[ When the video clicks on, Yuri is sitting back, frowning a little, one eye shadowed by the long fall of his blond hair, lips pursed thin. Sighing softly, he glances down, off screen for a moment, expression softening. Probably looking at one of the cats, before his gaze clips back up. He's propped up against the couch in his and Otabek's apartment, the sweater hanging off him obviously not one of his own. But what was the point of being boyfriends if you couldn't steal their comfy sweaters? ]

So. Awhile back, the portal people showed up at my door. [ His lips purse tighter still, something conflicted in his expression, before he shifts his grasp on his phone, the camera shaking and jostling appropriately as he switches from one hand to the other. When it settles again, Yuri has slumped even deeper into the couch, and Potya's ear can be seen in the lower corner of the camera's view, Yuri's free hand absently, softly stroking between her ears. ]

They said I could go home, and maybe it'll piss some people here off- but I said no. [ He scowls then, tilting his head back a little, as if just daring anyone to say shit about his decision. It was his, after all. ] It's not all bad here, I don't always understand all of the bitching and moaning and whining you people do about it. Nobody has turned up so much as a speck of evidence in the year I've been here to say there was anything malicious about our arrival, no one purposefully worked to kidnap us. So I think it's time some of you pulled that wad of knotted panties out of your ass and took off your tinfoil hats. Sometimes an inter-dimensional accident is just that, and not the plot to invasion of the body snatchers or some shit like that.

[ He rolls his visible eye, blowing out a breath and huffing his bangs back, giving a brief glimpse of the other, before his hair falls back into place. ]

So anyway. I'm curious- if you were told you could go home tomorrow... would you do it? Or would you stay a little while longer? Do you think I made a mistake?

[ Yuri stops petting Potya, dropping his head on his hand and staring at the camera for a moment longer. He doesn't really give a shit whether or not people think he made a mistake; he's happy with his decision. He's just a little curious what other people out there think. ]

I only just got here so I could be wrong, but the "bitching and whining" could be people were taken from their homes against their wills. Even if the destination isn't a bad place, being moved there without their consent would still upset people.

If they told me I could go home tomorrow, I'd probably decline. I'm curious about this place and want more time to learn about it and the other people who've been brought here. Though even if I was here a year like you, I'd probably still decline leaving.

It's more the expectation that a lot of people have that there's some evil emperor Oz behind the curtain that everyone is just waiting to pop out and yell "MWUAHAHA, I HAVE KIDNAPPED YOU FOR MY OWN DASTARDLY PLAN" [ Complete with theatric laughter and a claw hand in frame and appropriate menacing facial expressions. Its the kind of performance that would be appreciated in a school play- you know, if Yuri went to public school. ] that confuses me, since there hasnt ever been a speck of evidence to support that idea. And trust me, I know a lot of people who have looked. And are still looking. Does the tin hat get tiring? I just want to know.

I hear you. There is some pretty cool stuff- like... they gave me the ability to turn into a tiger. [ and for emphasis on this he grins, letting his black and white ears sprout, striping spreading across his cheeks and forehead, features shifting distinctly more feline before he stops it, still grinning, and returns to his usual. ] That is so fuckin' cool.

Getting pissed off someone else decided not to go home is pointless, it's no one's business what you choose to do. It isn't exactly like you stopped them from going home by making that decision.

I'm not in any rush to go back, I have friends here that I'll never see again for one thing. I don't exactly get to go home when I leave either.

Back home I wind up going through another portal, trapped on a different world from my own. If we get sent to the same time we left and nothing about our future changes that's where I'm going and there's no way back.

I would, yes. There are things in my homeland I could change, or at least spark a light in, and that supersedes any personal desire to stay or risk of death at returning may exist. Your decision, however, is, after all, your decision. If you fear you've answered incorrectly...perhaps you didn't consider their offer thoroughly enough before giving it.

[ Nodding a little, Yuri looks thoughtful on his video- still streaming despite the other's choice in audio, looking contemplative. ]

No, I don't regret my decision at all. Like I said I was moreso curious what other people would do, given the chance to go home right this second. I mean yeah, I want to go home eventually- but. Things have been pretty good here, you know? It's been nice... to have a break. Relax. Spend time with my boyfriend in a way we wouldn't be able to back home.

I've thought about that myself and.. well, I've been here about half a year by now. If they said I could go back tomorrow ... I think I would, yeah. I mean.. I'd miss the friends I made here, but I don't belong here. And I miss my family besides.

But don't think I - or anyone really, can say if you made a mistake about this or not, only you can judge that. It's your choice, your reasons if you wanted to stay or not.

I miss my grandpa a lot, yeah. But like I said- for now... I get to do things here that I don't back home, too. And if it's not forever? When they offer to take me home again? If I can go with Otabek... then yeah, I probably will. For a little while longer though, there is some cool ass shit that I get to learn here that I'd never have the opportunity back home. [ And he smiles a little, because- at the end of the day... he's happy with his decision. ]

Thanks for letting us know. I never really thought it was a kidnapping, myself, they did explain things when I got here, but... It is good to know that it does happen. People getting the chance to go back, and that it isn't a one in a million chance or something. [He offers a little smile before it fades to something more thoughtful.]

I don't know if I would stay a little while longer or go. I won't stay here forever, but- I don't know if I'm ready yet. And I'm sure you had your reasons for staying. It probably wasn't a mistake.

Yeah. I wasn't sure myself for awhile, but... I saw it with my own eyes, you know? I mean not that I can really tell you what all the gizmos and gadgetry bullshit might have meant, but- sure seemed like home to me. Home as I know it anyway. And I'll go back... at some point. But just not yet.

I'm really happy here. [ And Hiccup is maybe the first person he's honestly said it to, breathing out slowly and circling a finger over Potya's head, stroking between her ears and down her nose, before shrugging. ] It's just been really... good. To learn something different. To do something different for awhile, while still keeping on top of myself, and my career back home.

You need to get your ears checked buddy. I don't want to go home right now. That isn't to say I never want to go back home. I miss my grandpa, I miss my coach and my ballet teacher. Sure as shit there are things I fucking miss, dumbass. [ He rolls his eyes and sighs. ]

But it's also nice to have opportunities to learn something else, for a little while. Spend time with people that I wouldn't be able to, otherwise. And maybe not have to sacrifice anything to do so if what they say is true- if I get to go back home to the moment I left.
