I wouldn't say anything is put in stone 100%, no matter how much it seems like it is... That said, I have, from what I've learned through a reputable prophesier and friend that I have year or two left before I'm supposed to die. I suppose my main way of tackling it is doing everything I can, as long as I can, as hard as I can — for the sake of those around me.
