2nd sleep note, audio SN: pnwsalex

[Hey look, it's two thirty in the morning and guess who's not sleeping. You're right, it's definitely Alex.]

I don't suppose anyone managed to hoard some of that incense that helps you sleep? I swear, I haven't had a good night sleep like that in two years before I got here.

[A beat, because she didn't mean to admit it.]

It's also the first time I willingly used magic. Well, that and the candles at the party. Back home, magic isn't supposed to be real, and all of the instances of it have to do with demons and sacred geometry. I guess I guess my journalism major self always knew math was evil, but I never thought it would be so literal!

[There's some amusement in her voice at that, because she literally just came from so many math lectures. SO MANY.

But changing gears:]

But that's what magic is like in my world. What's it like yours? Also, I'm definitely serious about buying some of that incense if you have it.

Oh! And for those who don't know me, I'm Alex. Alex Reagan.

[ It feels like every month, Loki runs into questions like these. ]

Ah, the moonlight.. smiling down upon me! It is mesmerizing, non? Absolutely stunning. Sometimes, the mere sight of the moon can lull a person to sleep with its calming light. But ah, some people are not so fortunate. I see.. if you cannot rest, maybe your mind and soul are not at ease, but I have the perfection solution for you if you are yearning for sleep. Curious, hm?

As it is, j.snow is a youngish man with a deep voice and a heavy Northern accent.]

Don't think magic is supposed to be real where I come from, either, but there were dragons once, and there are again. I've seen other things that weren't supposed to be real, too, for good and bad.

[Alex looks tired, and she's holding a coffee cup and she just shrugs when she says:]

But is it open now?

[Alex really doesn't want to ask, but as a journalist, she sort of feels compelled too. So, with obvious hesitation on her face and in her voice.]

Okay...?

[Oh yay someone she doesn't feel the need to get on video for! She loves him a little right now. ]

It's the worst isn't it? Seeing things that weren't supposed to be real? It tilts your entire world view.

It is almost always open. We do not keep regular hours.

And I can just show up in my pajamas?

[Look, man, she's meant to be sleeping here.]

Are you there often at two am?

I don't sleep as often as humans do.

[ He prefers to be with his work anyway. ]

And I care not what you wear.

[And that is a slow blink.]

So, you're not human, can I ask what you are?

_{[ don't say okay because he takes that as yes. He doesn't give Alex much of a choice in this situation and I'm sorry.
And so, without further ado...
Karamatsu pulls out a blue colored acoustic guitar. He raps his knuckles on the body of the instrument, counting himself off. He strums, and the playing his nice, but when he actually sings. Well, it's not exactly bad, just kind of normal and nothing to wow over-- it's probably a little deeper than anticipated. What he sings, though, it's not exactly a lullaby: ]}

_{[ It sounds like he's singing about a girl back home, but what???? Thankfully, it's over and doesn't last very long, but then.. ]}

_{[ He strikes a pose, and then pulls out from his butt pocket of his denims.. a small disc in a case. ]}

[She had been there and had remembered them talking about Gods and the like.]

Can I ask what you're the god of? No offense of course, I'm just interested. Never met a good before and all of that.

[ A beat. ]

I am Loki. God of Mischief.

[For a moment, Alex just visibly blinks at the screen. It's a slow blink, once, twice a third time. And then she finds herself reaching over and pressing the webbing of her thumb on her left hand between her thumb and forefinger on the right. It's pain stimulus and if she was dreaming, she'd be waking up.

Clearly, she was not dreaming this.

Okay.

When it ended, she let out another slow blink before she pressed her hands together in the bare and most polite of polite applause.]

Uh. Thanks?

_{[ A bare and polite applause is better than no applause... or even worse.. Alex could have shut the feed off before he could even finish. Already, he feels more confident in himself and is mistaking Alex's politeness for something else.

A gross word called friendship. ]}

Heh, you're welcome! I am generous, am I not? Just think.. without me here.. you would still be struggling to sleep! How do you feel? Relaxed enough to drift into dreamland?

[For a moment, Alex really doesn't know what to say, but then she just settles on a smile and adds:]

Nice to meet you.

[For a minute Alex really doesn't know how she's supposed to respond Honestly, she's trying to be very nice to everyone here, but she... well. This is weird.

So, she just tries another smile, and removes the question from her voice.]

Thanks. Really.

[ . . . Well. Okay. ]

Likewise?

Sorry. I'm not normally like... tongue-tied around people. Far from it honestly. But you know.

[Alex makes a little gesture towards him that means an actual god and she smiles, deciding to go about this in the normal way. Well, normal for Alex anyway.]

Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?

You may though I reserve the right to refuse.

Yeah, no, of course. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Is there like a proper form of address I should be using?

Loki will do. I don't care much for formal address these days.

[ Unless it's funny. ]

Okay, cool. Loki. I didn't know if I should call you like "Oh great Loki, high god of cool Lokiness" or something.

[It's clear she's teasing, or at the very least making a bad joke.]

So, god of mischief, would that mean that you do illusion types of magic?
