[ it's late, but the stars are shining and the moon is big enough to reveal that nico is once again in the graveyard, sitting atop a gravestone as he munches some fries. his legs swing back and forth. with his mouth full, he pauses and regards the feed. ]

I've been doing a lot of thinking. Mostly about the future. So we're stuck here for five years, right? How many people are planning on staying after that? If so, why?

I mean... [ another bite of fries and he swallows this time before continuing. ] What do people miss the most about their original homes and is it enough to want to go back? If there was one thing about this place that could make you stay, what would it be?

I dunno. Anyway- Loki, I need to make sure I have Wednesday night off. And Jason, I need some advice. Also, Ed, I have a few questions about your alchemy.

Perhaps it is not meant to be removed. Or treated as such.

[ It's almost a healthy attitude. But Loki has always treated his wounds with an odd sense of reverence. They're not imaginary to him, not the product of a madness no one can explain. ]

[ that's an interesting idea, though not one nico favors. if he's meant to live his life experiencing loneliness, what's the point? not that he seeks death or anything; he knows his time will come eventually. it's just that he wonders if reaching out is worth the effort if he'll always feel that emptiness inside him. ]

Then how would you suggest it be treated?

That depends on contentment and how you seek it in its many forms.

[ sometimes, i wonder if i'll ever find true contentment when the people i love never love me back. he doesn't say it, but it echos in his mind. ]

I guess it's a bit of trial and error.

As are all things in life. But the possibilities exist.
