[ when the feed opens up, it is to a small black cat with heterochromia (one eye brown, the other a bright gold). depending on where you live, he might even be a familiar black cat. ]

Hey. [ oh and he talks. ] Figured I should get this out of the way, since I'm.. here, I guess, for the time being. [ an ear flicks, and he settles, getting comfortable and crossing his paws. ] Anyway, I'm Alex, and I got here.. recently. [ alex fierro: he of the frustratingly vague and casually suspicious nature. ] Norse demigod here, so if one of you Asgardian lot feels some strange seidr on the air or whatever, hi, that's me.

[ he blinks mildly, head tilting as he considers the video feed. what else, what else.. oh! ]

What prompted this introduction?

I wanted to go ahead and get it out of the way. Why? Shouldn't I have? I didn't mention you. [ you know, if loki's trying to keep it under wraps. not like it would take a genius to figure out who alex's mom is, but-- ]

No, I was merely curious.

[ Loki never understood the need for introductions. But that's mostly because he's fairly well known. ]

It's probably for the best that I'm not mentioned. I rather not make your time here difficult.

[ 'fairly' well known.. ]

I'm not worried about people knowing you're my mom. .. A version of my mom. I didn't hide it at home, and if it's not a big deal for you, I don't intend to hide it here. People who're going to be dicks will find a reason to be dicks, and I don't waste my time on them.

[ Shh. ]

[ He . . . doesn't think anyway. This is very very new territory for him. ]

[ he reaches out, patting the camera with a kitty paw as if he's reaching out to loki. when the view clears again, he's flopped onto his side, tail swishing lazily. ]

Maybe give it some thought. I don't want you to feel.. pressured, I guess? Or to make things weird for your friends or lovers or-- other people you know here.

[ With a touch of wryness. ]

Making things weird is part of my charm.

[ if he could laugh right now, he definitely would. as it is, he still manages to somehow convey amusement. ] Yeah, sounds about right. I think it runs in the family, though-- I mean, consider most of my siblings.

[ but then he stills, ears pricking attentively. ] --About what?

[ Loki doesn't know. He's a fretful kind of person and he tends to see shadows more often than anything else. Some of that has lessened, but this is a fraught situation — one he's never had to navigate before. He wets his lips before saying so. ]

I don't know. This is unusual for me.

Well, I imagine so, if you haven't had kids at home.

[ it's probably still a lot to take in, that he's suddenly a parent to a child that's nearly an adult here. ]

And we're.. taking this slow, yeah?

[ He nods slowly. ]

--Angela? I've met her. [ a beat, perking up. ] She's a badass. [ basically the coolest tia he could have asked for???

and the brother.. his ears flatten back uncertainly. ] And.. Thor? [ ugh. maybe he's not so obnoxious here, though. ] Should I know this lover's name, or are we not there yet?

[ His lips twitch slightly. ]

You may. His name is Steve Rogers. In my reality, he is known as Captain America though he does not hail from it.

[ captain america, what... ]

Uh. That's a hel of a nickname. [ listen? he may not be into comics like magnus, but even he's heard of captain america.

.. right. probably no relation? ] So he exists in at least two realities?

[ Loki wouldn't be too surprised. ]

He does. Much like my other self and I.

I mean, it kind of makes sense that you exist across realities. You're a god, but you also kind of represent concepts? So that gets some leeway.

[ a beat, then: ] .. Okay, but I feel like I deserve the right as your kind-of-offspring to tell you if I think he's gross and you deserve better.

True, but we share more similarities than most.

[ Like the kids thing. ]

And I am sure you will like him. Very few people do not.

Just so you're aware, I'm incredibly contrary? But with a nickname like "Captain America", he must be all apple pie, hard work, and wholesome ethics. And while I'm far too cool for that sort of thing, normally speaking, I'm willing to make an exception.

[ His smile softens a little. ]

He is quite different from his image.

Yeah? Tell me about him, then. What's he like?

[ maybe he just wants to see that some version of his mom actually cares about his partner.. ]

At times? Far too stubborn for his own or anyone's good.

[ His tone is fond though. ]

He tends to sulk when he doesn't get his way. He struggles to see anything differently, preferring a very linear outlook. And he never seems to want things for himself. All in all, Steve is a headache.

[ .. oh. shit, this is actually kind of.. cute? gross, he's never thought that about his mom. (there's a first time for everything.) ]

Sounds like a charmer. He seems to mean a lot to you, though.

Steve . . . has complete faith in me.

I've never known anything like it before.

Yeah, I guess that would be pretty intense. He's.. [ he trails off, ears flattening back a little uncertainly. ] He treats you good, right?

[ Loki blinks before smiling faintly. ]

I have yet to find reason to complain.
